During the 2024 Olympic & Paralympic games in Paris, the SNCB / NMBS, what is the state owned railway company of Belgium launched a new service along the old railway line. Between Brussels via Mons in Belgium to Paris in France. By the end of this year (2024), so at the start of the 2025 time table, this train line will be adjusted a little bit and will be added in the regular time table.
This train relieves some of the pressure on the popular Eurostar (formerly Thalys) trains along this route and are a great extra addition.

    1. I saw you on Doc Austin's vid, thought this route was great, but you are right, the ticket situation is not helpful at all. After the mess of Brexit I know all about cross border travel and it should be easier..good video, well done, I like these trains, not fancy but does the job.

    2. The answer to why some EC trains do not have a restaurant/café car is that this restriction is optional for shorter international journeys.

    3. You must have taken the EuroStar to Paris Nord before the vandalism on the LGV line. I heard that the EuroStar trains are now being routed on the conventional line until repairs have been completed.

    5. Since then is the Siemens Vectron capable of going to France? I always thought it is not authorised for the French railway network since they have to change the locomotive for the Austrian nightjet trains.

    6. These train is about 30 years old. So that's the reason why it's not accessibly. But for the rest the trains kept up very well for its age! I still prefer this one over newer trains in Belgium! It maybe needs more plugs and some update informations panel, because they are straight from the 90's. And if they would add an accessible car, they can go on for 30 more years!

    7. Booking international train tickets is always a problem… for long journeys you often have to book tickets via several companies, which makes travel complicated.
But there is something more incredible with trains between Belgium and north of France : There is a train operated jointly by NMBS and SNCF, between Tournai (B) and Lille (F).
If you buy your ticket with the belgian company, you can reserve it. With SNCF it's not possible !
But some month ago it was also possible to book it online with SNCF. The only twist was… that it cost 68% more with SNCF ! 😬 For the exact same train, at the same time.
