    1. had to abandon today. multiple issues
      1. decided to run a system restore on my pc which was still in progress after 2 hours – so had to run the race from a tablet. the lower processing meant that most of the time i couldnt see my position on the screen. i would appear for 2 seconds and then other riders would come in to view

      2. getting to the top of the main climb and i could feel the bike shifting laterally on the trainer. happens often and is usually just a case of hopping off the bike – tighten with quick release and continue. tonight though … every time i tightened the QR it made the pedalling too stiff plus i couldnt back pedal. Loosening the QR and i could pedal but then the bike fram would move. 10 minutes of faffing about and i was already down to 40th.

so … time for some deserved ridicule. For the past 3 years – 2 trainers, i had unknowingly used the through axle adapters with a quick release skewer on the bike. I had just assumed that it was normal to have to tighten the bike after every ride and this caused me to never ride out of the saddle (worried that the carbon would snap if the bike leaned over too much).

    2. Hi Colin. I'll be buying my first smart trainer next month, probably the Wahoo kickr core, together with the Apple TV 4k device. I wondered whether you had any experience of this setup for Rouvy and can comment on the quality of the graphics I should expect on a 27 inch 1080 monitor. Because the Wahoo Kickr comes as standard with a 1 year ZWIFT subscription, I will use ZWIFT initially, but I really like what I see on your channel and may move to Rouvy after the Zwift subscription ends.

    3. Hi Colin, great video as per usual buddy!

Nice to see breers give luis a race today, those guys are really strong! Great to see remi back and not just turn up and smash the win! He’ll be right up there soon, just nice to see that you can’t just rock up (like some we won’t mention) and get an easy win then disappear again.

On the points structure just wanted to make sure you were aware of the “winners ballast” we use. So basically if you finish in the top 3 at the end of a monthly championship, you get a -% of ballast. 1.5 for 1st, 1.0 for 2nd and 0.5 for 3rd. It’s my version of adding some extra weight to them to slow them down (like they do in touring cars to stop the really fast cars just speeding off and winning every race) So the brackets with the figure in it next to a riders name in the championship standings is there ballast figure that they have for the rest of the year (always increasing if they finish again in the top 3)

Quick example: So you can see the top 4 all run with ballast and it just means it keeps everything closer. Bareremi is at 96% due to his amazing start to the year so he will “only” get 96% of his points accrued from each race at the moment. M-forby is right in there for a top 3 in the championship this month as well because of this deduction to the. Top 4!

It’s gonna give it all some extra excitement as we get closer to the end of the year that’s for sure!!

    4. Hey great job again, glad I’m not the only one getting early up riding on your hometrainer before the lady of the house has woken up😉

    5. As for my race, really enjoyed this and was in the top 20-30 before the first climb then settled into pacing the climb at 3.0. Managed to just tag onto Mick after the climb and hung on for dear life as we caught and passed quite a few “bonked” riders. Where you picked me up at the end, we’d just caught those 2 and I was spent! Tried to pace up the climb again and then emptied the tank over the crest! If Mick came back, I was always gonna let him go due to all the help I’d had off him. Did t realise he got Duckman 2 at the line as well! 🥵🥵. Mick is really strong at the moment and so tough to stay with as he can really kick up a hill if he wants to!

Got some new personal best ftps, 5mi powers etc etc on the race aswell which really does prove how you don’t half try harder on a race!

    6. Thanks Colin for the video and the mention. I did really good first 45min along with svard for about 25th position and than the tanks was empty. But really empty. Finished 35th. This was a brutal race with over 800m of climbing so the climbers and the ones with the better stamina were always going to come out on top. Next week I might stay more UP the pack, hiding behind the strong backs 😉

    7. Regarding bike use -I'm loving the temporay use of the Trek Madone. When you commented about my choice of the TT bike, well I'd just chosen it because it looked fast and then forgotten about it. But your comment made me realise that choosing the right bike can make a difference, so now i think about it each time. I'll be able to buy one soon – any recommendations?

    8. That was a tough race. The route is really challenging with all this climbs and kickers. I liked it. But did Neil really try to attack me after I was pulling him all along the route? No, I couldn't accept this, so I had to counterattack 😘😁🙌 I was surprised that I even got Duckman2 right before the finish line.
Do I have to say it again? Yes, I have to: great video, Colin!!
