This is my analysis of the Cycling Nerd video, which Gloucestershire Police did not qualify as good enough evidence of a close pass. I bet to differ. I will go step by step and prove that it was a terrible close pass and argue that the force should do better against such dangerous driving.

The video is based on the footage from The Cycling Nerd https://x.com/NerdCyclist/status/1821658807380123925

    1. I am sorry but the footage is useless? "Are you nuts" I hear you say. I am not saying that the cyclist wasn't close past because they were. However, the problem with the footage is that the viewer would say that they no point of reference to use to understand how close the close pass was. The close pass on the cyclist was a close pass everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. However, the footage needs to include the rear and front wheels and/ or handlebar in the frame of the footage.

All this Sky, Sun, tarmac and Moon footage is a waste of time in my opinion!! Rear and front wheels and/ or handlebar are always in my frame. When a vehicle that is one tonne plus and is hitting you, what good is Sky, Sun, tarmac and Moon footage? It's not Back to the Future where the car is hovering in the air!!

    2. You make a compelling argument for retraining the police in handling close pass incidents involving cyclists I totally agree with that one. Regarding the close pass incident, it’s evident that it was indeed too close. If we could capture more of the bike in the footage, it would strengthen the case further. Overall, your video raises important points, good video.
