welcome to eurobike 2024 bikes are busing past me left right and Center almost got run over so today in this video we want to share some of the cool bikes I’ve seen in my time here at this huge show let’s dive in with some really cool bikes so what do we have here then this is the parle taus it’s our second new bike in a while um this is a replacement to our chebacco and is our new gravel offering uh we’re really excited about it with able to do some really uh really cool things as we sort of move into this next generation of gravel 2.0 um you know there are some uh familiar things that you would expect to see on a on a bike like this with internal storage a udh rear hanger t47 bottom bracket um ACR routing for the headset 31.6 seat post so you can really uh customize and adapt this bike to uh to be as you need it to and as you want to um there is support on the front end for a suspension Fork um and support for uh for a dropper post at the rear some other things I wanted to point out though just sort of the bigger picture here is this is a this is also a single piece monoco uh frame construction much like the Ure that we released just uh just two months ago um this is also produced in Europe um and uh is available by default in this raw carbon finish you see the carbon there’s no no paint on it or is there thin clear coat there’s no paint no clear coat no finishing um there no epoxies and fillers this is just raw carbon fiber with a little wipe of uh of a protective wax you see all the different shapes and pieces can’t you it’s really exciting for us to be able to put our workmanship on display you know a little bit like a a show your work project um we’re very proud of the the work we’ve put into layup on the spike um we put so much effort into making sure for us that that the whole frame moves like you want it to you know we we don’t solve uh for compliance with little rubber bushings and things that’s not really our Jam for us it’s it’s really about making sure that the entire frame of the bike functions like it should and we do that through these really complex carbon fiber layups way more complex than than most manufacturers that allow us to really dial in exactly how every single tube moves and behaves the focus on this bike particularly was on traction um so yes comfort and compliance are important for sure especially on a on a sort of a race oriented gravel bike like this um but in addition the ability to to maintain contact with the surface that you’re riding on through very rough conditions um and slippery conditions is uh is key this bike is huge irresponsive I mean it’s uh crazy get out of the pedal you st out of the saddle you step on the pedals and it just goes but um but also the uh the rear of the bike will will move vertically to allow you the uh um the suspension and and coverage you’re not going to get any of that side to side or that twisting motion through the bottom of the frame it’s a very kind High front end so suspension corrected geometry but very SL top tube small red triangle lots of seat post you put a drop a seat post in there I guess want you can absolutely yep um and the bike’s available in six different sizes each size has obviously it’s own layup own geometry and a progressively sloping top tube the focus there has been on supporting smaller framed Riders and giving them uh more options we’re delighted to see more women riding gravel and want to make sure that the widest possible audience has access to uh to a bike Lakers is it aimed at racing adventure bike packing of all your more of a race oriented gravel bike um um but for longer distance races so we built this bike with the sort of 150 200 mile gravel races in mind coincidentally that happens to give us a geometry that is a little bit more upright and a little bit more stable for someone who’s going to spend 6 or8 hours on the bike so the the geometry for this bike also works very well for a casual uh weekend uh Rider who’s out just exploring gravel um and perhaps moving to this from mountain bikes or or moving to gravel from uh from a road experience what sort of Tire clearance are we looking at on the bike well up to 50 mil 50 mil okay and 700 seat only 650 700 only okay yeah and do we have mounts bags and bottles and fenders or yes there is a fender kit um so the fender mounts are hidden and there’s a fender kit to mount uh fenders uh ventor box supporter but the up at the top end um we decided not to go crazy with a ton of mounts on this I’m sure some of our customers will adapt it to do that but that really wasn’t what we originally set out with and we have frame storage yes we’re very proud of this um we have a uh uh push button U mechanism here for release just one press and the the top lifts straight out NE you also know a real clean uh frame inside we’re really proud of that manufacturing um you know and again just uh just all of our work on display and refitting the the uh the cover is just as easy uh just press down click into place and you’re done it’s very simple isn’t it very simple I like it so available now uh we’ll start shipping in August okay um and uh we should have all frames uh all sizes available by uh early October fantastic so this is probably the lightest mount bike on display here at eurobike this year I claimed a 5.86 kg a carbon fiber hard tail Man bike with some trick components we’re here in the trick stuff stand and they make brakes very tidy braks indeed super lightweight Disc break rotors and super light calipers as well how cool they look I love the Polish Fork daro carbon fiber H bar stem we’re turn routing and look at the seat post with a built-in saddle that’s pretty funky no pad on there too very nice and super lightweight stripped the paint right off you see a carbon fiber layout on show there super lightweight set gold chain carbon rims at B cage look at that nothing to it at all