welcome back to part two of my cycle touring trip across the Netherlands our journey resumes on day four within the rural Countryside of freezeland morning guys this is day four we’re just about to set off from the campsite and thankfully it’s not raining today which is brilliant it’s forecast to rain a little bit later but I’m just going to head off and see how many miles I can get them another breezy day today but look at the lovely country Char of cycling [Music] through here’s an example of the bike paths they go nicely around the roundabouts uh segregated off you just have to cross the road but it’s nice and easy a lot of the towns and Villages I passed through had Charming red brick cobbled streets giving them a quaint and traditional f hello horthy it’s going well so far 11:00 done about 20 mi so far pretty quick cuz we’ve got a nice Tailwind behind us my shoes and socks were still wet from yesterday so they they’re slowly drying out with the nice Sun that’s coming out no rain so so far let’s keep it [Music] up it’s just starting to rain a little bit hopefully not too heavy there’s a d boobing along through that you can just about see it in the distance look at this cool cycle path through just the middle of Farms some lovely quiet country roads this afternoon cycling’s going well today uh fairly easy cycling still put my coat on it was drizzling a little bit but now the sun’s coming back out which is [Music] great I’m just about to enter one of the national parks drun FAL apologies if the pronunciation wasn’t [Music] right got company Highland cows I love them they’re so friendly and docile [Music] and more lovely Trails through the national park cycling through a forest on a psychopath now that is a cool Church sp there just at Camp here reading my book and it is glorious weather look at that this is nice and then it’s been all day today it’s like the invasion of slugs here there’s so many in the Netherlands [Music] morning guys this is day five I’ve just set off I’m going to be aiming to do about 63 mil which is 100k today so let’s see how I get on I’ve got an annoying squeak in my chain we’re currently cycling through the the wield national park it was in this National Park that I camped last night just riding into a nice forest and I’ll flip the screen and show you the other way what a great way to start the morning cycling through this landscape how my feeling my legs feel actually okay to be honest it’s more my bum that’s s uh but my Cals and quads and hings and everything feel feel fine at the moment this cycle path here is so quiet I think it’s because it’s uh early on a Wednesday morning at the weekend this would be packed update we’re 20 minutes into the cycle and it is raining so put my jacket on let’s hope this stops soon there’s goats on the trampoline at that we’re going to be cycling into a strong headwinds for most of the day now so probably going to get tough I had a good day yesterday with Tailwind so I guess guess it comes around we’ve got some pastries here and a iced coffee the sky looks very ominous there this is a little bit Grim with the head wind and the rain we’ll keep going [Music] two swans there with all the little signets [Music] as I arrived into campen I passed the Boven Kirk a really spectacular gothic church day five was was a successful day clocking in 62 miles exactly 100 km it was a tough day with a moderate headwind for a large portion of the day as a result I decided to treat myself to a proper bed for the night it definitely felt good morning this is day six I’ve just cycled out of the town of camping where I stayed last night in the lovely accommodation and now we’re getting ready to do 50 Mi about 80k on the bike there’s a star over in that field [Music] there 15 miles in just now it’s all going well my legs are pretty tired from yesterday so I’m doing a much slower Pace uh than the previous days but flooding along we’re just about to enter a big green bit on the map so I’m guessing it’s sort of a national park or something I’ll have to have a look when our next stop so it should be some nice scenery we’ve got a bit of a hill here tiny in comparison to Hills in the UK but 3% gradient and with my tired legs it feels feels quite tough [Music] Beware of the wild rooster I have a slight issue the handlebars are very loose now I think I can fix it with an Alan key that is what we need a bench time for some food it’s been quite nice on this trip not having to worry about resupplying in uh food and carrying enough food for several days cuz here I’m passing towns every you know every half day so I can just pick up what I want for dinner on the day and also with having all the kit in a heavy bike anyway I’m not really worried about you know packing a jar of pesto or a tin of tuna you