Only 120 miles separate two coastlines in England’s far southwestern corner, but the route between them is packed with history and geographical significance. It passes through the last of England’s surviving rainforest—a wild corner crisscrossed by trails that are just waiting to be explored. We set off on this route, bikepacking coast to coast, in search of the rainforest.

    1. I was given a book called cycle touring in wales, a 657 mile around the coast and then back down the border with shorter cross routes. The wife keeps hiding it.

    2. Great video.
      You started at Bovisand.
Wish I had known that I could have met up and shown you around the area, some great cycling.
      Maybe next time.
Great film though, over Dartmoor Exmoor and down the hill to the sea.
      👍🚴😃

    3. You two have a great job. I've been through south west English by car, absolutely beautiful. I'd love to ride through it, gotta put it on my bucket list, problem though, I'm into my second bucket. Another great video from GCN.

    4. Great video! My 12 year old son and I were so inspired. It got the two of us taking and now we’re planning something for next summer. Maybe 90 miles over two days, but with hotels instead of camping. It might not be bikepacking, but the video definitely got us thinking of venturing out further than we usually go. Thanks for the inspiration!

    5. I made that mistake with climbs whole hiking only once. For me its a buge time sap, a big climb can take 30 minutes or more over a short distance. You can burn up all the daylight on hills.

    6. I can't be the only one who watched the opening minutes and saw the route and elevation gain and thought.. I'd do that in reverse. (maybe the lazy way). Save my legs from the climbs and probably enjoy it a little more. Great vid

    7. Hank, we believe we saw your family members and old family home on an English ghost show. It was fun and we were tickled to see it. I think the filming must have been done quite a while ago. The coast to coast looks like an awesome ride. I love riding gravel bikes on what is traditionally mountain bike trail. I ride them on green and blue trails. Black and double black still require actual trail mtbs. 🤣👍🏼🚴🏼‍♀️

    8. I'm sorry but try RAGBRAI but that is only 400 miles in 100 Fahrenheit and 2 million percent humidity. But then again even children can do that.

    9. Great video, brings back a lot of cycle touring memories, good and bad! Devon is beautiful for sure, but an absolute nightmare to ride around. You are either going up or down. And everything is so steep, the north coast and into Somerset especially, the mere thought of Porlock Hill gives me anxiety attacks lol

    10. Strikes me as a Slow Cycling film on steroids.~4x the distance in ~2/3 the time. Very entertaining. Hank and Connor seemed to have a good time, cows and all.

    11. I watched part of a video I'm sure was on GCN that had to do with cycling the UK's last rainforest but now it seems to be gone. Was I dreaming it?
