Thursday 15th August 2024:

I took the train on Monday (12th), and rode my Brompton from Cardiff Central Station down to Cardiff Bay. Had a great ride around to the Barrage, where I was lucky to see the gates being opened, and the lift bridge being raised, for some boats to re-enter the bay, including a gorgeous yacht.😊

Then I tackled the big climb up the hill and dropped down to the sea-front at Penarth (well, I got off and had to walk much of it if I’m honest ☚ī¸). I rode onto the fabulous old pier and by then the sun was out nice and bright.

Some lovely footage – Penarth was looking really very good!

    1. What a lovely surprise, a trip to Cardiff Bay & Penarth & a huge set of gates opening in the middle. I haven't seen much of it in person despite Cardiff being my home town for one reason or another so thank you for showing me around.
It would have been a lot busier if the sun was shining so that was a gift to you really, a quiet ride. Don't envy you the steep parts of Penarth one little bit.
Fun With Gladys is about to begin……

    2. Those yellow stripes on the lock gates and the lock walls, and if you look carefully you’ll notice they’re also on the harbour wall in the distance as well. If you stand in the right spot, just back a little where you were standing, they all line up and create concentric circles.

    3. I was thinking as you said pier, that what goes down, will be another slog on the return back up. And about your commentary, there most wrong with it; another fine presentation. I like the way the water fills the lock, from behind the gates. Makes for little surface turbulence inside the lock.
      Thank you.

    4. I would be quite frightened to sail through that huge set of lock gates 😮 Nice ride on the Brompton except for the steep hillsâ€Ļhope you kept cool at least!
