Episode 14 of my bike tour around Greece. The route I took when cycling in Greece was based on the legend of Hercules and the 12 Labours in the Peloponnese region.

The bike tour around Greece continues on day 16, with a cycling route between Tripoli and Tolo.

Along the way, I stopped off at a curious roadside shrine. These are not unusual in Greece, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one quite like this!

The day’s ride finished at a campsite in Tolo, which is near Nafplion.

This day’s bike touring was part of a large bike tour around the Peloponnese following the myth of Hercules and the 12 Labours. Check out my dedicated playlist for more bike touring vlogs from the series!

    1. 2.50" Golden Fly (=Χρυσόμυγα), doesn`t bite, little kids tie with a thin thread –> flies around you like a toy.
They like very much apricots & above all janes.
5.50"while you light a candle, you pray inside you and the church get some money. (Korrespondenz Commision ?)
Generally a small amount, but also nothing. Generally they don`t let it burn all over–> the "Κανδηλανάφτης" Noun(?)
collect the rests of them & send them to the candle factory back again.

    2. The pure and soft candle symbolizes the suppleness of our soul. As the candle melts silently and brightens, so we, with God's Grace, must "melt" to last breath, silently sacrificing to our neighbor for the sake of the love of Christ.

Especially the pure wax produced by virgin bees symbolizes the human nature of Christ, which came from the virgin and virgin Mary.

Not only that. The candle inside the churches symbolizes our "dead" self. When we put it upright and on the lantern, it symbolizes the Risen Jesus, and so we confess our own Resurrection.

    3. Thanks for showing us a little of your gastronomic tour, Dave! The Greek salad brings back happy memories of a holiday my wife and I enjoyed in Tolon, pre-kids in 2000. Best wishes from sunny Shropshire!

    4. Quote is HG Wells "When I see an adult on a bicycle I don't despair for the future of the human race".

I am really seeing Greece as a cycle touring destination. The roads and scenery look fantastic.
