I had another cyclist collide into my Trek Emonda S4 back tire last night, hard enough to knock the tire out of alignment but we both managed to stay upright and keep riding. After, I noticed this seam running along the chainstay and having a hard time figuring out if it’s an enormous crack or supposed to be there. It seems like a suspiciously clean crack if so, and looking at some pics online of other people’s bikes, I think I see it on their frame too. It’s also on the opposite side of the frame from where the collision was…but worried nonetheless.

Coin test it my guy
I believe you are looking at the chainstay protector. It’s a protector that sticks on the chainstay to protect it from chain slap.
That’s a sticker to protect the frame from the chain hitting it
When carbon is compromised, it’s very noticeable. It goes from a nice tink-tink-tink to thunk very quickly. It looks like just a chainstay protector, but if you want to ascertain its certainty, bring to a shop to take a look.