know the weight’s kind of NE negligible uh when you’re carrying a ton of stuff anyway I’m down to my last few bits of food got some Tomatoes there Rita cashew nuts naked bar and uh energy gel I think I need to resupply for lunch later r a little dirt tracks through the forest which is cool thankfully I’ve got hybrid tires so I’m fine on this Terrain [Music] now that’s slightly creepy in the forest it’s a pretty popular Trail here even though it’s Thursday which is good to see update here I’ve only got about an hour and a half left of the cycle today it’s going going good really pretty uh Forest I’ve been cycling through just out in the open Countryside now my buom is really sore though uh legs feel okay just bom is sore too many hours on the [Music] saddle these last few miles are painful on the buom battling a little bit of a wind here as well [Music] dop fancy sitting on that seat there we’ve got the cover section here very [Music] morning guys it’s day seven it’s half 6 I’ve just set off got to cycle quite quick to get there in uh make sure I’m in time for my flight so won’t be much footage but I’ll do it as a go see you [Music] later just got the ferry over across a little uh Canal bit there it’s literally like 20 M across they could have built a brid jam Shore but there’s a local guy who runs it uh every day apart from Sunday so I guess it’s it’s good for business a cting through the countryside at the moment 20 M till Amsterdam this is a really cool Fort City well Town The Whole Town’s surrounded by a moat and like a fortified wall it’s called narden I’ll show it you on satellite cuz it looks really really cool it’s like a sh star shaped [Music] sign just in the industrial outskirt at the moment not far from the center and that marks the end of my trip across the Netherlands I thoroughly enjoyed it and no doubt I will be back [Music]

Hah…. joy… you pronounced Friesland correctly. My heads up last video was clearly not needed. There will always be a slight accent but I give you a 9.9/10 for that one.
There are a few Youtubers I know that are very interested in reacting to things in/about the Netherlands, would you mind if I suggest your biketour to them?
2:32 acceptable mate, very acceptable.
8:36 Technically "Cattle grid" would be Vee Rooster. This would better be translated as "Game/wildlife grid".
As an avid cycler, I often bring something as lunch but I never thought about those energy thingies.. do they really work better than say my dextrose or grape sugar? (I am an old man, grape sugar was what we had when I started touring, there wasn't protein shakes or energy gels, you stick with what you know usually right?)
Language tip: If you see words ending on te (Like Drente) it usually is pronounced like "duh" but with a hard T instead of that d so basically Drentuh
12:46 wait… how the bleep are you already in Naarden. I went to school there for about 4 years. You are a fast cycler mate.
Great video, do come back. There is so much beautiful places. Thewoods and national parks in Utrecht, Brabant and Gelderland, the hills (and even a "mountain" in Limburg, The Delta works in Zeeland etc.
That was lovely. Thanks for sharing.
So many slugs is indeed bizar this year. This is mainly due to the very wet spring. It's a shame you have so much rain. A year ago things were completely different. Then we even had a heat wave. Unfortunately you were not lucky in terms of weather.
You are already shopping as a Dutchie. Just hop on your bike to the nearest supermarket and get your groceries for the day.
I've just come back from the Netherland's today to the UK. I certainly did not want to leave! I am so jealous of the amazing cycling infrastructure the Netherlands have there. Although I did'nt do any cycling as I was on a work trip but I did running during the evenings and saw it for myself. But no doubt I will return for a leisure activity such as this. Your videos provide brilliant ideas of how to lay out a cycling itinerary.
Some nice footage of our beautiful country 👍
please, pleasy please, stop contrasting your video so much.
the unnatural colours make it so fakethat it hurts my eyes.
think of colours as a conversation.
softer colours are like people having a conversation
hard colours are like people screeming to each other
screeming draws a lot of atention but it gets irritating realy fast.
Dwingeloo, so beautifully. my mother is from there. She is called Lammy (Lammigje) which means little lamb. Very common name in Drenthe. When her parents moved to Arnhem (Gelderland, middle/eastern of the country) she was like 14 and the teacher introduced her as “Lammetje” in the class. Which is the litteral Dutch way to say small lamb. Everybody was crying off laughter and she was just embarrassed. It all came good for her, do not worry 😅
