I review the 2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo to see what it’s like overall, and to see how these have aged over the past few years. Now currently sitting at about a 50% discount versus new, the 2021 Taycan Turbo is more tempting than ever. Insane performance, some of the fastest charging even these days, lots of luxury and lots of prestige, what’s not to like? It’s not perfect, but it’s close…What do you think about the Porsche Taycan Turbo? Huge thanks to DoubleStrike.Photo for kindly letting me review his Taycan Turbo!

W man what’s up everybody this is the 2021 Porsche tyon Turbo huge thanks to double strike photo for providing me here with his very cool very unique tyon turbo to review for you guys today so about the tyon turbo well 2021 was the second M of year got some of the first year bugs out of the way and so 2021 is here nice and solid and pretty much the same all the way up through 2024 and so as far as the styling on the tyon obviously it was very radical when it first came out and still stands out even a few years later here it’s just so wild looking so otherworldly and uh this one in the gensin blue uh metallic just looks really nice and just is so cool with the little LED lights you have there in the front I just always thought it was a cool look where they protrude up there with the fenders and uh this one also has the Sport Design kit on it so you have these sportier front bumper you also get the side skirts and the rear little uh additions as well but Al wise this one also has the 21in optional Turbo S Mission e kind of wheels on it and they are really sweet looking this one also has the extra cost option of having them painted to match the body color which is a really cool touch this one also has those specially coated rotors so that you have uh the mirror finish there and also uh provides 95% less brake dust than a regular breake and that’s why you have the white calipers there to show off the fact that they stay really clean which is an amazing thing I can’t believe no one else has copied that yet because seems like an excellent idea but otherwise coming down to the sides here you have a powered charge port here on both fenders which is all very unique thing to have it on both fenders basically everything else only has one charge port here you have it on both it’s very handy and convenient at charging stations otherwise you have little fender cutouts here that in some models is functional but in this one here is blocked off and just little side mirrors here and I love the side silhouette here and the black roof and the black accents you have on this one really help it to look mean and Sinister as well and going out to the back there again so streamlined I love the continuous light bar there and uh again the hunker down look here of these is just so so cool and so from every single angle I think the tyon turbo just has aged really well looks fantastic and it’s just uh something that’s definitely going to stand out on the road right so for the interior of the tyon turbo it’s a very cool place to be very futuristic very high-tech if you like buttons this is not the interior for you there is basically no buttons outside of the ones on the steering wheel and the doors but anyway the first thing Sing Down these seats so this one has uh the fully optioned seats here which have a million adjustments I mean you can adjust you know everything from thigh support to torso and uh everything in between they’re heated and cooled seats and this one even has this custom blue leather uh which was a high cost option but uh very much sets this one apart and might be a one of one in the country in this color interior they’re also just really comfortable I love that they’re perforated of course makes them breathe better and uh yeah they have a lot of adjustments so like even though you sit really low in this vehicle I’m able to get my seat up nice nice and high while still having plenty of Headroom and still feeling nice and spacious this is actually my first time spending any time in a tyon interior and it’s actually just overall more spacious than I was expecting I kept coming away here as I was filming everything in here like wow like this actually is more usable than I thought it’s not quite as cramped as I initially thought it was and so if you’re on the fence about these as far as interior space goes just go sit in one if you haven’t already and you know really feel it out for yourself I think that you’ll be actually kind of surprised just how spacious roomy this is in here but anyway moving on to the steering wheel here it’s a really great wheel Porsche does amazing steering wheels of course I love the little rivets in it the drive mode selector here on it and a fantastic 9 and3 grip Big 10 and2 notches and just looks fantastic just a few buttons here on it I love the Porsche still does the cruise control controls on a separate stock instead of cluttering up the steering wheel with a million things and you know I love that you unlike other companies they’ve still retained turn signal and windshield wiper stocks as well so again nice and simple steering wheel that’s really great moving on to the gauge cluster here it’s a 16.8 in digital gauge cluster and I believe that’s one of the biggest in the industry it is really cool too cuz it’s curved and you have some controls here on the left and the right for it as well which is a nice little touch and puts things like your damper settings right there within a one touch reach which is great and uh I just love the curved nature it’s more curved than even most of the average