[Music] hi my name is John and I wanted to give you a quick introduction and a bit of context to the following footage this is a picture of me wearing my luminous cycling helmet and this is my friend new doing what he does best two years ago myself knew and our other friend Ian agreed we were to do a meaningful trip multi-part physically challenging and something that maybe had a bit of space for self-reflection the Camino de Santiago the way of st. James in northern Spain was the obvious choice we walked the first leg of the communal take the northern route less popular than the main 420 17 from the rim and the French pulled up to go by then lasya we walked the next stages we will bow all the way through to Santander we had an amazing time on both ships but we were impatient to make progress and doing a weekly chunk of the communal once per year was getting frustrated so we agreed to cycle a big chunk this year from Santander to Bulava around 420 kilometers disappointingly ian was in to join because of work commitments the early one Sunday morning in May Nev and I set out pretty gingerly on higher bikes through the quiet streets of Santander and carried on cycling for the next seven days what follows is some of the cycling footage amazingly we only had one flat tire and I only fell off my bike once this is my first youtube video so it’s not slick or flashy but we hope that it gives an idea of the kind of terrain you can expect if you plan to cycle any or all of the community objects next year we’ll be back to walking typhoon the last 125 kilometers on foot from vallabha to Santiago de Compostela sir James under a field of stars when Camino [Music] I’m greetings from the first cycling day of a commune 2019 bike meadow and we’re a bike 14 kilometers N and we’re gonna do a 360 panning shots of the lovely bucolic scenery passing honey over there there’s some time down that directed yeah probably and we’ve got about another 50 yards kilometres to go to get that place called Camilla and we’re going to be staying tonight watch out for your social media channels and your data with the war every day when Selena in Covina [Music] [Music] [Music] and this is the reality of bite Mia he had lots of time in the road you get lost entirely time but sometimes it’s just I really big hill you can see new up in front there fishings might we think big hill we’re gonna have to do today amazingly we’d run outta water and we’re heading at a time but luckily we spotted this little fine turn which is daughter’s Fightin’s like this our daughters along the Camino so today for eyes as we were about to head into Hills this is actually a proper lifesaver [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] hi everybody its Andy forth on the Camino we’re on Rick today to an a piece called LP tow we just wanted to show you about 40 minutes ago we were in a town having lunch having such a TIA and now we’re in the middle of nowhere and this beautiful track and there’s nobody around at all and we’re gonna just bomb down there in a second we talked a lot on the kamini about bucolic a news invented a scaled beautiful points and this is definitely high up there nearly kill her John let’s get on it the mine said it [Music] [Music] [Music] cuz she passed incredibly professional [Music] [Applause] [Music] you

    1. Hey, I'm thinking of cycling the Camino Del Norte in September. I'm not a great cyclist and won't have much time to prepare, so I'd like to know how physically demanding is it? Are there lots of big hills to tackle? Time shouldn't be an issue

    2. Why in God’s name you chose that mindless background music, I wonder? It just defeats massively the joy of watching the scenery. Real shame you had to choose that awful soundtrack…

    3. I like the video. It is very interesting. What kind of app did you use to follow the route and is this route is well marked. I am planning to do this route or el camino del norte in August. Thank you.

    4. I am going to walk the Camino Northern route this September and would like to bike the last stretch. I'm wondering if I have to reserve a bicycle ahead of time or can I just show up in a town like Gijon and rent a bike for 5 days? Do you happen to know?

    5. Hi guys … not sure if u still looking at comments. Thinking of doing the Del Norte next year 2023 but was surprised this video seemed to show it was mostly countryside, forest etc riding whereas I had the impression the Del Norte was more coastal. Didn't see much of that in this ??

    6. Great video, cheers. I'm pondering doing this (Santander to Santiago de Compostela) next year. You went in May, what was the temperature like in the evenings on the plateau? I'll be wild camping and don't want to have to take winter gear!! But also I don't want to be baking in the daytime….. many thanks 😉

    7. HI Thanks for making this video, Were they gravel or mountain bikes, I'm thinking of taking my gravel bike on the same route as yourselves, in your 8 days did you have any rest days and did you bike or train it back to Santander, also I notice you weren't carrying a huge amount of luggage so did you port this ahead? I'm sorry for all my questions but and look forward to your reply. Ps Did you finish the Camino?
