I’ve got something really cool to show you today because behind me is the team truck of De catalon a deser laal and this is a team that’s really stepped up this year and we’ve been allowed to go inside the team truck and see what’s going on and show you it so let’s go do it I mean firstly starting with the outside you can see today is a really really hot day um and so you can see the doors already opened up and the canopies are giving the mechanics crucially a place where they can work in the shade let’s [Music] go the first thing to point out and I think it’s quite an important thing is that this bus uh or team truck is an extender uh so it’s it’s one of those ones which we’ve shown before from other teams that uh when it’s parked up it extends out telescopically and becomes its TARDIS inside creating a huge space to work from now as I said we’ve shown those before but this is new for the team before they just had a normal narrow team truck but it’s one of the differences and I think it’s important that highlights that how the team has a bigger budget now you know part of the success of the team is down um to having that bigger budget and one of the things in which that one of the ways in which that materializes is having a better team truck like this that does extend something that you know shouldn’t be taken for granted now if we start over here by the entrance we’ve got like a little workbench area um with a vice an important thing um don’t often see vices inside team trucks but vices are so useful for for repairing things and hitting them with hammers um there’s also a load of drawers here and um they’re also all labeled in French this being a French team but it’s pretty easy to work out what’s in them so we’ve got Cordon Chargers guess that’s the charge cords for the DI 2 do you speak French ah plateau chain Rings that’s full of chain Rings there you go learn something every day there’s air conditioning in here but it doesn’t have much natural light doesn’t have any uh windows in the ceiling like some of the other team trucks which is quite a nice feature to have uh up here though we have got a compressor so they can do air from that and dry off the bikes that’s like the thing that team trucks have that I really want in my own house is an air compressor that’s what I want for Christmas we have got a full Suite of wheels in here there are hundreds of them I me the amount of money stored in here is obscene um but they’re all full swissside hadron Wheels full range of depth so we’ve got 500s uh which are 50 mil deep um all the way down here to the lighter ones which are uh 380 so 3.8 CM deep or 38 mil um and then over here we’ve got the deeper ones the 625’s which they use on the flatter stages s Bennett as a sprinter likes to use those as well and there’s a few time Tri Wheels over there including the uh swissside disc wheel which looks rather cool um on these there’s Continental tires they’re sponsor of the team uh but interestingly though the team aren’t running them tubeless like most other teams they’re actually running them with um uh TPU inner tubes to save weight so there’s a big box of pelli TPU inner tubes down there and really interesting detail actually is the type of bikes that are in the truck so at the moment it’s the van risel a uh standard road bikes the team ride they look fantastic there aren’t many TT bikes in here and that’s because they’re mostly in a separate truck at the service course in shury and that’s going to come down for the time trial at the tour in on stage seven and so there’s a big like logistical thing here uh to to to balance as well and work out and so that truck comes separately later on for when they need it there is an exception though and there are a couple of time trial bikes in the truck uh there’s this one which belongs to uh Felix G and there’s also Bruno amar’s time trial bike and I’m guessing that’s because they’re more sort of dedicated um they want to do better in the time trial and so they’re focused either on GC or the time trial itself in the case of amri and so they’re wanting to do sort of warm ups and warm Downs on the time trial in between the stages for from now till the stage s time trial also Felix G’s time trial helmet here which is pretty cool Fox saw in a box uh Von reel on there let’s have a look at that this looks really cool that is nice isn’t it very nice like it and uh the other thing that catches my eye on this xcr TT bike uh from V reel is this data Swiss side cockpit it’s so neat with this monor Riser and then also it’s got these extra shift buttons on here and then this bridge in the middle for the Wahoo computer lots of 3D printing going on here lots of carbon it looks proper nice so most of the bikes aren’t in here at the moment and that’s because they are either on the back of the team car or being ridden by the team so what we’ve got in here is basically the the spare ones um and you can see also there’s this thing which has now become common on the team trucks of having these USB uh sockets they’ve also got plug sockets there as well and so many di2 cables all ready to go so that they can make sure that the bikes never get flat batteries not just on the di2 but also the the power meters it’s quite useful that they share the same charger few more little details uh there’s a bike fitting jig strapped to the wall there in that box we’ve seen those before they’re pretty common you see quite a lot of teams have those now so they can make sure that every Rider’s bike has the exact same position and they can replicate a position from a bike onto another bike um so they’re really useful bits of kits and with we also have air conditioning unit at the back there’s a fuse box in there and the most important bit of tech in any team truck the coffee [Music] machine also something really cool I’ve seen on the wall here and this is a great example of how the team is really focusing on every element of performance possible and how the team has sort of evolved and changed on the wall here is a very detailed tire pressure chart for you know different conditions for different of tires and different things for all the different Riders so all the Riders based on their weight and system weight of their bikes and Wheel and Tire they’re using have a specific tire pressure it’s that important um proper cool although it’s top secret I can’t show you the numbers so you just going have to believe me just want to show you some of the outside of the a you deser uh truck it’s a Renault of course it is uh there’s like a cleaning station set up here so they has a big water tank in here and the pressure washers all connected to this so they can clean all the vehicles um and the bikes cuz they clean everything uh in the front just behind the cabin is actually a laundry room and a load of Cupboards in there where the swan years can wash and laund all of launder it sounds like the like the mafia well you know that is right is launder where the swan can launder not money but all of the kit of the Riders after every stage get your washing done for you nice uh and then under there is a storage space where they keep loads of nutrition uh cleaning products and bluming loads of water which is useful and cool boxes which is useful because it is baking hot today this is a cool little detail for you there’s a big bag of rubber bands here and the swan years are using those to connect gels to beedon like this so that when they pass a bottle a feed to a rider or from the team cart they get a bottle of water and the gel they need so we’ve got a a Bea fuel strawberry and lime gel here and then this bead on is just water and and I know that it’s just water because of the marking that they tipex on onto the top of the lid and that tells you what’s in the bead on so if a rider wants a carbohydrate mix bead on um then they have a different symbol on the top but o means it’s just water kind of what you want on a day like today all right I hope you’ve enjoyed this look inside the catalon Aziza laal team truck um propal and great to see like the team just doing so well this year and it’s really stepping up also I’ve just been checking to the mechanics they have some exciting things going on for the mountain stages of the tour where they’ve got some lightweight modifications they’re making to their bikes um to make them they reckon s of 6.7 6.8 kilos which is rather cool um so stay tuned for that and if you want to see more uh stuff from the tour France more Pro Bikes more team trucks like this make sure you subscribe because we’ve got more coming and loads on the channel right I’m going to go now love you bye

