Garry has a lazy day and decides to spend the day in the New Forest, which, as it turned out, might not have been the wisest of moves.

    1. Ouch. A friend of mine did a similar thing and ended up breaking his hip. I steer clear of fords now and take the footpath route. Heal quickly.

    2. Sorry to see the injuries, Garry! I know it sounds wise in hindsight, but I'd advise people not to ride through fords or floods, unless carefully checked. Why? Guess. :)) One near Chelmsford looked easy. Half way across, I was riding on slimy green weeds, the bike slipping every way, fully loaded with touring gear and clothes. I got away with it! I walked back over the footway.
I fell over this Spring, just like you there, in a flood. The wheels bogged down in sh*t. Lost balance. Within a month, I had to replace both wheels as the freewheel 'went' and then the front hub. 🙁 You'd best maybe check them out, as yours are quality, especially that rear hub. Hope you've got away with it too. 🙂
