What is Sicily like? What are the roads, climate, people and landscapes like? And the mafia?

With its 25,711 square kilometers (9,927 square miles), Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean and the largest of Italy’s twenty political regions. It’s about the same size as the US states of Massachusetts or New Hampshire, so by any standards, it’s not a small island. The coastal circumnavigation alone measures over 1000 km, but I have avoided the easier coastline, to deepen my knowledge of the interior of the island, the mountains and the small towns.
Not yet very well known as a cycling destination, tourism on the island is still a growing business, as is the attention paid to this place, right in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea.

In this 32-minute video I visit all nine historic provinces, without avoiding the mountains (including the king, Mount Etna) or the infamous cities, like Corleone.
Follow me on this journey, halfway between a documentary and a cycling diary, to perhaps understand something more about this renowned island, and perhaps, why not, to find out more about your next trip.