curv displays you see these days it just looks really futuristic and high-tech now the gauges themselves you have a little bit of adjustability to them but it’s you know pretty simple and straightforward there isn’t a bunch of wild customization as far as the look of them but they look great just the way they are coming over to the center of the dashboard here right up top you have the sport Chrono package in this one so you have that very cool ticking stopwatch there uh and then coming down though again just more screens so we have a 10.9 in central display here it’s touchcreen it has Wireless Apple carplay wireless Android auto and it’s pretty good now I will say that going through some of the menus there there was a split second waight it’s not the snappiest system out there it’s not the end of the world either nothing to really make a big deal about but you know just didn’t strike me as making a super fast screen you know but it works fine and I actually like this new setup here so they have been tweaking it and they’ve made some revisions over the past you know few years but I think that you know the way this works is pretty simple and straightforward and you know it’s not overly complicated I like that it’s all touched and uh you know just to me it was actually pretty simple to use and so you know all the basic stuff with navigation and you know changing your drive modes and settings and things like that and all just works really well and of course most of the time most people will just be using that car player that Android auto capability and the Porsche system just kind of does its thing in the background there and then moving down you have an 8.4 in touchcreen here for your climate controls and this one has a haptic feedback so you actually have to press down on this one similar like some of the stuff you see in Audi’s with all their screens having the same kind of feature and that is a little disorienting because you know you have to actually push harder on this screen but not on the main screens here so it’s just a little bit of muscle memory I guess you have to to train yourself to be like when I’m using this one I got to press harder but just in my first few minutes here I’ve been like oh wait why isn’t this middle one working oh yeah I got to push super hard but it’s only on this one screen kind of an odd little switch up there but otherwise you know it works great I get the I can appreciate you know why they did that because they want to give you some haptic feedback there so you don’t have to stare at the screen while you’re driving but you know this one also has very little adjustability just a few shortcuts if you don’t want to reach up a few inches to the main screen and then just your other you know quick shortcuts there for climate stuff but you know nice to have nonetheless the one thing that I will say is that there is no way to manually control the air vents that is one thing that’s been criticized that’s something they tried to you know copy from Tesla and others but you know so it’s something you’re going to have to hope that it is intelligent enough to figure out where it should be shooting the air and if you want to tweak that you’re going to have to sit there and play with it on the screen which is an ideal but you know I’m hoping it’s not a deal breaker you for for most people but anyway um coming over you also have this passenger display which is optional it’s another 10.9 in display just like the middle one here and it largely mirrors the same functions as this middle one obviously not as advanced with the amount of stuff you can do with it but all the same great you know stuff for navigation inputting you know changing up the radio stations things like that and of course the very cool car info display there which is definitely I’m sure fun as a passenger on a spirited drive to be able to see in real time your G and all that and so really cool that you have that that’s just an option once again otherwise you’d have a piece of piano black plastic there as far as storage spaces in the tyon here um it’s actually again not bad for a vehicle that’s as small as this is you have nice Deep Pockets here on the door that come out a good bit so you can fit a pretty big bottle in there honestly in the middle here you do have a nice little cubby underneath of this main screen and you do have two cup holders here as well and also this little Center armrest which again has a decent amount of depth to it to be honest and you’ll see two USBC Jacks as well as a wireless charger in there and a 12volt power outlet as well and uh you know overall I think for a vehicle like this you know that’s pretty decent and slightly better than you get in some other vehicles this competes with even non-electric ones and then moving on to the back seat here in the T also pleasantly surprised with the amount of space now Porsche was very smart about trying to give extra little cutouts for your feet so you’ll see that um right beneath the driver and passenger seats there but I’m 5’9 me sitting behind myself I easily have I’d say about 3 Ines of legro to spare again that is more than I was expecting and honestly pretty good you know obviously it’s only a four-seater here uh and you have that little console in the middle you could also get a passenger display for the rear seat occupants as well this one does not have that option but you know still has all the other luxury features there their own air vents there’s a full down Center armrest with cup holders in it they have their own uh pockets in the doors and this beautiful single piece of glass for the roof