If you’ve been in the Vilnius city center sometime between May and October in the last seven years, you’ve probably seen clusters of bright orange bicycles grouped together across the town. If you’re curious about these bicycles and considering maybe trying them one day, here is a quick guide on how to do it- and some reflections and opinions on my first experience with them. Let’s get started!

    1. They make these bicycles heavy, weird looking and poorly adjustable on purpose so people don't steal them and to make them more durable. Which is unfortunate, but I don't think there is a better way.

    2. There are just too few docking stations to make it feasible for commuting, unless you live and work near them. If you need to walk half of the commuting distance just to find one CycloCity bike, then is it even worth renting one? You're already half way where you need to be! 😀 It's just a gimmick, in my opinion. It's only good for leasure and/or for tourists. It was introduced by an ex-mayor of Vilnius as a publicity stunt, in my opinion. Most people who want to rent personal transport will choose electric scooters instead (Bolt or Scoot). But you can also rent electric cars (Spark) and regular cars (CityBee, etc). We also have regular taxis, Bolt, Uber and public transport (buses, trolleybuses, trains). Oh, and electric mopeds, too (Skok).
