Welcome to my first and possibly last YouTube podcast, mixing my veteran take on bike industry news with what’s coming up on the channel in the next week or so. It’s either a work in progress or not worth progressing at all depending on what you reckon, so please be honest and let me know what you think in the comments below.

and Now for Something Completely Different well not that different it’s still an old man talking about new bike stuff so let’s get straight into it uh it seems like an age ago but Amory piron won the downhill uh with chain stay is essentially made of steel Spokes and so now everyone including Danny Hart’s mechanic Dale is hacking huge bits out of their downhill bikes to make them more flexy it’s been EUR a bike as well I’ve not been since 19 95 because frankly there isn’t really much opportunity to test bikes outside and that’s kind of what I do and there’s just everybody else is doing a ton of content uh DJI seem to have won the content Wars with their new ebike so I’m not going to drone on about that but from people I know who’ve ridden it uh apparently the tech behind it is absolutely next level but the suspension needs some work and so does The Handlebar admin because apparently if you go for the axis shifters you can actually change you can accidentally change channel on this TV the one big uh takeaway that I thought was brilliant from the eurobike was the new Buffalo bike uh which is the bike produced by the world bicycle relief uh organization a charity organization they’ve already supplied 800,000 single speed bikes into Africa which are doing incredible work but because it’s a single speed it’s a bit restricted on why you can take it when it’s hilly or when it’s super loaded and so they’ve introduced the new Buffalo 2 which has a very very simple but really radical transmission and in through Buffalo bike style it has one chain that goes around the outside around the outside and another one that goes around the inside around the inside anyway I’ve got a chat with Tom from Buffalo bike on Friday and I’m really Keen to hear more about that bike other launch news uh YT you’ve probably seen brought out a new lightweight ebike that isn’t actually lightweight it’s got fua motor it’s got a quite a small battery standard fua battery in there but it gets a coil shock and uh it’s quite a Burly build uh apparently offers a supernatural uh ride quality and I think by that I mean it’s quite a common way to describe ebikes at the moment I think what they mean is super natural because it feels quite natural rather than something that Scooby-Doo and Shaggy would be interested in but uh it does come with a custom black uh SS Fox spring and custom black handlebar and stem from Ral so it does have a spooky element if you’re thinking of theming your Halloween costume on a new ebike other news launches very very low key one from Tre it was like they were trying to crack a fart in a funeral really so they’ve sneaked out news on the new slse which is basically a slash with a fancy paint job and new flight attendant suspension and the new Top Fuel one of their bestselling bikes and multiple uh bike of the Year Award winner which if you’re into that kind of thing and I think think you know this is a big big launch for them but all we got was a PDF and a opportunity to chat to Engineers which hasn’t happened yet but I will make sure that happens because hopefully I’m getting one in for test it should be here very very shortly and this bike sounds like a bit of me especially cuz my main gripe with the previous one was it rode brilliantly but it was a bit heavy so what they’ve done is they’ve taken 200 Gams on average out of the frame and they’ve sorted out its bits so it’s easier to slide things in an out of with now it’s had its bits sorted and you know no sniggering at the back there bits is what Trek call their internal storage systems but the really interesting thing in terms of radical changes is new lapier Spicy now spicy completely dominated testing about 10 years ago it was the bike that won pretty much every test alongside its smaller sibling the zesty and then lapia went off into the eite world and they’ve kind of done a lot of good work there aesthetically some challenging decisions but from a practical Performance Point of View apparently very good again not ridden one of those because ebikes are a bit I’m kind of drifting away from ebikes a bit but more maybe more on that later but the big new difference with this Bice is the main pivot is completely movable so you can have it as a standard bike uh low pivot bike for you kind of more pedy pumpy stuff and then if you’re doing the big Rowdy stuff and want that big uh real axle path without any interference with your pedaling then you can unbolt the rear swing arm shift it up the seat tube stick an idler roller on and call it a high pivot which sounds like it could be a disaster or absolute stroke of Genius but niio is involved in the development as with all laier so it’s probably going to be genius level in terms of what I did last week I rode a GT sensor St in the Peak District on cheeky Trails which reminded me how good riding the Peak District was but also raised a question a lot of questions about how do you define value with bikes at the moment when some of them like this GT are being sold at half price so uh and then on the way home picked up a new Solaris from s orotic so he did a talk ground on that uh before I brought it home ready to get it dirty testing this week and also I got some uh behind the scenes news on some very very exciting stuff coming up in the gravel World which which will blow your mind in terms of ratios and dimensions uh of some fairly critical products that I can’t say anymore about that until August uh also dug a lot into uh find kind of finally finish me testing on the new trp drive train uh so look out for reviews on that and I meant to do a bunch of other stuff but kind of Life got in the way and so all you got were a couple of Tire views one gravel one XC in which I literally called one of them a bag of sh but uh that seems to have gone down well so expect uh new test from WTB Continental uh Challenge and schalber they’re all on the roster and then this weekend I did a bit of riding but my knees a bit knackered after an off the previous week so only short stuff and to be honest the weather was so on uh Sunday I just went Trail building and tidied up the trails at stainburn instead so that means this week coming up uh I’ve got to uh finish off the GT review got to do a tech check on the marina big trail H taale but most importantly I’ve got to catch up on a huge amount of reviews not least a bunch of reviews from the people who are kind enough to sponsor me on the Travel Channel because I’ve been absolutely appalling at uh covering their conscious about it because there sponsors are kind of like don’t want to kind of seem like I’m pushing their product which is ridiculous cuz they’re actually let’s be honest they’re paying me so I can stand here and talk about stuff so it seems ridiculous that I’m not talking about that stuff more so we’ve got new tools from feedback some of them in here yeah we’ve got new stuff from laign I need to do the uh PT’s uh grips uh which have really I mean they’re brilliant but they’ve really caused me a headache but more of that in the review I’ve got a new we have to see whatever’s in this box from talk uh I’ve got a good idea but uh need to oh need to talk to you I mean introduce the fact oh definitely now I’ve had now Enduro is a tricky one because it’s taken me well over a year to prove just how good their products are you know headsets bottom brackets stuff like that just how good their products are so although they’ve theoretically been sponsoring me for year I haven’t actually invoiced them because apart from a video I did at AR Rock uh I haven’t really given them any coverage Bes s hashtags and ATS on the socials but I’ll do a full Deep dive on why why that’s why dururo bearing kit is probably the best cost effective uh upgrade you can make to your bikes uh new kit from time who are now on board a sponsor and 100% Sports spectacles are now getting behind GK TV so a lot to chat about as well as like random stuff like Bob and Brad personal massager which I mean I guess it could be kinky but actually it’s a really yeah um I’m I’m a physiotherapist well not by trade but I did a bit of physio training so uh more insights from that uh I I wrote some notes I’m not going to lie I actually tried to script this but uh what so what have I missed out oh yeah the stiff Squatch which some of you have been noticed has been hanging about in the corner of the workshop for ages is got a full bull cut for it now so that absolutely has to become a bite because not least because right in that big trail hard tail from Mar really got me back into the idea of Hardcore hard tales and how much fun they can be and this is about as hardcore as you can get in terms of geometry plus it’ be really interesting to see how steel compares to alloy because you know there’s a lot of cliches being thrown about but be interesting to see how they actually stand up on the trail uh so uh might have that new Tre Top Fuel arriving this week and hopefully the new deca XC bike which could be the absolute bargain been doing superbly well on the World Cup it’s not really new it was introduced last year but I finally managed to track down a review sample of that so that’s going to be really really exciting to look at so if you haven’t turned off yet let me know uh what you want to see in what order what you’re really interested in what you’re not and whether this whole news thing is a thing that you’re interested in watching obviously I’ll get some viewer numbers but your feedback could be welcome on it if you want to see me in a suit behind desk in a wood in the back of a van or doing the full John C’s fast show uh funny voices I you know I can do irritating funny voices for as long as you can put up with them if that’s what you want uh but yeah or should I just crack on with doing reviews rather than wasting you know it took me it’s probably taken me about by the time I’ve edited this it will take about 3 hours so that’s that’s a quarter of a working day and if you don’t think it’s worth it then I could have done a couple of reviews probably in this time instead so let me know whether you like this and uh push some buttons down below so that YouTube knows that you love me daily uh if you really like what I’m doing consider buying me effectively buying me a virtual Brew on patreon and uh when you go shopping for your bicycle kit please consider my industry sponsor who I’ll be putting up at the end but for now I’ve been guyen from Guy TV letting you know what’s been happening in the world of bikes and what’s going to be happening on this channel for