too is a really cool look good amount of Headroom overall a room in your back seat than you might expect so again if you’re skeptical give these a try it might actually surprise you moving on to the trunk space here in the tyon also not bad not as good as any average sedan you know uh that this would compete with it’s not electric or as Extreme as this honestly you know but it’s a decent amount of space you can fit a couple of suitcases in there still and they do help you out by giving you a frunk so you do have a fairly deep frunk and you can fit you know another decently sized duffel bag or something in there and great that you have that extra capability there is also a little bit of extra space under the floor there primarily probably for like a charging cord something like that but another a little bonus space nonetheless now the good option here is that tyon offer the cross Turismo version which is the more SV you know lifted uh wagon kind of version of the tyon and that’s going to be the way to go if you want more space now it’s not a massive hatch it’s not a massive Improvement in you know cargo space but that will certainly give you more cargo space and so if you’re someone who does need more practicality than what this provides definitely uh you know give that one a look but you know I think that also check out the trunk in this before you ride it off it’s actually not as bad as I was expecting to be totally honest and overall I think this vehicle is actually a little more practical than I initially thought but let’s turn on and go for a drive the tyon here has the usual Porsche key this one has a nice leather glove that’s covering it but you know just a nice you know pretty small key not too bad or anything but these are keyless access keyless entry push button start as standard of course um and the interesting thing is whenever you just sit down on this vehicle it basically turns itself on if it detects the key and so it’s basically all ready to go here the power button is primarily I guess just to turn it off or if you’re trying to do something out of the norm but it usually can predict when you’re just ready to set off again much like the competing vehicles that was trying to go after with a Tesla and all that but um you know everything just turns right on and it’s ready to go all right so setting off here in the tyon turbo so the first thing you notice I think the first thing that I’m appreciating is that you don’t feel like you’re sitting quite as low as I was expecting so you actually have a really good view over the dashboard and the hood really sinks down so you only see the fenders honestly and uh it’s a really good view forward the only thing I’ll say is view out of the back is very narrow it’s not the best visibility there in the back you do have a bunch of cameras 360 cameras and stuff to help you out there uh as far as you know maneuvering and all that but uh side mirrors are pretty good and I like that the a pillar is actually pretty nice and thin so I mean all that actually makes it pretty easy to drive and park and um you know it’s uh also pretty easy with the braking so even though you have regen braking on uh the one thing I’ve been impressed by though is that it’s actually pretty smooth and very natural feeling for the brake pedal field and that’s something that you can’t say for a lot of EVS I mean even like the Machi that we own it’s very grabby and tricky so the fact that Porsche it’s such a good job fine-tuning the brake field just in the first few feet that I’ve been driving this vehicle is uh very impressive to me totally honest and of course throttle response and all that is H nice and responsive as well all right but the moment you’ve all probably been waiting for I’m not going to do a launch control just yet uh cuz we have some traffic here but let’s just do a rolling acceleration here from 30 mph and see how it does here we go man that’s impressive that is um yeah it’s got some legs to it too for an EV it is impressive with the punch and we’re going up up hill by the way too there so I love this sound too it sounds so cool that is something you can turn off if you want but I love it but anyway so the tyon turbo here for the regular one does 670 horsepower in the over boost mode otherwise it’s normally 616 horsepower 626 lb feet of torque regardless and um I mean it feels like you’re driving into the future whenever you just uh hit the gas in this thing it’s just like you almost like blurs your peripherals and it just I mean we haven’t even done the launch mode yet so I’m very excited to try that but I mean it’s tons of punch so the official quote of time I believe is a 3 second 0 to 60 for this uh of course this is not the top performing version there is still the Turbo S which mechanically is very similar it just has a higher voltage for the front motor there and that’ll do up to 750 horsepower and that one I think mot Motor Trend is one of the fastest vehicles they ever test I think it’s like a 2.4 second 0 to 60 um so that is really the full-blown crazy thing but I mean this will still annihilate most supercars and even many hyper cars honestly uh so you’re not going to be hurting for power in this what way even though in these crazy times we’re living in you know 670 horsepower doesn’t sound insane but um it is insane whenever it’s electric horsepower and it’s instant and the really cool thing about the taon here is it has a two-speed transmission which is something that basically no one else offers as of right now and um it’s a really cool touch so I honestly haven’t perceived that even doing that shift I