On our recent trip from our home in Amsterdam to the Paris Summer Olympics, we had the chance to explore the French city of Lille for a few hours. We know we could only see a small slice of this beautiful city in the time we had, but it ended up being so fun!

Crepes, interesting regional desserts, and an amazing old church… Just our kind of day trip!

    ✼ ABOUT US ✼
We are Nate and Katrina, two Americans living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and traveling as much as we can to see what there is to see! Call us expats, immigrants, whatever… just call us already.

We balance work life with travel… as best we can! We would love to visit every country in Europe while we live here, and definitely keep a list of our global “must visit” destinations.

We try to give you a true view of us and how we travel and explore the world. Lots of food, definitely some jokes, and probably some swearing…. Hope you enjoy taking these trips with us!

    1. I visited Lille as a day trip from Paris. I bought the city pass which got me a bus tour and public transport plus entry to some attractions. Climbed up a Tower, went to the art gallery; van Gogh's painting of Cows is there. It was on loan when I was there but I caught up with it later in Paris. Lille makes a nice day trip. Just checked my photos the Cathedral looks as it does in your shots normally. You can buy those meringues in Paris too.

    2. I say this as a joke so please take it that way. Katrina, if Nate were to get you an electric bike think of how the lack of exercise would negatively effect your only fans page. Again, just kidding 😁

    3. Actually, originally Lille was a Flemish-Dutch city with the original name “Rijssel”, until an obscure French king by the name of Lou14 decided he wanted it and took it in 1667 from the Netherlands. Likewise Dunquerque (Duinkerken), Calais (Kales) and a few more. An urban legend has it that general Charles de Gaulle, who was born in Lille came from a family by the name of van der Wal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Flanders