    1. I thought you were going to slag off a Podcast called unclipped, that would’ve been a bit spicy for Guy Kes Tv, but no the only spicy news was from Lapierre

    2. Might be abit pointless but how about doing a secondhand bike review for those on a budget that are not so mainstream bikes ie banshee bikes ?? Stuff you want get your hands on ?? Plus looking forward to seeing the review on the new cotic Solaris 👍

    3. I like it. A reasonably short round up of what's going on in the bike world.
I like @kevinrobins2190 's suggestion of 2nd hand bike reviews.
I'd go a bit further and do a feature on what to look for/avoid in 2nd hand bikes – esp e-bikes.

    4. hi Guy, could you reach out to Dekerf to see if they'd send you a frame for review? I'd love to actually see a a true review of this classic bike brand and their iconic status that is well deserved, there is nothing on youtube but one lucky guy who received one of their titanium frames, the lucky bast…..

    5. Great content as ever Guy! Can’t wait to see the review of the Stif….. quick question, new gravel groupset recommendation Shimano GRX or SRAM rival?

    6. Accidentally went 2x speed 😅 Didnt think you could talk any faster 😂 actually i love this podcast format, time for some guests too!

    7. Yeah I like the round up/news thingy and I personally think you should cover some of the other bike related products not just bikes 🤷‍♂. Yes there's a lot out there like this but I view specific channels not just for the product info and the reviews but the knowledge, experience and personality of the broadcaster.

    8. HI Guy,
Good to see you but love the on bike reviews best and the odd tech talk around.
Think your the best at it!
Plenty of other people doing news on YouTube so usually pretty well informed!
      Keep up the good work!
      👍