know some people have noticed it’s it’s noticeable but me at least so far in my first few minutes of driving here I haven’t noticed it and we’ll do some more acceleration testing here in a little bit but other things to note here while you’re just cruising at normal speeds on normal roads this Road’s pretty nicely paved but I mean the ride is actually pretty good here uh now you do have the air suspension as standard on the turbos and you also have this one has the option for the Porsche Dynamic chassis control system so uh you know you’re able to have the dampers be you know stiff or soft depending on what you want and there’s the individual modes you can Custom Tailor stuff if you want some stuff one way and some stuff the other you can have that of course which is great to give you that adjustability and so like right now we’re in the Sport Plus individual which essentially is just Sport Plus but it’s got the soft suspension setup and um I mean for 21 in yeah I can feel the transmission doing a little sh shift over there but anyway you know with the 21s I’m just noticing that it’s actually you know still smoother than You’ probably expect for something on these kinds of wheels and I mean honestly like even Audi and you Porsche they always do such a good job of even with gigantic Wheels having really impressive ride quality better than you’d expect I’ve been impressed with that and stuff like the RS6 Avant and other vehicles and so um you know I think the Volkswagen group engineers in general have a pretty good hand on how to still have a smooth ride while you have big wheels and um Al also I have to say it’s pretty quiet in here it’s very luxurious as far as the refinement you don’t really hear like there was a giant SUV that just passed and if I was blindfolded I wouldn’t even know it passed this um it is really really quiet in here you have double paint windows I mean it’s just all very very Advanced and uh just honestly gives you a luxurious feeling and really does a good job of isolating you from the outside world and now we’re on this little bit of a rougher road that usually generates some more road noise and it’s still pretty quiet I mean yeah there’s a a very very dull Roar but that’s about it and um I’m going to actually also go up into the Sport Plus mode and uh stiffen up the chassis just a little bit cuz we’re coming up to the corners I always take and I want to see just in its Max stiffness mode how how this actually feels and with that it will also lower down the air suspension there and hunker down a little bit to give you a lower center of gravity but coming up the corners here let’s see how it handles it is really so flat I can tell already and it’s and this one also has rear axle steer which was an option you could get uh it was standard on the Turbo S but here on the turbo was an option and it really does a good job of uh just making this thing feel even smaller than it already is not like it’s a big car but I mean it’s just no drama but a little bit of okay like and I saw for a split second there stability control was was lighting up so I mean it it will play around with you a little bit now this one also is running Continental allseason extreme contact tires here so not a super sticky summer Tire like you might have gotten from the factory on these uh but the tire sizes here 265 wide in the front and 305s in the rear so I mean that’s a lot of meat in the back obviously a lot of power as well but you know the fact that it’s able to be still a little bit playful um even with Massive Tires like that is also just you know a nice nice little touch for sure and uh but I mean it is just like telepathic I mean you just it does whatever you want it to do there’s no fighting with it there’s no wanting for more it it’s always going to give you way more performance than you’re ever going to need and any kind of sane speeds uh and even at insane speeds it’ll probably hold up just fine too but um you know it’s just it just feels really good I also love the steering weight and the directness of the steering so the steering just feels pretty natural to me it’s pretty quick and I it’s Porsche we’re talking about here so you I guess it shouldn’t be a standout thing but you know it’s just same great kind of steering You’re Expecting out of a Porsche it just feels really good all right so let’s quickly try a little launch here we’re in Sport Plus left foot brake gas launch control activated here we go woo man oh yeah that is fun it’s uh it’s it’s it’s so much fun that will never get old like unless you’re someone who doesn’t when you’re on a roller coaster like this will always be fun and yes it’s not making a bunch of Racket it’s not smoking tires or anything but it is so much fun and um yeah it is is an absolute blast I absolutely love launching this thing and uh by the way the 3 second time is the official rated time but the owner kindly filled me in and let me know that it’s a 2.6 second time in reality and I mean it feels every bit that fast and uh does feel probably a tiny bit FAS faster than the rson GT that I reviewed a couple years ago now I’m probably splitting hars here a little bit cuz I mean they’re all insanely fast and who can truly tell the difference between a 2.6 and a 2.8 seconds or a 60 or whatever but it is it’s all insanely fast and it all just it does it though so effortlessly so smoothly one of the great things about Porsche is they were really focused on the repeatability and the track endurance for these as well so you’re able to do those launches repeatedly unlike other vehicles that have these big long warmup and cool