In May 2024, we embarked on a 300-mile challenge from Great Bardfield in Essex to Croyde Bay in Devon. It involved 3 days of cycling through 5 counties and 3 national parks and the first ever Rose Ash to Putsborough marathon (we think!)

The scale of the challenge reflects the love and admiration that we had for Juliet, but also the love that she shared with so many people throughout her life and career. Much of her adult life was spent working with and providing therapy for young children going through hardships and who needed help. By many accounts, she did this with unrivalled empathy, generosity, and emotional intelligence. Amazingly, her work is living on through the Juliet Garmoyle Fund and Place2Be, a mental health charity which exists to provide therapy to children in need. The money raised for this challenge will be used to continue to roll out mental health services in schools all over the South West, a Place2Be initiative only made possible by the Juliet Garmoyle Fund.

Why Essex to Devon? As many of you will know, these were two of the most important places to Juliet. She spent many years living in Essex and a huge amount of time with her family at their house on Croyde Bay. She offered her therapy at local schools near Great Bardfield where the challenge began, and her ashes are scattered overlooking Croyde Bay, where the challenge finished.

If you need any more information on the challenge or charity, please get in to touch via the contact details on our JustGiving page.
