On the Dutch National holiday, the 30th of April, the Dutch celebrate the birthday of their queen Beatrix of Orange Nassau. Not only in honor of the House of Orange everybody wears the color orange, it is also a sign of togetherness. The celebrations take place on the streets and everybody goes there by bike. Dressed for the occasion, not for cycling.

Is the Dutch National Holiday celebrating her birthday? She was born on January 31st. Her reign began on April 30.
Yes, she was born on the 31st of January but we still celebrate on the 30th of April. That was the birthday of her mother and a far better day for street parties!
nice
Proud to be Dutch 🙂

No, that is a normal bike, every bicycle in the Netherlands can carry passengers. It is also allowed.
Koninginnendag was echt leuk!
Those cycle lanes are super.
You live in a country where as many people cycle as drive. I live in a country where only 1 percent of trips are by bike. You have fantastic cycle lanes that actually go places. I live in a country where cycle lanes are dangerous, narrow, dont go anywhere useful, stop for no reason or most of the time dont exist at all. You live in a country where cycling is normal. I live in a country where most people have special cycling clothes. Here you have to wear a stupid helmet, there you don't. SIGH
But please note that now it is Kings Day, 3 days earlier ! Since 10 years already. You will miss everything if you show up on the old date.
