Xavier Leuleu, MD, PhD, Poitiers University Hospital, Poitiers, France, presents the results from BENEFIT, a Phase III randomized study (NCT04751877) of isatuximab, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone with or without bortezomib in transplant-ineligible patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (MM). At 18 months, measurable residual disease (MRD) negativity was 26% for the control arm and 54% for the bortezomib arm. The addition of bortezomib increased the incidence of adverse events (AEs); however, Prof. Leuleu highlights that the benefits of adding bortezomib to the treatment regimen outweigh the increased risk of toxicities. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
