    this is still doesn’t feel real but it is it is real I’m doing it so something interesting is happening today so it’s day three the final day and Laura and Daisy are going to join us for a run aren’t you you’re going to come for a few KS which is going to be fun I need to get my Sunday 7K in you do need to get your Sunday running so what we’ve arranged to do is at the first checkpoint I uh probably will just replenish my water and snacks and stuff and then instead of you driving off you’re going to come with me and then you’re going to sort of turn around and then go back for the car so we’ve got four planned checkpoints today um one of them is not far from the finish and we could have bypassed it but that would mean me going about 18K without a pit stop and I think I really need them to definitely towards the end so I know that’s annoying for you cuz then you’ve got to make a trip into bath to park but yes it’s day three I can’t believe I’ve managed to get to day three there was a point when I thought I was going to call it a day at cleave Hill at 38k and now I’m at 113 so 51k to go day three let’s go actually I’ve got to eat me porridge first then we’ll go half seven so we’re starting an hour later than day one half an hour later than day two clear left okay day one day two day three W under Edge the next one is Somerset Monument 12K away so I’ve budgeted an hour and 40 uh which is probably realistic because I’ve got to get up that in so an hour and 40 from now which is it’s about half 7 so I’ll see about 8 uh 9 10 9 10 9 yeah and then Toman court and then cold dton then Western bass and bass Cathedral okay there you go see L days give me a little give me a touch no right there he touch no okay right see you 12K about an hour and 40 see in a bit better start the watches now driver it never happened here we go then day three see what happens today lap one 750 I feel really tired I couldn’t get out of bed this morning I set the alarm for 5:00 snoozed it until 600 and then uh as a result I had a slightly later start it started at half 7 today but this is the least amount of miles I’m running today so we still finish it a similar time I imagine it’ll be hopefully similar to about 4: 4:30 again that sub nine would be nice but yeah a little quick inventory of what’s hurting meart from staying in the office and saying everything my feet so I’ve got blisters big toes outsides of my big toes so they’re really sore and I’m wearing my road shoes today my sock these cuz they’re they’re they’re just really comfortable and I think they’re slightly better than the Rebox but if these get wet at one of the checkpoints I’ll just stick the Rebox back on cuz they’ll be dry by now um cars are fine obviously quads are killing cway yeah quads are killing me and so are my hamstrings but once you get going they’re actually okay it’s just when you’re asleep when you’re sleeping and you wake up you feel really grumbly and felt like an old man this morning then bit higher my ribs before we go there had some serious undercarriage chafe yesterday so that’s why I’ve got different shorts on and cycling shorts my fault for not Vaso up going a bit higher my ribs my constant water bottles and things that I’ve been carrying have just been compressing and um yeah my ribs just feel bruised constantly which doesn’t make running very pleasant so I’m sure that will start to hurt in a few case time and then a little bit higher neck and back caught the sun yesterday so that’s why I’m in a t-shirt now and I’ve even got a buff what might stick around me uh to keep the Sun away and then my head uh head gear in case the Sun comes out it’s going to be quite overcast I think today but you never know [Music] well this is [Music] sketchy C away what you supposed to jump this B water I sound absolutely sound lads did it right now which way we going left CW way straight on but I don’t know which way that’s not even stuck in the ground so that’s not helpful what you saying that way H hang on I can see a thing in the [Music] distance I would always choose to follow the actual way markers than you watch or other people but sometimes it’s so easy to lose these markers so easy because my watch has been wrong a few times and I’ve followed it but it turns out it’s right on this occasion we going this way sound [Music] [Music] the sections like these are so welcome gentle downhills sometimes you get these really Steep downhills and your quads just scream at you stop stop stop but these very runnable can pick up the pace and the effort feels really low so sections like these really nice [Music] [Music] [Music] heart quiet 9:00 in time for a bit of breakfast actually second breakfast of the day cuz I’ve already had porridge this stuff is so good good I’m going to start eating this on a daily basis I’m going to send the bill to Brett Ellmore it’s his fault that he’s got me onto this 42.2 left to go just a marathon standing in between me and the end of the cotw way in bath come on there’s the somerset Monument which means I’m within a few yards of today’s first checkpoint so I’ve got to find Laura hopefully well I’m sure she has she’s probably parked along the CW way cuz there’s a little road section so that’s why we agreed to do it here so yeah 12K in day 3 Sunday the 23rd of June doing okay doing okay so checkpoint two just made it and uh my sorry just look away if you’re a bit screamish for a minute cuz I’m going to show you me feet basically I’ve got a blister on me foot on me toe and it’s the same color me endorphin speed 3es look at that bad boy so I’ve just changed my socks cuz I was wearing these like well I guess they’re Road running socks but they’re letting in so much debris in the into the back of like where my kiles and my heel is and I can just feel it in my shoes and it’s really doing my head in so we’re going to put the black ax socks on which uh yeah they won’t let any debris in so quick costume