[Music] so we’re into week three we had a great rest day yesterday after a pretty hard second week but week three is going to be way bigger way harder starts tomorrow with uh more climbing and we’re going up into the Alps for the second time [Music] probably the most beautiful day on a bike just turning scenery throughout so beautiful [Music] great scenery yeah theone is a beautiful place yeah com of the rone Alps times have been pretty gentle so [Music] far we have the little messages and helping to remind you why we’re doing it mhm yeah they’ve been really profound actually in sort of um you know recontextualizing what we’re doing yeah it’s been wonderful to hear from so many [Music] [Music] people so this is uh this is a um in Victory for Haley Amber marsten today is a Victory celebration for her recovery from leukemia contracted leukemia as a kid uh and she battled it and she’s in recovery so today is in Victory for Haley uh within about 6 months after she rang the bell her cousin Hudson contracted leukemia and uh he didn’t respond to traditional drug regime they tried to save him but they couldn’t so tomorrow is in memory of Hudson Marston every day that I’ve been able to ride for somebody there’s been a a spark of magic or presence their presence is near Haley uh applied to Oregon State University and she was initially rejected so I’m going to read the letter she wrote to Oregon State University the reason for the decline in my grades has to do with one word and one word only that word is cancer it was a very long and tough fight but I beat the bully I call cancer I survived with that said even though I survived I could never shake the fear of it coming back cancer came to haunt the best person I have ever met and anyone has ever met my 8-year-old sweet cousin Hudson [Music] that for de wanted to do that [Music] [Music] after finding out this news I watched as my twin sister my mom and my dad all cried shockingly I did not cry I couldn’t cry instead I was filled with so much anger that it was truly Indescribable I was so angry at the world at that moment I just couldn’t understand how this could happen to the family twice it was always only supposed to be me I fought hard my body fought hard and I did it I beat cancer so what did I do I completely shut down I slowly built myself back up and I worked hard because I knew I had to keep going and stay strong for Hudson so that’s what I did I got my grades up and I did summer school and I worked hard then August 18th 2022 God brought Hudson home to heaven when can imagine my reaction and my family’s reaction to this I want to take my experience with cancer and turn into something positive I have never been one to believe that life is about the accomplishments you make I choose to believe that life is how you positively impact others around you and that right there is why I survived cancer I got a second chance in life and I believe that I am still here because I am meant to positively impact people’s lives this is not my St stab story this is my journey she starts freshman year in September today’s for Haley let’s ride for Haley [Applause] sh [Music] [Music] honestly prob the hard to day on the bik coming up the uh BF emotionally I didn’t think I was going to get through today like two miles in Lally I was in Te and thought about 14 miles of this left it’s mile by mile just did it and [Music] right [Music] hon was my Tailwind today such an awesome guy so indicative of why we are here today trying to raise money for leukemia drug trials to help kids have better treatments survive this terrible disease next h on Thursday I received a message from lady called Anna who’s um a patient who I met at the Oxford hematology Center yeah guys so hey this is Luke Ang he’s 9 years old and he’s suffering from leukemia Denise who’s one of the research nurses that we we basically collectively help fund it’s from um my children’s cousin my December 2023 i’ unfortunately relapsed again but this was um but was able to have a new treatment that had been introduced into the NHS I found this extremely harrowing treatment it left me weak confused and extremely fed many people end up in ICU and I’m putting to induced coma to get through it we cannot say how valuable your contribution to AML research really is despite advances in treatments too many people don’t make it through this awful disease it affects all ages young people at the start of their lives middle-aged people who look forward to retirement people who have just retired and are making plans and for those with grandchildren who wish to just spend more time with them we cannot express our thanks for you representing leukemia team here at Blackpool you’re an absolute Legend and we’re an absolute all a of all of your efforts together I like to think of us as one team each bringing different skills and talents you’ve dedicated so much time and effort to raising money for cure leukemia and for advancing Research into this disease together we can beat this cancer that destroys lives and families you cannot express our thanks to you and all the tour team enough everyone is amazing from the support team to the Riders to the nutrition guys to the mechanics words simply can’t do your just can’t do your efforts any justice we’ll continue following your journey and hopefully see you soon [Music]