down periods like I was able to just left FP breake as long as you’re in Sport Plus mode it just launches and it’s um you know pretty brainless honestly um but it all felt very controlled very uh you know safe and it just it does a really good job Porsche has done a great job of just um optimizing that the whole launch feel so that it feels great uh but it doesn’t feel like you’re doing anything that’s going to break the car or anything like that but uh other things here to note so as far as curb we that is also something these days especially with the way the curb wees have been ballooning uh you know for a lot of these EVS I mean this thing weighs just around 5,000 lb obviously it’ll come down to the exact spec that you’re working with and all that but um you know some of these are like 5100 or something like that but you know pretty light All Things Considered for an EV sedan with a battery pack as large as this one is I’ll get into the battery stuff here in a minute but first let’s go around a few more corners and just play with it a little bit more couple more corners here yeah it is it’s also pretty nice and neutralized so some of the reviewers were saying that uh you know it sometimes could feel a little over under steery in certain cases and then over steer sometimes as well and there is a little little twitch from the back end I like that it’s it’s playful I love that it is playful and it isn’t 100% totally glued I think that is actually a really redeeming quality for these and gives it some character and some personality and makes you feel like you have to have some skill to drive this it’s not just like some simulator that is just figuring everything out for you and another thing that actually feels better than I was expecting is the dam whenever they’re in their stiffest setting here for Sport Plus um you know I mean it certainly is um you know a little bit more sensation you get through the ride here through your seat but it’s honestly not uh not something that’s a huge difference it’s not like some other vehicles where it’s like rock hard the second you go into you know the race mode and things like that I mean this is actually totally fine and um if I was forced to be in Sport Plus mode all the time I still think it’d be a fine daily driver and I wouldn’t be complaining so as far as the all important battery information here for an EV of course it has a 93.7 kwh battery pack and uh you could get a smaller battery pack in the lower trims but that’s what you get here in the turbos and uh so as far as recharge times here you can do a 10% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes thanks to 270 Peak kilowatt charging which even with the newest 2025 ones they’ve gone beyond that to 320 but 270 is still you know better than almost everything out there and it means that you’re not going to be sitting around a Chargers very long assuming you can get that you know Peak rate and you’re at one of those high power chargers but you know it’s just great that it charges so quickly it also has a 19.2 KW onboard uh charger as well so whenever you’re doing charging at home and stuff it’s still going to be very quick assuming again you have the right hookups and all that but I mean you know it’s great that uh it’s one of the fastest charging EVs and so if you’re looking for a road Trier it might not be the most amazing it’s not going to you know have the record range number or anything for an EV speaking of range though uh these are rated I saw between 212 to 220 Mi of range range um is what they’re officially rated at but the owner of this vehicle said that you can get well beyond that into the pi 200s you know if you go into the range mode which will also calm things down or even if you’re just you know not going super quickly but basically Porsche has heavily underrated the range figure so if you’re shopping for one of these and you say oh no it’s only got 200 some miles of range I can’t handle that it might be a lot better than you’re expecting um so definitely you know do some digging but as long as you know you’re not driving the vehicle like an insane person and hammering on it non-stop you should get more range Than That official rating and even if that’s all the range you get anyway I mean again it’s so fast with charging this is something that I’ve argued with you know stuff like the Hyundai as well which have a you know pretty quick charge rate as well where it’s like you know it’s it’s not as big of an issue yes you still have to stop but you’re stopping so quickly that for the average person unless you’re Cannonball running uh and you’re sprinting to the bathroom and back like it’s always going to be basically ready to go by the time you are and so you know that’s one of the huge perks here of the T ions and uh it’s all thanks that 800 volt architecture that these have that they’re running and that’s something that again is not very common you know even a few years later here the tyon was really so far ahead of the curve whenever these first came out and it still has aged really well cuz here we are several years later and you know most other companies still can’t match this charge speed and now out here on the highway in the tyon turbo again obviously nice and smooth nice and quiet now we’re back into the individual mode here so we have a nice soft damper settings and it really is great now now the one thing is even you know back in 2021 Porsche was nickel and diing you for some of the options like they are known to do and so for example you still have to pay extra for like blind spall monitoring that was something that wasn’t