change and then we’re running together excited it’s going to be good it’s going to be good pleas phone wallet dog right let’s go look at this after 100 mile or well maybe not that I’ve done about 75 of just hardly any company at all it’s nice to run with Laura and Daisy they’re only going to do 5 minutes yeah she’s only going to do like 3 and 1/2k with me and then she’s going to run back to the car but how you feeling all right I I I don’t know how you’ve done this I don’t know do you know what’s funny though I I you have a lot of time to think and get philosophical when you running so much time on your own and I remember once I did a half marathon in Manchester my my first ever won and at the same time the marathoners were lining up I think it was 2021 and I remember finishing the half saying never ever will I even contemplate trying a marathon it’s too far a half marathon was too hard and now I’m about to finish 100 mile run so it’s funny how things happen good girl to in it right is that you done me nice next time I say Dad I’ve got to do it back now next time we’ll do the full up right see well done days good girl how awesome was that that was lovely that was wicked that was really really nice running with Lauren Daisy then she’s running back to the car meet me at the next checkpoint about 25k and yeah looking at my watch we’ve got 35k left so exciting times exciting times [Music] I think I’m going to just seen up in the woods a group that I saw in Broadway on day one and they’ve been pushing I’ve got in a wheelchair this whole time and obviously they’re taking it in shifts because a bit of an army of them but it just makes me think man if he can do it if they can do it there’s no way that I I’m just oh just oh my feet hurt or all my ribs are a bit bruised so I can’t carry on there’s no way no excuse if that guy can do it so can I inspiring stuff from those guys massively inspired 20K in today to day three just at this lovely little church I think it’s called sodbury or little sodbury sounds like something out of a I don’t know a Harry Potter film but it’s really nice wow look at what this look at this for a view morning good morning to you wow look at this this is crazy just loving this it’s so much fun just literally running through the English Countryside what did you do this weekend Andy was ran just ran woke up and a ran you’re going walk any fishy drinks I was going to get it in between cuz I didn’t have time oh okay what should I have a banana cookie M banana banana banana and cookie okay I’ll save the miles bar to the next one maybe the last but one one mil bar nah I want a beer and bath or a cider 10K yeah R 40 40 so 11:45 1245 so half 1 is an hour and 45 okay all right see you later see in a bit let’s go I cannot believe I’ve run to the M4 mental crazy crazy crazy times and places are all in who you share them with and it’s life and the point is in joy in who you share it with joy is who you share it [Music] with and the weeks in the weekend keeping close who you spending with and in time which you find is the time is you spend it with I’m catch you a bit Jo okay so just arrived in cold Ashton and I’ve just got to try and find Laura uh for for an ultimate stop just shared some miles 10k of a guy called Steve back there he’s doing the charity run absolute hero and uh yes we just looking for Laura now she should be here soon checkpoint we’ve just arrived and look at this what have you got for us I’ve Got You Pepsi or I got you f I wasn’t sure which one you wanted um and then you’ve got you oh I got you some more crust just in case you fancy something Flav just in case and then you got cookies and stuff you might like a little rainbow cookie oh yes you know me too well right I’m going to have sit down have some water and then I think we’ll smash the Pepsi 16k to go see you in 13 14k 13 okay and then I’ve only got a few K to go right see you later bye okay here we go then just put my sunglasses on and Sun’s gone in brilliant just as we’ve took over the marathon that means less than 10K to go cannot believe this 9.6k come on I don’t know what on Earth has happened but I seem to have activated beast mode I’m feeling the best that I’ve felt for the last 3 days the terrain and the elevation over the last 5K have helped cuz it’s been really really pleasant but I’ve got one more stop now to meet Laura place called Western upper Western I think it’s called and then swigger Pepsi Swig of uh fill up the water bottles again and then make the Final Approach sound like a pilot the Final Approach into bath this is still doesn’t feel real but it is it is real I’m doing it [Applause] coming into Weston now with a quad burning downhill 4.5k to go come on okay we’ve arrived in Western now let’s just try and find Laura okay where is she further maybe well okay final a station Done Quick one quick hello from Laura and uh yeah so I’ve now got I I can’t see I’ve now got about 4K to go I’ll see you I I will WhatsApp message you when I’m at Mountain Warehouse when I make my final turn right I love you see you soon I love you 4K to go she hate me she hates me she been on a wild goose chase around this town right bye I could be wrong but I think this might be the last Hill so shared the cotw way with hikers Ramblers don’t really know the difference Runners horses cyclists cars tractors everything it’s been amazing really what an amazing part of the world we’ve managed to see so I don’t think in my opinion this would have been possible to do self-supported on my own I think I think it would just would have been too much I think this the right way don’t get wrong now Andy I think it just would have been too much there’s just too many gaps in between shops or pubs you know sometimes you can go 10 miles without seeing anything and so yeah I think it’s much better to if you can helps get someone to help you as you know Laura is the biggest legend in the world I have struck gold