Grandis and I – A Short Bike Film – Shot in Verona, Italy

I think this short film kinda illustrates how even the oldest bike can ‘take you away’ and even if you live in a city, within a few moments you can be amongst the nature.

I bought, or rather ‘found’ Grandis at a Vintage shop around 6 months ago. The owner wanted 60 euros. I offered 50 euros and he said yes. I intentionally bought it for just a run around town, go to work, leave outside shop locked up bike, but I’ve kinda fell in love with it.

It’s made out of steel and is probably older than me but rides like a dream. If anyone knows anything else about this specific model please let me know :). I think it’s pretty much all original.

As we see at the start we are in the city and at the end we return to the city, but in between there are lots nice nature shots :).

I was inspired to shoot a film like this, not entirely sure why.

I experimented with making something retro looking. I used a 4:3 ratio and filmed in 24 FPS (frames per second).

I added a slight bit of noise to the film and, for the first time ever, tried to learn some colour correction/matching/adding/takingawaying.

I’m quite proud with the result.

Did you like it? Let me know below :).

Location – Somewhere in Verona, Italy

    Shot using an iPhone 12!
