Live interview with Jonė Leščinskaitė, from the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania. The removal of the Kruostas dam was initiated in 2023, by the Kėdainiai District Municipality, due to the deteriorating condition and bad technical state of the dam. Supported by the local community and funded by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania, the project aimed to address safety concerns and restore natural river dynamics.

This event is co-organised by WFMF and WWF Netherlands as part of the project ‘Scaling up dam removal: implementation plan for Southeastern Europe’, funded by the European Open Rivers Programme.
