New video footage has been released showing a cyclist slamming into the side of a flat-bed truck after its driver appears to cut him off while making a right-hand turn in Toronto’s west end last month.

The surveillance footage, provided to CP24, shows a collision that occurred at the intersection of Bloor and Dufferin streets at approximately 10 a.m. on July 25.

In the footage, the cyclist is seen travelling eastbound in the Bloor Street bike lane.

    1. This yield to cyclists law is crazy stupid!!! Yes, if cyclist is ahead of motor vehicles but when vehicle is ahead and indicates that it will be making a turn, cyclist should stop and let vehicle to make a turn. Lawyer and mayor comments about vehicle side guards are bizarre. Maybe cyclists should put some bubble wrap all over their bodies before heading out to challenge large trucks. Every time I come to intersection with those signs I always wonder when not if something like that will happen. Hope cyclist will recover quickly but he should have being more careful.
Let's hope government will revisit this rule and make mandatory licenses for cyclists. They should also pay a small yearly fee to use the roads which our tax dollars pay for.

    2. Twenty+ years of this bicycle-lane nonsense. When I use to ride in the City, before bycycle lanes, I rode defensively. I understood that regardless of "MY RIGHT OF WAY" I lose if the battle is between car and bycycle. CARS and bycycles DO NOT belong on the same streets.

    3. That guy went into his blind spot ! And it was his fault! A Motor vehicle operator should always have the right away. How fast can they stop in a vehicle and how fast can someone stop on my bike or 2 feet?… look at the mining regulations who has the right away the bigger vehicle for good reason so you don’t die.

    4. That's what happens when you chose to bike in a busy down town area. In Montreal I saw the same thing happen and sadly the biker wasn't as lucky. You need to be more careful, a big truck won't see you, you are on a bike not in a car.

    5. Temu is going to cut profit to a lot of Canadian businesses and probably accounts for some of Canadian Tire’s profit loss in its last quarter. Yet the NDP led, by Singh, is going after Canadian corporations……..

    6. Stop idol worshipping Taylor Swift you big babies!!! She does witchcraft in her shows. Why would you let any of your family members especially your children go there

    7. If the cyclist is behind the vehicle cyclists falt looks like according to the hwy traffic act and also Toronto cyclists act so as a cyclists we should get a at least one million insurance coverage now otherwise what if the other way of a cyclist damage a vehicle by cyclists fault

    8. One time riding down the shoulder of the highway, as far over as I could get, an 18 wheel flat-bed drifted way over and I almost got sucked into the open wheels.
The driver was busy yapping on a cell phone – this happened on a long corner that led into a straightaway.
The light turned red and he had to stop – I caught up to him.
I told him – good work bro – you just about turned me into a pile of broken bones and jelly.
He yelled at me f off gora
      😂😂😂

    9. Bike lanes are even scarier for vehicles making the left turn

Gauging speed is a ridiculous ask of a moving vehicle for a lane often obscured by parked cars and such

    10. After looking at the video ,the gentleman asked the same question inwas going to ask,why he did nt give right of way to bike and better yet what if a person was going to cross on foot ,you clearly see the truck not stop but turn like he was driving straight same speed, and was signals for turning put on before reaching intersection because most people put turn signals when they arrive at intersection, signal turning should be put on before arriving at turn sight. So that those behind can know what you are doing .

    11. As a 75 year old cyclist who rides day or night, the key question I ask myself every time out —–Can they see me ? If I am not sure, I assume, they don't know I am there.

    12. Bicycles and vehicles DO NOT BELONG on the same roads. As drivers, we pay insurance to drive on the streets…..bicyclists pay nothing and they don't respect the vehicles on the roads. Bike lanes are DANGEROUS on busy city streets!

    13. cyclist still need to use COMMON SENSE when travelling beside large vehicles because there are always BLIND SPOTS.

good grief ….you might have the right away but you still need to be logical about the situation

      …ugh talk about a sense of entitlement…..

    14. Cyclist also blame for cycle without knowing the cycle law in Toronto and obey the hwy traffic act because we always see when ever there is a vehicle turn right cyclist cycle towards the vehicle on pedestrian crossings which is wrong they need to get down and push the cycle that the law

Also over 14 years older not allowed to cycle in walk paths thats a ticket and also needs to stop on stop Sighns same as motorists

I think cyclist needs at least one million insurance policy in case cyclists damage other property they can be also charged and sued for damages as a liability through small claims court

    15. I don’t think people are watching this video closely. The truck came from behind the cyclist and passed him to turn. He should have seen the cyclist.

No right turns were even legal there at the time.

Cyclists need to be more aware and ride defensively. Drivers need more education on driving.

    16. This is what happens when bicycle lanes are put on major routes.

Bike lanes are much better put on side streets and through residential areas. The riding is far safer, much more pleasant, quieter, and you might even get to meet the neighbours.

    17. Please note there was dark shade where cyclist was riding his bike at the construction site of scaffold over sidewalk for pedestrian safety. Could not the cyclist HEAR THE MASSIVE TRUCK BESIDE HIM and slow down at that intersection? I BELIEVE IN PREVENTATIVE OBSERVATION WHERE SHADOWS ARE CAST ON STREET. THIS INCLUDES PEDESTRIANS PLANING TO CROSS A STREET TOO!!!!!.
