  1. Schwarzbauer left the door open on the approach to the final corner in a fast aggressive race, and then didn't like that somebody came up the inside. The video paused at 0:27 clearly shows Pidcock at least level if not slightly ahead, and certainly in Schwarzbauer's field of vision. He should have accepted the mistake, gone wide, and tried to make up for it in the sprint. He'll hate himself when he watches the video.

  2. All looks fine to me. He was ahead by the corner. Why would he not go for that gap? Looks like sour grapes from the other dude.

  3. It's similar to when a car overtakes you and then comes back in way too early to teach you a lesson for being a cyclist. However, in racing it's fine.

  4. It was fair the cry baby German should not have taken such a wide line does he think a world championship medal is going to be given to him. Piddock did nothing wrong cry baby needs to man up.

  5. SB left the door open. PC was to fast. But SB crashes like they fall in soccer! He should have sprintet him out on the straight, but instead he had chosen to go against an crashes like an amateur! He should have known it better and either close the door before or doing an undercut! The last corner, world championship, last podium place. In Motorcross they wouldn't even talking about it….

  6. Was it a bit of a dirty move? Yes.
Was it against the rules? No, not in Mountain Biking. In a Road Race he would have been relegated, but in Mountain Biking, elbows out is part of racing.
It's an unfortunate racing incident, where Pidcock needs to take most of the blame and I believe he did in his interview after the race.

  7. If this is OK? Then where do we draw the line? I mean you could physically ram people and take them out all the time. To me this was really bad of pidcock, completely used another rider as a barrier, mtbing wouldn't be a sport if everyone did this.

  8. TP definitely had more speed going into that corner, and the inside gap was available. It’s hard to see exactly what happened by that film clip.

  9. Dude left a barn door gap, what you think, nobody's going to take it.
Mountain bikers should consider doing cyclo cross, track, bmx, dual and 4 cross racing. Become a cyclist not a pissy.

  10. Tom never touched him. The German left a massive gap for Tom to pass him through then tried to put him into the barrier when he went past. The German bloke then threw a hissy fit and cried over losing like they did with two world wars and one world cup.

  11. If you read Schwarzbauer's comments, he makes some remark about the MTB community – ie: maybe a little sour grapes that Tom comes from the road and can outclass most of the regular MTB riders? As he did when he won the cross country title today – I noticed Gaze looking a bit put out. Perhaps more of the MTB riders should try their luck on the road, that'd widen their eyes a bit. Tom is an exceptional rider.

  12. Le comio la tostada, si hubiera cerrado el hueco no pasaba , es dificil verlo cuando uno va a tope , pero las carreas son asi todas

  13. Since Pidcock was not disqualified, we can only take note that this move is considered within the rules. This is deeply regrettable however, as it definitely was a nasty divebomb with likely prior knowledge of the inevitable contact to come because of the massively wider line he took, and I would very much enjoy seeing Pidcock having this done to him when fighting for the medals in the next olympic race.
