Custom bike enthusiasts gather annually at the WHEELS AND WAVES event in France.

In 2024, Biarritz hosted this year’s WHEELS AND WAVES from June 12 to 16. Celebrating its 13th year, this cultural festival attracts visitors from all over Europe, who share passions for motorcycles, surfing, skateboarding, music, and art.

The event features a variety of rider-centric attractions, including sprint races, dirt track challenges, sand races, and organized tours to the site.

A unique highlight of the event is the plethora of custom-built motorcycles, both on display and ridden by attendees. These bikes range from vintage to contemporary models, including racing and touring bikes. The gathering celebrates the spirit of custom bike-building, uniting riders across different eras and styles.

One section of the event showcases vibrant custom bikes entered in a customization contest organized by Honda Motor Europe. Since 2020, Honda’s European subsidiary has hosted this contest, each year focusing on a different current model.

This year’s base model was the scrambler-style, 2-cylinder CL500 250, released in 2023. Contestants, including Honda dealers and custom builders from nine countries, were tasked with creating iconic custom motorcycles inspired by Honda’s storied past and its rich motorcycle culture.

The contest invites votes not only from visitors to Biarritz 2024 but also from a global online audience. Detailed photos and videos of each contestant’s bike are available online, showcasing the dedication and creativity behind these custom creations.

Enthusiasts can visit the Automotive and Transportation Design channel, follow the provided link, and vote for their favorite bike by clicking the VOTE button—no registration required. Votes are accepted until August 31, with the winning bike announced in September.

Explore the remarkable custom bikes, cast your vote, and celebrate Honda’s legacy in motorcycle history!
