Looks like an aeroprakt, similar in size to a kitfox. He could easily fly at 60mph.
Love Gonky’s early comment – this reminds me of when your in Texas and you go hog hunting .
Full circle back to the early days of shooting a gun/rifle out of a plane .
If it works , saves a ton of cash vs using a $1,000,000 missile and an F35
Funny, looks like youtube deleted my comment about Tom Cruse going drone hunting in his P-51 mustang.
Huh i think my comment got deleted
2:12 gonky: "I would like to shoot down a drone tho, from an airplane, with a rifle"
mace: "to get back on topic, yes."
it's funny cuz it's true.
I might actually get behind sending some support to Ukraine, if as Gonky asked at the end, "Does every farmer have an ultralight and a rifle?"
With CBP we trained and tested shooting from the UH-60 and Astar's at drones and boats. It does take some practice to learn the proper "lead" but it's doable. We also found out that Shotguns, with 00 loads, were the best. Overall, it was FINDING the drone that was the most difficult thing to do. Boats were not difficult but small drones crossing the border were the most difficult to find.
2:06 I thought that was the line for the F-15?
The 8-guage shotguns used in 19th century commercial fowl hunting are basically relevant again. The 8 and 10-guage shells were used to shoot down several passenger pigeons all at once.
I also note, in that part of the world a 4-guage shotgun exists, and might be an even better candidate for anti-drone operations.
Have you seen the guy fly the drone into the tail rotor of the MI-35?
Net gun w/ parachute?
I wonder if it was a transgender dude on the plane would that have counted as the worlds 2nd Drone kill by a female………..
"To get back on topic – yes" – Mace lol that made me lol
Can you get a poacher mounted?
So you guys pro Putin or pro Ukraine? Or isolationist who could care less about geopolitics and how this impacts our country and economy regardless? We are sending them equipment that is to be decommissioned and destroyed that is old. So you guys think we should just let Russia bully Ukraine 🇺🇦 and things will be fine? Pick a side
Using light aircraft makes more sense for Ukraine. Helicopters are in relatively short supply and are needed by front line forces. Light Aircraft have no real use besides basic flight training. This gives them a better purpose not to mention they are cheap and easily replaceable.
Aerokraft made in Ukraine
They do have the drone guns but they are not working that well, as both militaries are using different frequencies now to fly drones , juat to avoid that.
This conversation just sparked a thought. I wonder how many people on the ground got killed or injured from air to air battles? Watching all the WWII films of the battles it never once entered my thoughts I'm sure it was a real thing.
During the siege of Malta, the put together a bomber interceptor.
It was a Gloster Gladiator with 4 extra 303 machine guns bolted on.
That would be the equivalent of a crop duster with 8 7.62mm machine guns bolted under the wings
