Dr. Thomas Seyfried, discusses cancer as a metabolic disease. He holds a Ph.D. in Genetics and Biochemistry from the University of Illinois and has a background in neurology. Dr. Seyfried has received numerous awards and honors from various organizations, and he has over 150 peer-reviewed publications. He is also the author of the book “Cancer as a Metabolic Disease: On the Origin, Management, and Prevention of Cancer,” published in 2012.

We are a group of enthusiastic medicine students who want to support Prof. Seyfried! Because he never really asks for money… but we know he needs it!

That’s why we created this channel: To spread his word and give you the opportunity to give to his research in a lot of different ways! We will post all the newest videos by him in one place, make special edits, post stuff from collegues in the keto-cancer field as well and we will produce audiobooks of his work!

Over the years, it has become a widely held belief that cancer is predominantly genetic or simply the consequence of bad luck. An empowering evolution in cancer research, however, suggests we have far more control over our risk than previously thought.

Today on The Dhru Purohit Podcast, Dhru sits down with cancer researcher and scientist Dr. Thomas Seyfried to discuss the underlying causes of cancer and why addressing metabolic dysfunction is a very important and often overlooked area of its prevention and treatment.

In this episode, Dr. Seyfried shares the role that oxidative stress, mitochondrial health, and glucose play in the development and progression of cancer. He also discusses his research on ketogenic diets as a promising solution in helping to correct these imbalances. Dr. Seyfried describes the limitations of conventional cancer treatment, the role our modern-day society plays in the risk of cancer, and why diet and lifestyle strategies are an integral part of the solution for prevention and better treatment outcomes.

Dr. Thomas Seyfried is an American professor of biology, genetics, and biochemistry at Boston College. He received his PhD from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1976 and did his postdoctoral fellowship at the Yale University School of Medicine.

Dr. Seyfried has over 150 peer-reviewed publications, and his research focuses primarily on the mechanisms driving cancer, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative diseases and calorie-restricted ketogenic diets in their prevention and treatment. He is the author of Cancer as a Metabolic Disease: On the Origin, Management, and Prevention of Cancer and presently serves on the Nutrition & Metabolism, Neurochemical Research, Journal of Lipid Research, and ASN Neuro editorial boards.

In this episode, Dhru and Dr. Seyfried dive into:
-Beliefs about the origins of cancer not accepted by the mainstream
-What cancer is and why it’s so pervasive today
-Where Dr. Seyfried’s beliefs differ from the conventional cancer model
-The antismoking campaign’s success in cancer prevention
-Metabolic health as a driver of cancer
-The discovery of glucose fermentation and oxidative stress and their link to cancer
-Conventional cancer treatment: could it be causing more harm than good?
    -Mitochondrial damage and cancer
-The ketogenic diet as a promising anticancer intervention
-Dr. Seyfried’s research and case studies
    -Limitations in conventional cancer treatment
-Diet and lifestyle strategies for cancer prevention
-Navigating cancer resources, testing, and treatments
-Invasive vs noninvasive tools for cancer detection
-Dr. Seyfried’s research and the future of cancer treatment and prevention

GKI is the best comparative health metric.

I would like to see the medical industry use this.

    2. My sister got breast cancer, and her oncologist determined that the cancer is feeding off of estrogen. Does this make sense? She’s in remission (2 yrs later), but she’s been put in early menopause, constant meds, vitamins and regular blood tests. Is this normal?

    3. Prof. Seyfried, which country do you think will be the first to use metabolic theory + Don type of meds as a first line treatment against cancer? That country will beat cancer treatment stats by a landslide, and the rest of the world will follow.

      Keep up the good job
      Best wishes from Sweden

    4. Seyfried is on 🔥today! Anyone Still not see the connection with big ag, big medical, and big pharma? Get you addicted, get you sick, keep you sick, and make huge profits until you're dead!! Sugar, grains, and vegetable oils are slow death.

    5. Thank you, Dr Thomas Seyfried, beyond the greatest of measure, for your groundbreaking research and for your invaluable knowledge and for ALL that you are doing for Mankind and for our Humanity !! God Bless You !! Yours sincerely, Omnipotent-Faith 🙏

    6. thank you very much dear doctor . please talk about why kids get cancer. and is the same method for them to treat. please tell doctor to speak about that . thanks again

    8. Thanks again for prof seyfried. Can we get more info on glutamine and meat. Fighting the cancer, I’m carnivore. But if I should suppress glucose and glutamine, then what. Meat is high in glutamine. As is everything in our body. Thoughts plz. Thanks for interview

    9. He does not mention anything about electrolytes as eating very low carb will not give the electrolytes needed. This may cause lots of exhaustion and cardiac arrhythmias.

    10. Do you have a "clinician friend" in Denver, CO. or surrounding area that would like to use me as a test subject? I'm totally agreeable to research AND I'm fat adapted. I'm not only willing to do the work but excited to help you prove and bring this message forward.

    11. CHARITY CHANNEL, ONLY 50% GOES TO SEYFRIED? A GROUP OF MEDICINE STUDENTS? WHERE CAN WE FIND INFORMATION ON THIS CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION? IS DR. SEYFRIED A PART OF THIS? ARE YOU LOCATED IN THE USA OR GERMANY? YOU ARE NOT RATED/ON CHARITY NAVIGATOR. CAN WE SEE THE BREAKDOWN OF WHERE FUNDS GO?
