The Transalpina located in the Parâng Mountains group, Southern Carpathians of Romania, is one of the highest roads of the Carpathian Mountains. It connects Novaci, south of Parâng Mountains, to Sebeș in the north. It is the highest road in Romania, having the highest point, Urdele Pass, at 2,145 m. The road took its name from latin, meaning the country beyond the mountains (Romania), but is also nicknamed “The King’s Road”, because King Carol II, after which he rebuilt it in 1935, he inaugurated by going through it himself with the royal family. Although it is much older than Transfagarasan, it is less known because Transalpina, although it is listed partially as a national road, DN67C , was never paved until 2009.
