What is going on with the motorcycle market? Is it improving, ending, in a slump? Let me know your thoughts. (The comma in decisions was deliberate as a tongue-in-cheek dig at politicians intelligence).

    1. Personally I bought a triumph speed 400 to do some of my commuting mileage on as its fast enough ok on fuel and new @£5k seems decent value.
Haven't got a use for anything much larger and the 125cc stuff or 20 bhp leave you struggling to get past anything.
Electric motorcycles are waiting for more energy dense battery tech to come along to provide decent range and lower the cost it's a matter of time and technology catching up if you consider the weight of battery as a% of overall weight its coming just not now even the best electric bicycles only get yo 50-60 miles.

    2. Same as everything else, bikes not available, parts not available, government talk of banning bikes, bike theft, people wise to buying PPI,sports bikes that aren't really sports bikes…
same as all the other trades it just took a while

    3. Try looking at the Insurance !!!! It's a complete joke, and a total rip off 😞 63 yrs old, 20+ years held bike licence, looked up insurance for a Royal Enfield Meteor 650. Guess how much without a Garage? £2,800+ annually. WITH garage £580+ This needs to be investigated because it simply prices bikes out of the market. Similar prices for a Vulcan 900. Neither bike is a rocket ship. I can't even GET a quote for a Fireblade or an R1. I guess my riding days are now over 😞

    4. 50cc petrols no good compared to nwer electric bikes and scooters 28mph and they can't pull you off next doors wife.
Sales up because of just eat fast food riders maybe ?

    5. insuring even a small 125 cc can be as expensive as insuring a big car now, im 51 yrs old with a full car licence 32 yrs driving experience, and i looked up insuring a yamaha mt125 if i took a cbt, and the cheapest i could find was 6 – 800 quid . thats shocking. after 32 yrs driving a car i know how to read a road and traffic yet insurance is as if in 16yrs old on a moped with no road experience ? we are getting priced out of motorcycling. and cars making private transport extortionate tempting to force us all on public transsport. in essence having to live by time tables, taking our freedom to go where we want whenever we want, its the start of a very controlled future, the next is doing away with cash so they can monitor where every single penny goes to, its all part of global control. one way to get people of the road is by extorting the fees to own private transport. this is just the beginning folks.

    6. Electric vehicles were designed for countries where electricity is cheap. Today the UK has the 7th most expensive electricity in the world, but only the 25th most expensive petrol in the world.

    7. When you pommies talk insurance is that comprehensive or required for rego?
I insured one bike only 35 years ago for 6 months comprehensive. Needed it for a loan.
In OZ au$160 rego, au$380 for 3rd party personal injury insurance on a 900cc.
Saved $30k over those years even with a couple of scrapes.
Insurance is for the bourgeoisie. Live life, worry free. Tomorrow never comes.
I do spend up to 5% of purchase price on security at the time of purchase. Got half a dozed chains, CCTV on my bike from 3 angles. Alarm…

    8. The price of big bikes is ridiculous. I have five bikes ranging from 125 to 850 cc. Together they cost less than my neighbour's BMW GS which he rides once a week for a couple of hours. Insurance is only part of the story. My multi bike insurance is £250 a year fully comp. I think most older riders have done the "by a bigger bike" thing and are now in the other side of the bell curve and realise that a smaller capacity and lighter bike can be just as satisfying.

    9. The larger bikes (petrol and electric) are getting so expensive that dealers need to organise good leasing terms, like the new car sales market.

Work out the running costs on PCP or hire purchase. Calculate the cost of PCP + fuel for the type of journeys you want to make. For city delivery drivers it is cheaper to run a small electric scooter or motorbike than a 125. But that isn't yet the case for bigger bikes with lower annual mileage.

    10. Younger people aren’t interested in bikes, it’s just a sad fact. Paying out big money with the possibility of the ice market disintegrating in a few years isn’t an incentive either. Sadly the alternative don’t fill riders with confidence either

    11. The problem with motorcycles now (especially in Britain) is the laws! When you're 16 you can ride 50cc, when you're 17 125cc. If you want a bigger bike, you have to do a full test. BUT…when you're 17 you can do you're car test and buy any car you want (if you can afford it). Which makes absolutely no sense! The law needs to change or the bike market will die!

    12. Older riders dying, the living ones looking bewildered at robotic styled overly complicated bikes aimed at much younger riders in other countries, riders we no longer have. No wonder smaller bikes & retros are selling. I'm 60, both my lads have been around my bikes all their lives, neither wants the hassle of gaining a license though….

    13. The people buying sports bikes 10 years ago are now 10 years older, have a bad back, realise that you can’t use 200bhp on the potholed roads…..enter the adventure bike.

    14. The price of mainstream bikes has become stupendous considering for most of us it’s a hobby and a nice to have. I’m like many out there from the baby boomer era, rode for 45 years and been fortunate to afford most bikes I’ve wanted however of late I’m more interested in value for money products rather than the 20k plus behemoths. Chinese bikes have came a long way of late and currently have my attention so looking to order something for early next year.

    15. If we ban Chinese imports and instead all those sells go to reputable brands, they will be able to make better bikes at more affordable prices

    16. When I was looking for a Zontes last year, none of the dealers near me were all that enthusiastic about selling me one & they had hardly any stock in! & then they dropped the price by £500 a couple of months after I'd bought it 😕
LOTS of figures on this video, could you do some graphs next time pleeeeeeaaaaaase 😁

    17. younger people don't have the money to spend unless it is the bank of mum and dad which lets face it would rather support the price of a car for safety and practicality. The bike market is dead in UK unless it loosens some of the restrictive barriers to entry, remove A2 and increase A1 to around 250cc, and then A1 automatically turns into progressive license for the full A
Eventually, the Moto market will just start making bikes which find loop holes to increase the power, they already have with Zero etc producing power over the 15HP limit but still fall within CBT and A1, why make it difficult for everyone when they can just open the market up.