meeting and marrying that woman she is without doubt the best thing that has ever happened to me and I’m sorry to say this on the internet Laura but you are the love of my life and I love you and thank you for everything and I don’t tell you that enough so I love you and thank you for everything you’ve done for me this weekend giving up your weekend to run and drive around after me so get yourself a Laura but someone like Laura you can’t actually have Laura [Music] look at that the Royal CR bath ni most iconic thing got right most iconic thing in bath we made it baby get in 163 km down just got to do one more and then we’ve done it get in it wasn’t long ago when friends of mine would tell me I couldn’t even run a bath cuz I was so unfit now I’ve just run two bath so closing thoughts why why do this not doing this with char or anything you know it’s completely off my own back why I like Adventure I like being you know having stories to tell I absolutely love that sort of thing and setting myself goals and targets year on year is the way that I keep myself motivated last year I did the ultra 50k and I just thought right I wanted something bigger this year what’s bigger than that well what why don’t I try something like a multi-stage ultramarathon so that’s exactly what I’m doing and I also wanted to just say you are stronger than you think you are if you’ve been one of those people like me your whole life has doubted yourself doubted your ability always find it easier found it easier to do you know take the easy way out and do nothing you know kind of get a kick out of being lazy well I’m here to tell you you don’t have to stay feeling like that you just got to get up get out set some ambitious targets and smash them fail on the way that’s totally fine because you’re going to build confidence and one thing that I’ve started doing since I’ve become interested in running is backing myself and you should back yourself cuz it feels good well I’ve actually beaten Laura to bath so what we’re going to do I’m going to wait on the last corner and then she’s going to run the last bit with me I think so that’s what we’re going to do I’m really conscious of how bad I smell right now but oh best of made it or h i i four days I’ve had the most relaxed three days until the last half an hour it’s been so stressful right should we go and get this finished let’s get this finished all right go on do you want to film me on this or do you want to film I’ll film I’ll film you cuz you you need to concentrate on your fin I haven’t brought myself to look around the corner yet okay but you can just stay behind me you going to run I I’ll s jog behind you yeah also 20 quid says someone is standing on the acorn I think there’ll be more than one person stood on it this life can be so difficult tough times just come with age remember when things were so innocent now I just want to [Music] raage I vow never to love again till Elon got us to space your eyes met mine like an needle that went straight into on it go go go 100 miles baby get in get in come on yes I can’t believe it look at that back Abby we made it well done that’s incredible in look at that how do I feel I feel really quite good you made it oh bird congratulations mate well done pal well done really well done right should we going find somewhere to have a drink yes I need I need a we she needs a we come on we got should we go cozy Club yeah just down there actually no I’ve got no idea I don’t know B at all right I’m so glad the acorn was free that was good time 2 minutes later and it would have gone 8 hours 28 minutes for that last leg 8 hours Sub nine so uh fastest one of the day fair enough it was 33% Less Hills and it was slightly shorter but we won’t need to mention that but yeah just so am I allowed to say proud of myself absolutely you should be yeah so that’s such an achievement oh God I went through so many ranges of emotions this is incredible look at that do you know what doing it from chipping camon to Bath rather than the other way around is the way to do it cuz look at that imagine finishing outside that that’s so much better than chipping Camden yeah it’ be a bit underwhelmed it finish yeah and you’ve got all the Hills uh third third day so uh do it this way around right we’re going to go and have a uh well I want a pint A celebratory pint if they’ll let me in looking like this which they might not so um but yeah I think we need to go for a drink and I need to get this young lady a drink for all her hard work and then maybe a bit of food and then it’s time to go home and not Camp how does that sound I’ve really enjoyed it but I’m looking forward to my own bed not sleep in a temp for change yeah oh I’m I’m looking forward to tomorrow not running an ultra marathon Laura just said well you haven’t got a medal or you haven’t got a ative t-shirt or anything so she I should have planned this earlier but I didn’t think about it and it’s kind of ruined the moment but so she she just B she said just look over there a minute and just pretend you can’t see what I’m doing so she’s just run into a souvenir shop and she’s going to give me something so is it a fridge magnet no this is your medal for completing the whole of the cops all the way over 3 days um now this won’t fit over your head like a medal W so can you just stick out your finger a minute finger finger okay you ready get your finger on [Music] camera well done a key ring love it like a little mini medal that is like a medal that’s going on the You are an inspiration, not just for the grit and determination you bring to your running but also the joy you have in being out on the trails taking it all in. You’ve given me a nudge to get on and do something I’ve been pondering for months… which is to run the Roman road from London Bridge to Chichester. I’ve run chunks of it but doing it over 2 days in one go is my aim. I’ll send an email to the podcast once I’ve done it…