standard uh a lot of new stuff now has been made standard for 2025 but you know if you’re shopping these on the used Market just make sure you really got to go over the options list with a fine tooth comb and make sure you’re getting everything you want cuz for example this vehicle the stickers for almost $195,000 doesn’t have a $300 heated of steering wheel option you know so it’s just going to come down to the original owner and you know what they expect and you know who knows why people do what they do but um you know so that’s one of the things you have to keep in mind but one great thing is you you do have adap of cruise control here and um it has you know all the usual stuff you’re expecting but it also has uh Porsches in a drive uh feature which can do some preemptive braking for you and and does a few other things I won’t get into all the technical details you can deep dive that in other videos if you want but you know just high level stuff it’s going to have all the usual stuff you’re expecting with the adaptive cruise and all that now it’s not a hands-off system or anything or anything you know porschea still is focused on you being the driver and driving yourself but it’s going to have the Lan keep assist that was something that was standard and you know some of the other stuff there the automatic emergeny braking all the usual stuff those things thankfully were standard But Blind SW watering and a few other little things just aren’t the things that weren’t so just you have to keep that in mind whenever you’re shopping for these but otherwise yeah it just seems like it’s a really great Highway Cruiser and it’s also impressive too whenever you’re dealing with a vehicle it doesn’t have an engine to mask you know any other squeaks or rattles I mean this vehicle has almost 40 ,000 miles on it it still feels nice and tight and uh you know there’s there’s no bad sounds to be heard here and uh then once you turn on this Bose stereo you know I’m sure even the road noise will just fade away and you’ll just be bathed in your favorite soundtracks and one other little thing I want to add here to this video in particular is ownership experience so nil’s uh riding passenger here with me and is very kind to uh be up for being on camera here and talking a little bit about his ownership experience and so um just a couple little questions here I mean the first one is you know why did you pick the tyon turbo so good question so I’m I’m the easy answer is midlife crisis the the the longer answer is I was cross shopping this between some of the the most unusual ones because I wanted to go electric my previous car was an Audi S6 so it had the twin turbo V8 it was a great performance sedan I wanted something similar and I was ending up cross shopping between the ionic 6 which hadn’t come out yet so I was looking at the ionic 5 at the time or the Kia ev6 GT the problem with the ev6 GT the mileage was just terrible in terms of the range and the as performance and the 5 had anounced yet so I was looking for something that was electric had the performance um and then I said well you know why don’t I look at a at a like a certified pre-owned type of a tyon see if I can go down that path let someone else take that up front hit um and so I originally started looking for tyon 4S and then the the the devil on the shoulder was like well this is Turbo and you’re going CPO why don’t you go with that so I started looking for these and then when I end up finding this one with all the you know the customizations and the things that I really liked that was the path but frankly practicality and the cost of not having to pay for gas for for a V8 yeah I mean this isn’t the most practical car by any stretch but compared to a bunch of maintenance on a V8 engine and expensive gas prices I’m actually doing a lot better on monthly costs now than I was before yeah and that’s great so is that one of the main things you love about it or you performance is one of the things perform I mean yeah performance I mean absolutely was especially going with the turbo I mean it like you said it puts a smile on my face every morning and uh you know the the the ability to just take the take the kid in the Civic R who’s trying to race at every traffic like and teach a lesson or two is nice um but it you know when I’m driving you know to and from Cleveland to Pittsburgh once a week and from you know akan to Cleveland multiple times a week it’s it’s a nice cruising ride it’s it’s comfortable it’s fast it’s it’s quiet so it really is kind of the best of all worlds yeah that’s great so what don’t you like about it software so that’s the big thing so everything works everything is fine there’s a lot of software gaps that you see with like the phone app like one of the nice things with EV is you can preheat your car from your phone yeah well to do it you can hit the preheat button on your phone app and there’s a 30second cycle you have to wait for it to refresh whether or not it actually hit the car pinged it activate it started preheating yeah once in a while it won’t you got to do it again so it’s like just goofy software stuff like the built-in navigation works perfectly yeah doesn’t have all the features I’d like it to have so that’s kind of the biggest downfall is I think the software side of things yeah I think that’s something that other companies like Tesla and stuff they’ve been known to do better and it’s yeah hopefully Porsche will get better with that you know quickly but I mean that’s the thing it’s I mean every company’s struggles if you’re not a software company it seems like they just they