My friend Charles recently rode this route on his recumbent trike and I thought I’d check it out first on the MTB before commiting my trike to this tortuous route. I think I’ll pass on taking the trike along here but the MTB was just the right tool for the job:)

  1. Bradbury rings is out that way sandy..
    Don't over do it !..
Have a cycle to avebury stone circles (far superior to stone henge ) and enjoy a pint of cider in the red lion..

  2. Thanks Sandy for sparing the time to take us out on this scenic route and it's a case of horses for courses with that ride needing the Gravel bike. I do have to smile when ever you mention the Trike as you then have to smile yourself, great video 👏👋

  3. Lovely to see you out. I’ve just got back from camping at a military show. It was a truly miserable experience. Rain & mud was terrible. So much so I woke up laying in a pool of muddy water & had to retreat to the safety of my car. I’ve never seen mud like it. This was due to camping in a small walled WW2 canvas tent. Cheers 🍻

  4. Hello Mr Wiltshire Man ! Just wish to say that even at an age of past 77 years I still very much need to work to deserve my rewards whilst out on my bicycle ! It probably takes me twice as long in time to go half as far as I did 10 years ago but that dont matter as long as I'm out & about & able to do what I love ! Thank you for another video report !

  5. Good vid and commentary. I've just been following it round on google maps. It's a good puzzle.
Rain again. I got rained on yester on Mitcham common – but just bought a new long cag so ok.
I don't like cycling, but it's much better for your vids because you cover more distance and have more choice of material to show.
"Chase" is a legal term from Norman French I think.
Hope your work is going OK. I tend to think of retirement as a bit risky . . .

  6. I have started to ride an E bike and I love it. I had to change from my normal bike. .due to hip and knee problems . Just keeps us all going . Good to see you sandy live tour videos and the interesting facts and history. Xx

  7. What beautiful countryside! You can struggle up hill all you like,it reminds me of the man they found banging his head against a wall, when asked why he was doing it, he replied, because it feels so good when I stop. I'd rather moter up a hill than peddle or bike any day or even e bike it, exercise is OK,but heart attacks not so good.

  8. Good to see you got out for a blast across country on the Boot zipper. Sometimes it’s just what’s needed to blow the cobwebs away.
    Lovely views too. Thanks.

  9. Had covid Sandy slowly getting better it's good to watch your video Sandy with a brew👍👍soon i will be getting back on the bike well done Sandy on another interestin video🍺🍺🚴

  10. Hi ya, been watching your videos for a while now and I really enjoy them,as a bike rider myself I don't think there's a better feeling to be out cycling along, your a very good inspiration to us olde men 👍

  11. Nice litle ride, Sandy. Whenever I'm pulling a long hill, i sort of get tunnel vision and see none of the scenery.
I miss your little photo safaris you've done in the past. The 360 is fantastic, but nothing beats a great landscape or any other subject dobe in a fine camera. Photos for photos sake.
    Cheers

  12. A nice video again, lovely country side hope you didn't get to wet . My best wishes to you from the Philippines ❤️💪👍😉😀😁🐑🇵🇭🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

  13. Sandy, you have encouraged me to get my cycle on the road again (and maybe my Vstrom!). I am curious to know what the 2 devices are on your handlebars? I have a Garmin on the vstrom but nothing for the bike so appreciate your input. Cheers from Penetanguishene in cottage country Ontario

  14. Enjoyed this video bro, only cycle track here goes beside a country road to the next town, then to the next and so on. Think it's about 190kms from what I read once some time ago. Been a big push for these trails of late around the country where possessable. Safe travels. Ken.

  15. Nice to see you back out on your bike looked a bit windy sandy on two wheels this time no camping never mind hasn't been the weather rain rain and rain all the time been a bad year this year weather wise stay healthy one life enjoy blessed be

  16. We are blessed with beautiful countryside round wiltshire. Thank you for all your lovely adventures, im discovering so many places on my doorstep to go and see. Xx

  17. Thanks Sandy for another great video. Great to see the great views and landscape all accompanied by the wind rushing through the trees, hedges and grass.
You'll be looking out for an off road recumbent trike,,,,,,,,

  18. Sandy, your videos help keep me sane. Thanks so much. Hope you're doing OK. Please give Mandy a big hug. When she says "What's that for?", tell her "It's from Neil and he hopes your foot feels better soon". 🤗

  19. Hi Sandy , nothing to do with this video , I past you today on your trike, may I make a suggestion , you were wearing all black, as you are lower to the ground and you have your flags showing, you could do with wearing a reflective jacket or bib, as so you show up as you are riding the trike. This is an observation from a car approaching you , you are more vulnerable as your lower down on the road. All the best Graham Cox.

  20. It's ok knocking people taking the 'easy route' on ebikes etc when you live in just about the flattest part of the country Sandy! 😂
Come to my hill farm in the North Pennines – with my ebike on full assist my heart rate still hits the 170's on every decent hill, and I'm a fairly fit 40 year old – I'm just against the idea of getting off and pushing it, not against the idea of putting effort in!

The ebike build I did with my own Bootzipper (mentioned it in a previous comment to you a few weeks back) has worked out perfectly. It cost me £1900 all in, for the bike, motor and a decent Samsung battery, and it gets about 80 miles on a charge as long as i pedal, even on these Northumbrian hills. Buying from a manufacturer they'd charge about £8-9k for something with the same performance, so I'm pretty chuffed with it. The Bootzipper has such a fantastic frame for it all to fit on, if you ever get to the point where your health stops you using it as an 'acoustic' bike, know that it makes a very nice base for a conversion project.
    All the best 🙂

  21. Beautiful country, Sandy! I have been thinking about getting back on my bike again. You are a real inspiration to me. Cheers!
