HALLSTATT – A MUST VISIT MOTORHOME DESTINATION in AUSTRIA

Oldest Salt Mine, Europes Longest Slide, Funicular, Caves, Biking, Hiking, Cruises, Hallstatt has it all! We find a great Motorhome Parkup for €28 per night in this Iconic Austrian Destination.

We nearly didn’t visit Hallstatt following the reports in the news of overcrowding and the locals not being happy with tourists. We are so glad we did, sure the town is a little busy but overall no more so than other tourist places in Austria. The Aire we stayed on did fill up but not until later in the evening so plan to arrive by mid afternoon, there is another fire if this one is full nearby.

[Music] morning morning wet hair not from the rain actually had a shower the showers are amazing they’re really hot and there’s even one of those old fashioned like things you put your head under , what do they call it I have no idea you’ve got grass on your face he’s been outside cleaning my God but you noticed it didn’t you, I did it’s like a hairdresses thing but you just stick yourself under one of those machines. Didn’t use it obviously [Applause] [Music] I’ll what to do could somebody come and take me away I’ve been in the day without you and I got it in my head night and day but we are one step closer We’re All in This Together put your hand in mine and We Are One Step Closer Can you feel it baby it’s the end of the line it looks like we made it let’s get on [Music] WE it looks like we made it let’s get it we going to strong it looks like it looks like yeah looks like we made it let’s get we go strong it looks like we made [Music] it so we’re in the air tonight it’s €2 a night for 24 hours parking. You do have to go and pick up a registration document which has details for your tourist taxes and it has all the information how to fill it in. Little bit fiddly and they also want you to fill out a form with passport details, address, nationality and things like that so we have folded it over so they can clearly see we’ve done it but nobody else knows and that then gets popped into the registration box with all your details and you put your pennies in there as well for how many days you’re staying so it’s 3 isn’t it per person. So we put 12 in there Andy will show you all the details of what we have around here and the very gorgeous Lake which I haven’t even seen yet – exciting, you can carry on and eat your chocolate crossant got our €12 in there for two nights tax and it’s going in that box there, that’s also the place where you pick up the forms from. Some bins there, toilet block which is open during the summer, the only thing not here is grey waste but it says not to use it because it filters straight into the lake You get fresh water which you pay for , free to dump your chemical. So here’s the lake very close, ideal swimming but it is a touch cold. I’m thinking we might even stay here longer than two days there’s quite a lot to do. Ticket machine here, select motorhome it comes up €22, put your card in or scan your contactless and then press okay and out pops the ticket. Parked up had a look around, now we’re going to walk into the town which I think it’s about 1.7 miles There’s loads and loads of things to see around here and there’s one thing in particular that Andy showed me and he’s super excited about but you’re going to have to watch and see later, one small clue that is it’s Jaw dropping, too much too much! It’s a very good foot path stroke cycle path all the way into Hallstatt, I said it wrong first time that’s why we’re laughing just spotted a funicular, so love a funicular we do [Laughter] There’s one Campsite in the center of Hallstatt but it doesn’t have good reviews this is why we didn’t go there and it’s very expensive very handy though for the town that was actually 2 miles and half an hour at a brisk Pace from the aire to the salt mine, that was super fast 840m [Music] it isn’t exactly clear on the directions which way to walk to the tour but it’s it’s this way, not along the sky Bridge it’s up The Path this I feel like I’m on some sort of film set like Handmaids Tale , we’re walking around in these uniforms We’re going to go on a train do you think? it’s a long way to walk if we don’t I think it’s no coincidence our outfits are white because with all that salt down there, anything that’s not covered is going to end up with white marks on it probably our boots too. Stay between the rails yeah you’ve been off the rails a few times Haven’t you, no you’re so bad it’s getting colder which is good it’s really warm in these suits and just dropped another degree 30km of tunnels so you could nearly run a marathon, nearly but who would do that that’s our big Bingo do not scratch down with your shoes on the floor you can topple over you can smash your face those slides are massive yes perfect it’s very smooth actually it’s very controlled actually I thought it would go faster [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] wo it’s different oh off the taste like [Music] wow fabulous woo that was fun. Well as tours go that was really good wasn’t it really enjoyed it super, really, really good the activities, the slides, the train , information, the visuals, just the way it was done so professional, really, really definitely recommend We’ve had some pure salt, two different sorts haven’t we so now I’m feeling rather thirsty. We’ll go the proper way back, the way we came wasn’t the right [Music] all that salt down there has made a the need for one of these all the more important and just look at the view [Music] oh [Music] there’s always a shop at the exit. Well that was a good 3 and a half hours well spent wasn’t it , oh it’s amazing, loved it all so now we finally get to explore Hallstatt [Music] this is for YouTube oh up [Music] [Music] [Music] Good morning, morning , special day today it’s our anniversary it is a six years and 17 years together God I need an award. Not decided about food yet because nothing is looking that amazing is it for food. They havent’t got very good reviews, very tourist and overpriced Its not going to beat Croatia is it where we went last year. Change of plan we’ve seen this sign looks good going to go that way [Music] this is just a fabulous place. Every day we’re finding great things to do, didn’t realize there’s a cycle track around the lake, well I don’t think it’s on the other side but it it this side [Music] [Music] just looking at that place across the river there what’s strange is its like somebody’s house it’s got a garage and a front door I’d say it’s a house [Music] hello so last year it was Dubrovnik which is very nice in terms of view, food, very expensive and we were dressed slightly differently rather than being in lycra as we normally are, yeah this year one of probably the most iconic photographed places in Austria, Beautiful by the water’s edge here, we have pizza so not quite as classy really but it looks nice it doesn’t it and it’s going to be a lot cheaper so win win Do you mind, no, uh no I’ve not drunk that much I know I have, oh my god seriously [Music] this is the captain he’s happy because he’s just finished his shift Duck is happy [Music] too [Music] I know how cold it is hand on hips let me survey the whole situation get ready any minute now there you go, there it is (Hands on Hips) [Music] [Music]