can’t they can’t get that part down you know it’s it’s unfortunate and that actually I was looking at you say Tesla that’s one of the ones I was you know when people say well you were you looking at a Tesla and frankly yes I was I was looking at like a model S for example the problem I had with the Teslas again was the model S at least has the the driver’s information display it didn’t have an option for heads up display everything’s on the center screen there’s no physical controls admittedly this car is not better in that regard but at least there’s dedicated control zones for certain things and like the glove box is a physical latch and I can use Android auto I don’t get stuck with the built-in stuff so there was a lot of stuff from a Tesla perspective and again right the the The Perennial full self-driving that never arrives right you pay thousands and thousands it never shows up um even now the beta is still not full self-driving and probably won’t be ever right um so and and then frankly as as as shallow as it is is to say they’re a lot more common and I was like if I’m spending a lot of money anyway I’d like something that’s a little bit more unique and stands out absolutely yeah it makes a lot of sense I mean build quality I’m sure is much better on this as well yeah well and yeah that’s that’s definitely a big one the interior quality and the build quality and I know people always make the panel gaps jokes but but no but the build quality like the the interior design was a big part of it for me yeah no it is so cool I mean you’re right like why would you want to blend in with a c of everything else whenever you can have this for the same money and um yeah it’s it’s a great choice and uh I mean I don’t know it’s insane you found this spec with the blue seats and everything six months 6 months of meticulous searching um and and uh a good friend of mine who’s a neighbor that runs a uh exotic used car dealership business who I consulted with heavily yeah well that that definitely helps cuz I mean yeah this thing is one of a kind and uh yeah you have a very cool card you think you’re going to keep it for a long time or you do at at least three or four years minimum bare minimum hopefully longer than that I I’m a little nervous about owning it outside of warranty because it’s a German car and owning a German car outside of warranty is usually asking for trouble right um so probably 3 4 years at least okay do you think you’re uh eyeing the new one I know it’s a little ways away but you know what by the time I’m ready to get out of this one the used prices on those will probably be affordable so maybe that’s the next one I this has kind of spoiled me for I don’t know what I’m going to do next to be honest like maybe the ionic 5n would be another Choice yeah yeah I’m excited to drive that hopefully this year but uh yeah I mean so really the last couple things I mentioned here are you know pricing and how this compares to the competition and I mean I echoed a lot of the same things you know you said as far as just it’s it’s going to be more unique it’s got the carplay integration and Android auto integration which is something for example the Tesla doesn’t have build quality you know those things that we already covered is why you know I think this is uh you know going to be a more desirable Choice than a Model S plaid obviously you know that has its own hype and it’s you know it’s I’m sure an impressive vehicle I have not driven any faster than the p100d um but uh you know I mean it’s it’s another vehicle that’s you know worth considering if you know you don’t care about smartone integration and you know the other things about Tesla and the quirkiness of them you know it doesn’t bother you and there’s that there’s also the Audi RS erron GT I reviewed one of those a couple years ago and the real thing about that that is compelling is the physical buttons you have real physical buttons and uh you know that is something that uh you know is I think making a Resurgence here I think people are realizing like hey like you know having everything be controlled by the screen can sometimes be a little bit annoying for some people and so you know it’s really cool if you just to have that option the fact that Audi has made the RS Tron GT for people who want a more traditional interior just has one screen it’s certainly less impressive from a technology standpoint but if you’re someone who just wants the same kind of performance the same great charge rates and all those things but you just want a more traditional interior experience and honestly I think more traditional looks for the Audi slightly as well although it’s certainly more extreme than the average Audi but but you know I think that’s another one that’s just a strong uh one to consider and I really enjoyed my time I had that one for an entire week uh back in 2022 and really loved my time in it so definitely another one to check out uh because those have also depreciated very similar to this and as the last thing I will mention is the pricing so again this one uh stickered for almost $195,000 when it was new but now on the use Market turbos even 2021s and you’re looking at just those if you want to exclude the 2020s which have been known to be a little buggier even 2021 are below $100,000 now so I mean you’re talking essentially half price after just a few years and I mean we’re not talking about vehicles with 100,000 Mi either we’re talking about you know reasonable miles you know certified pre-owned vehicles things like that that are you know had for half price and um I mean it’s it’s really compelling