hi and welcome to WannaGoBiking from Sault where I’m about to mount well one of the most iconic mountains in the world really, the Mont Ventoux. At least I’m going to try so this is set to be the easiest of the three options well we’ll see how that pans out yeah so I’m not quite sure what I’ll report along the way because it’s basically 26k up and then down again but there should be some nice Outlook points so looking forward to those rest points all right I won’t procrastinate any longer and just step on the bike before I decide to just stay in all right see you later 26 km great.. so these are definitely the gentler slopes 4 to 5%, few patches of eight and that’s it for the first 20K and then the real hard work begins I thought there would be many more cyclists to either overtake or to overtake me that gives a bit more of a dynamic but I only saw one, the rest is coming down so they’re all early birds I suppose well not me well according to the GCN tech guys if you go slower than 16k you don’t have to take into account anything aerodynamic which is good as well cuz I’m packed like a mule so aerodynamics are out of the game today and I’m going 12 well that’s well within the margin then. I think I’m fine Allez, bravo ! actually over took an ebike, made my day well got to say: so far the first part up to the Chalet Renard is easier than I remembered cuz I did once before 6 seven years ago on a bike that was 5 kilos lighter and I may have been a bit lighter as well so yeah so far so good I think it’s about 6K to the Chalet Renard, I’m not sure if it’s open cuz the other day actually I came over there on in my car and already filmed in Pre-sight or actually is it now hindsight? already filmed a few drone shots so I think they they go well with the film anyway I’ll try to save my breath and energy up until the Chalet where I’ll have a little rest and then the final 6K all right see you what prey tell is that? an elk, moose? bonjour how’s it going? second time today so second time oh my God I take my hat off, once is enough for me. "once is enough for me as well" oh my word don’t know what possed me to go the second time so you came from the other side first time? came from Bedoin that’s the harder part, "yeah you’re telling me, yep the guys I’m over with, they’re doing it three times yeah not for me ah yeah if I were 20 years younger but not anymore I don’t have to prove anything you know that’s my view as well I’m doing this for fun I was just going to go back down to Malaucene, where we’re staying yeah but then someone said ah why don’t we get down to Sault for dinner yeah yeah yeah yeah wow it’s a nice bike Titanium or? Titanium cool it’s a hired bike I’m over with a tour group very good actually bikes are very good cool so where abouts an Ireland do you live? down Cork down south oh yeah how about you where you from? Groningen in the Netherlands yeah yeah oh boy, and now it really starts 6K 9% 10% oof 7% ,only means gets harder after wow look at that incredible what a landscape look at that view sensational wow all right 3Km to go I know those last 2K are hell so that doesn’t help right seems I made it oh those last 2 and 1/2k were tough The percentages were not even as bad as I thought but somehow it’s just completely drained me after 20 plus climbing already but it is quite a reward isn’t it? what an incredible site and the best thing is now I go downhill let’s see average speed 13.8 it’s 20° here that’s a lot warmer than I thought it would be well let’s briefly stop here at the Tommy Simpson monument incredably gifted cyclist h e was world champion my word yeah ah what a sad story an absolute Champion the guy was and dying here for sports that’s not good well he’s a legend all right as is this mountain right slowly descending it’s very windy all of a sudden so I’ll take it easy all right see you later Sault, here we are again brings back good memories, playing Jeux de Boules on holidays right that’s it from the Ventoux back to Sault wow I an epic climb it was in parts easier than I thought it would be certainly easier than I remembered it but ultimately last 2 3K also cracked me as did many other people, saw quite a few people just stopping so I didn’t do that so kudos for me yeah I’m actually quite proud that I’m still able to do it all right I hope I can make this into a viewable video if not then you’ll have to find something else on the internet but anyways thanks for watching enjoy your rides stay safe out there see you in the next one salut au revoir
