ladies and gentlemen welcome to Center Court at the all England lawn tennis club and as is tradition on the middle Saturday of the Championships the club’s chair Debbie jevans in her first year in the post has invited guests from the World of Sport to the Royal box and what a lineup we have we start with what else but tennis and a Spaniard who is celebrating the 30th anniversary of her magnificent Triumph on Center Court along with a big serving Australian who reached the Wimbledon Final in 2003 please show your appreciation for K Martinez and Mark Philipus staying with tennis we have two double Specialists the first was a four-time champion here at the all England Club the last of those titles coming 40 years ago and a Dutchman who won the doubles Final in 1998 to complete a career Grand Slam it’s Peter Fleming and Paul haos we move on to the world of cricket and we are joined by England’s alltime leading run scorer the man who led the team to the T20 World title two years ago and our swashbuckling England test Captain it’s Joe root Josh Butler and Ben Stokes we are also joined by a legend of the game from India Another World Cup winner and the all-time highest run scorer in cricket history please welcome Sachin tendulka now to three multi medal winning Olympians the most decorated female Olympic sailor of all time is joined by the first man to win three Olympic win surfing medals and the ruler of the Waves four times for team GB ladies and gentlemen Hannah Mills Nick Dempsey and S Ben anley now to those who have excelled on two wheels we welcome a pair who have won a remarkable 12 Olympic goals between them they are are the golden super couple of the vdrome and they are here today Dame Laura Kenny and Sir Jason Kenny next a cycling Legend with six Olympic gold medals bowing out after an emotional victory in London and a BMX rider who is the reigning Olympic champion sir Chris Hoy and Beth Trea we welcome a swimmer who will be looking to add to his tally of three Olympic golds in Paris this summer and two hockey heroins who led team GB to the Pinnacle at the 2016 Olympics in Rio the outstanding Adam py and the truly wonderful Kate and Helen Richardson Walsh on to golf a solheim Cup winner who will represent team GB at the Paris Olympics and a former Masters and open champion from Scotland welcome Charlie Hull and Sandy ly we now welcome three iconic stars from Rugby Union first a key player in England’s famous 2003 World Cup victory also World Rugby’s record caph holder with 170 appearances and another Wales Legend who scored that try for The Barbarians in 1973 let’s hear it for Lawrence delalio Alan win Jones and Sir Gareth Edwards what a trio we have from the world of football a lioness who captained England to an unforgettable victory at the 2022 European championships a former England manager who’s career has stretched over six decades and the man who has led Manchester City to 17 trophies it’s Leah Williamson Roy Hodson and Pep Guardiola on to the world of Power Sports and a Sprint sensation who has won seven Paro Olympic gold medals a commonwealth games gold medalist two years ago and a duel sports star who has won Paro Olympic titles in both Athletics and cycling please welcome Hannah cck coft Nathan Maguire and cadina Cox next are two multi-event superstars who both reached seventh heaven with memorable Olympic heptathlon gold medal show your appreciation for Dame Jessica Andis Hill and Dame Denise Lewis and finally we’ve seen summer Olympians and Par Olympians but we finish with two winter sport Legends who are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their Unforgettable gold medal winning performance in Saro whenever you hear Bolero you think of them please welcome Jane torille and Christopher Dean ladies and gentlemen what a stellar sporting lineup we have for you today in the Royal box but since the end of World War II the honory stewards and the Armed Forces joined for more than half a century by the London fire brigade have provided volunteer stewards to the Championships many of the military here today have served their country on operational duty all over the world showing their professionalism and dedication in the most demanding of circumstances please show your appreciation for the Armed Forces we thank them and all stewards for their contribution to the Championships and it is time now in what I know will be a fabulous atmosphere for an outstanding day of tennis here on Center Court thank you [Applause]