I mean these were also very impressive obviously still insanely fast even at0 Grand but now at $100,000 you know I mean it’s especially compared to other EVS I this is going to just you know annihilate a lot of these other EVS they can get close to 100 Grand without even you know being anything performance oriented and so the fact you have so much performance and so much luxury so much Tech so much of everything for you know a very minor charge I think it’s just you know pretty pretty impressive uh value proposition again we’re talking about $100,000 Vehicles so I mean I’m not going to pretend like this is you know a car for the every man and you know something that everyone can you know grab but it’s just you know impressive and know 50% off anything is always something that’s worth taking notice of and so if you’re someone who you know wants one of these or even you just want one of the you know lower versions of the tyon those Forest versions are still super fast and still gives you all the same great interior stuff for the most part and all that and I mean those I’ve been seeing you know the lower tyon especially for the Bas 4 version going for you know 60s uh you know low 7s even for you know pretty nice ones I mean they’ve come down a lot so if you love just the look of the tyon you don’t need to have you know face melt performance I think that you know the uh the regular tons are also a great grab these days also again similarly you know discounted about 50% off of what they originally stickered for and so uh you know very impressive vehicles and it’s great to know that you know the range is underrated and so you can get more than you know it looks like on paper with these and uh I think there’s just a lot going for the taon here obviously they’ve had plenty of hype over the past few years I’m far from the the first person to you know make all these uh you know realizations but it’s just worth you know driving home the point here on the used Market these are really good buy um and I think that uh it’s going to be you know just as impressive again the look has hardly changed even for the refresh for 2025 so it’s not like you know you’re really going to be buying a vehicle that even looks dated um you know it’s going to still look fresh still look very exciting for many years to come and uh you get all that for you know much less than new so anyway but uh that’s all of my thoughts here on the tyon turbo let me know your thoughts on in the comments below huge thanks to double strike photo here for providing me here with his vehicle to review for you guys today yeah thank you all very much for watching please leave a 1. Loved hanging out with you, and glad you got to review the car! I'll try to pop in and answer questions from people in the comments as best I can.

    2. Strikes me as a bit odd that you had so much preconceived negativity going into the review. At almost every aspect of the car you came across as having expectations of EVs that are a fraction of the cost from companies that don't prioritize the things that make Porsche the brand that it is. Like build quality, convenience, and driving dynamics/f

    3. I love the design of these cars and especially the color inside and out of this particular one. But I feel like we're going backwards in convenience and safety with no buttons whatsoever and air vents controlled in a menu in that screen. Please just leave me some regular ole hand adjustable vents and climate control. But still, beautiful car and well out of my price range so I can't complain. 😂

    4. Incredible spec and review. I love that you continue to evolve these reviews over time. The Taycan is proof positive that you can have an incredible looking, well-built, high performance EV from a well-established company.

    5. Great review. I wonder what the owners charging routine is, especially with the longer drives to Cleveland. Does he charge at home, on the road, both?

    6. Awesome review!! I loved how the guy was willing to go on camera with you to explain why he made the purchase because it makes the video a lot more intersecting hearing from the Buyer who actually put their money on the line for the car. Absolute great car for the money and a great pick.

    7. Yeah, I'd rather have this than the S. I sat in a Taycan last time my Cayman was in for service & it's a nice place to be for the most part. Still too "screeny" for me, but better than the Teslas IMO. On the flip side, my friend has the Plaid, and aside from the insane pulls and the goofy wheel, it's no different than a normal S in daily driving as far as I can see….which I guess is a selling point to some, but he paid over 100k I think for that thing, and for that much I want to feel a little more special than that car does. And that sounds (and probably is) shallow, but IMO you gotta live with the car you buy, so buy something you're happy in.

But for now I think I'm sticking with gas. Gonna all be forced to drive these sooner or later by legislation or cost, so I can buy one then. For now I gotta figure out what to buy in the 100-130 price point as an alternative to a 5th gen viper because the viper is a bit too tight of a squeeze for me to be comfortable driving regularly.

    8. I'm looking at getting a 2020 Turbo. I'm curious are there any concerns with gearbox and maintenance in general? Any other physical maintenance that may come up?

What were the problems with 2020 models that they had to resolve?

    9. I've seen these 2021s going for $70k, 15k to 20k miles. Price is rapidly dropping every month it seems. Hoping to pick one up at around $60k.