    1. Is a 1.5HP air compressor enough to seat a tubeless tire? Out of curiosity I looked up air compressor and the cheapest one at my local hardware store is 1.5HP. I have no idea if that is strong or not. Shockingly, my track pump with the air blaster canister thingy cost more 😂

    2. Did you guys ever do a video on a Volkswagen van mobile home used for bike missions? If so I think that's the video that made me subscribe

    3. Loved the video. I have a few questions if you don't mind. Do you look at your garmin VO2 calculation and how does it compare it these lab results? I use the garmin number to track changes and was trying to see if I should put any value in the absolute number. Are you seeing your VO2 decrease at altitude and increasing at sea level and how long does it take to change? The reason I'm asking is that I use my Garmin to track VO2 improvement as a way to track fitness changes. I live at altitude (about 1,000 higher than Boulder) and when I go to sea level and train for 5 or 6 days, my VO2 increases about 3 pts and then returns to where it was when I go back to altitude after about a week. After a recent trip to sea level, I got the 3 pt bump going from 66 to 69 (take that with a grain of salt) and when I returned to altitude it dropped 1 pt but has held steady at 68 for 5 weeks now. I'm not sure how to interpret that improvement. I should really get tested in lab, but wanted to see what I can learn from my watch.

    4. I have a compressor in my garage, with the hose reel mounted to the ceiling, and a coil hose hanging down by my workstand. They really are a useful tool to have, seating tubeless tires, inflating tires, drying chains, removing slide on grips on MTB and BMX etc… It's also quite handy to power my nail guns!

    5. How can it possibly be possible for someone to ride with inner tubes and 25 mm.. and unwaxed chains.. it shouldn't be possible???

    6. 'Plug socket' – ffs. What the f does that mean ? A plug or a f-ing socket ?? Jesus efing f will people stop saying 'plug socket' its the dumbest stoopidist thing. Its completely meaningless ! its either a plug or a efing socket – how on earth can it be both ?!? ffs !!! you don't look at a penis and say 'thats a penis vagina' or likewise, look at a vagina ands say, 'thats a penis vagina' !!!! holy f moly dont they teach anything at school anymore ??!?

    7. where is the video of Vedangi Kulkarni's bike loadout? The main channel video said it would be on this channel but its nowhere to be seen

    8. Not bragging, but i taught art to, and coached mountain biking for one young student here in canada, and he so fell in love with cycling that he went out to Oregon to learn how to ne a frame builder. Then he went to Europe to lead bike tours and now hes the top mechanic for Israel Premier Tech…
Im more proud of him tjan almost any other student i ever taught. His parents are wonderful peolle.
      Go Derek Gee !
