  1. Looks like the cows followed you to your stay..😂. I haven't done the Cumbria way, but it looks like it's a leg burner. Beautiful, though. I always get a pain in the bottom of my heel on flat walks, but like you say up hills it doesn't.

  2. Funny mentioning arthritic big toe. I'm a big walker (10-20km per week), similar build and age to you and both mine were x-rayed and showed signs of osteoarthritis. I haven't tried a low/zero-carb diet though, so cheers for that.

  3. I love the sounds of the gates opening and clacking shut. I love everything about your vids. I went to uni in Carlisle so brought back some memories. Wish id done more walking when i was living up there. 🤦‍♀️

  4. I feel the same about going through cow fields. I got charged by a Hurd once and surrounded by them all, really close. I shouted and waved but I couldn’t get out of it. Luckily the farmer heard me and came to the rescue. Said they could have trampled me easily. Now they make me so nervous.

  5. Lovely walk! We enjoy the gates, they are all different, and those you step over are somewhat exciting, because we never know what the landing will be: wet, dry, rocky…😁 As for the large critters, 🐄🐴we would go around them as well. While they are lovely to look at, the thought of being kicked or chased does not interest us. (My hubby noticed the picture of the musk ox 🐃over your bed— you just could not avoid the big game!🤭) We are looking forward to the next walk, which was probably quite miserable for you, unless the rain did not arrive. We know but scenery will be gorgeous. Thank you for these walks. We live across the pond, so it is lovely traveling with you in different places! We hope you hip is doing better, and the arthritis has eased up. We really enjoy your speaking to us as though we were there, we laugh when you do, enjoying your comments..

  6. Loved th video!! Cowversion was an interesting move!! I will buy to a pint for that !! Very sensible as 40 plus people die a year trampled by them but I can't help thinking there must be a better way of going through them without upsetting the cows and being trampled. The farmers all seem to take a stick a with a loud noise move through but there must be some science or a protocol around this!!? I have four dogs so yes I put them on a lead but the cows are always bloody inquisitive!! Run Forrest run!! lol

  7. Brilliant video Glenn, and I'm loving the banter, as always. I'm an Essex 'boy' but have lived near Caldbeck for about twenty years. You could have shed about five kilos of kit if I'd known you were 'in town'. Atb.

  8. Great video 😍 and I have no problem watching gates being opened and closed, it’s all part of the walk after all. I’ll be interested to hear how you rate your new shoes. I bought the Hoka Anacapa 2 walking boots about 3 months ago and have worn them well in, I absolutely love them! They’re incredibly comfortable and (so far 🤞🏻) waterproof even after going through lots of fields of long, wet grass. I understand the whole thing about cows and horses, love them to look at but I always avoid them if at all possible. Really looking forward to the next instalment 😊

  9. You are not alone, Cows are the Bain of walkers! 🤬When my dog Kelly was a pup, my partner Alison was carrying him to avoid some but mum cow head butted him and sent Alison flying. Since then, a lot of our walks now involve detours like yourself or have had to cancel.

Tip- avoid Cornwall at all costs it’s riddled with them!

  10. Wearing black everything isn’t going to help during sunny weather. I use those uv protection hoodies in a lighter colour. Not cheap unfortunately, but very effective. Loose fit and super comfortable. Amazingly warm and comfortable when wet too.
Give one a try. Mine is a Simms SolarFlex. Brilliant for hiking

  11. Keep the gate shots! These videos are so soothing, all the greenery is great for the psyche. I'd steer clear of the steer too. If I may, throw in a few detail shots like of those buttercups, or some of the signs, and hold on those stone ruins. I'm a yank in the desert and those details would be interesting. Keep up the excellent work, you are much appreciated!

  12. Thanks! Glenn for another incredible adventure with your Chrismatic way and lovely narration. I aways look forward to your videos because I go and do all your routes myself alone. Yesterday I did Lords Rake via the corridor Route and scramble up past the waterfall from Seathwaite farm. The Scarfells Lords rake, The transverse is incredible for us outdoor people. Scarfell Pike is not the best mountain. The Scarfell lords Rake, Mickledore, Piers gill are wow!!!
    kind regards…. 👍👍👍

  13. Great vid. The sequential video will hopefully be good for your numbers, as I'm certainly looking forward to watching you moan about getting soaking wet 😂

On cows, I'm nervous around them myself, but the stats show it's people with dogs they trample. Probably out of panic, so if Fin isn't around and you let them be, you should be fine. Just match through them and ignore. I was always taught bulls are only a problem if they are alone, if they are in a field with the cows they'll usually be chill…but that may be an old wives tale I'm repeating.

  14. I got attacked by a cow within an inch of my life in Mastiles Lane near Malham Tarn a few years ago. Got some gory photos to prove it. So I always avoid cows and like you will do a mile detour to get around them. There’s a web site called Killer Cows which is scary to read and opens your eyes as to how many cow attacks there are.

  15. Can we go a bit more in-depth on gates? Maybe give each gate a score please (sim to Haze Outdoors)? 🤔 Absolutely love the look of that area north of the lakes, thanks for showing as most people just gloss over it. 👍

  16. Me and my wife got chased by a herd of cows with clalfs and we only just made it to the 5 bar gate. They were running with such speed that they crashed into the gate, we would have been crushed.

  17. Loved this ❤ and can't believe we was so close to you.. we were at Sebergham the same day staying in an airbnb, was going to go to Caldbeck but changed our minds 😮 I'm gutted now I know you were there would of been lovely to meet you ❤