so that is easily the lightest mountain bike on display here at eurobike 5.86 kilog pretty special on the Rondo stand we have a new route with a very interesting frame design similar to that specialite hybrid came out a few months ago so a really compact rear triangle and no seat tube down here to the bottom bracket crazy looking frame not really sure what the benefits are to be honest but it does look different and that’s no bad thing so yeah interesting design let me know what you think by dropping a comment down below so there’s a gravel bike gravel tires not sure Tire semi internal routing on the front and look at that head tube look how Square boxy that head tube is very very chunky chunky monkey indeed and a big big Stout Fork look at that and they still have their flip chip in the dropouts and look at how the disc Brak it mounted to the fork as well we spent quite a lot of time working on this uh the big thing was that we wanted something it that fits like a piece of clothing rather than um a bag so you’ll see there’s like tons of adjustability in this so we’ve got sort of a side retention shoulder retention and the chest retention and this is what’s a big challenge with P what was the biggest problem to a lot of it fit so the one thing is is obviously we wanted it to fit a range of sizes and fit comfortably cuz you’re going to be wearing it for a long time so that’s why I was saying we looked at it as more like a tailoring a piece of clothing than we did like a bag okay so the reason for like we have two sizes in this so This is actually the large extra large and then we do a small medium so there’s a little bit of crossover in them due to all the adjustability um but it was difficult to get that for every type of body size um so you’ll see you obviously get your width of your chest from here and then you can bring over how much the bag is by your top tension and then you’ve got eventually your chest tension here and also how the bag’s been designed in terms of where the weight goes so tons of storage on the front we made this so you can fit a bottle of Coke in you’ve got phone pouch which is pleed as well so you can get a few snacks in there you say bottle of coke yeah is that based on feedback from uh yes so we found like a a lot of the ultra stuff you know you want just a fizzy drink there gas station saw yeah stuff and basically it’s the same on the back so these will fit a bottle in each these are actually a bit bigger okay so you can get your 2 lers of liquid in which is what the bladder is in here but then you can probably put about another two lers of liquid just randomly in in bottles as well when it’s fully loaded up with that weight it’s still stable and comfortable done digging and yeah so that’s the whole point of it is so and you’ll see like the way it’s it’s shaped around as well there stuff like this is a higher point just for the fact when you’re leaning forward on the bike you know he not pulling from the bottom corner into your ribs so there’s lots of little details in the angling of things so it’s always sitting well when you’re on the bike and this actually sits a lot higher on the back so you can still get to your jersey pockets as well so put like that so you see in here there’s a 2 L bladder is that your own bladder or yeah that’s our own you design your own okay yeah so it’s got a slide system cross top so it just comes off and unlocks it’s also got a detachable hose on the bottom so it means that you don’t have to unthread the hose every time that’s two liters that’s two lit one option one size one option yeah one size and then you’ve got a main compartment here you’ve got another couple of liters in so and this is for food and the nice thing with this is you’ll see there’s like a pleat system inside so what that does is when you bladder fills up it goes into the bag not into your back cuz a lot of them you’ll get your fill up and the back of it B and you feel like you’ve got hun in your back so nice little bits like that have you had people testing this actual racing yeah it’s been now um quite a few guys on Unbound okay and stuff um yeah quite a few Ultras over the last few months it’s probably been on the road for about 6 or eight months already so there’s been lots of adjustments and lots of our ambassadors who are very different sizes and Heights and things so yeah it’s probably taken a year for it to get to the stage it is so and it’s even down to like magnetic Clips as well so it’s just super easy to put on and off they’ve got stuff like a lot of the Races they say like you know you need a foil blanket you need a whistle whistle yeah and it’s a whistle it is detachable so you can take it off regular yeah so for those people who care about the extra three Gams you can take you can take the whistle off so and available now the short available now so water we got here then new valves so these are the new exore valves from stands first name and tubeless and what’s the big story big benefits of these so number one they’re high flow air and ceilings uh on top of that they’re extremely simple extremely clean and they don’t need any tools and to walk you through it real quick I’m going to start at the top we have the tap cap which stands for Twist and pull instead of like twisting like back in the olden days just twists and it comes right off okay and the EXO part of the EXO or is this I’m going to say it’s the exoskeleton and this is the the basic idea of it so we’re going to assume that the uh tire is filled with air already and this is on the on the rim so for I’m going to say one4 turn to a third turn you can microed it and I can show you on the tire over there too uh then go for a full turn and you can totally blow it all out um and the other beautiful thing is the insides the sealant at no time touches any any rubber like none of the grommets and what that means means is it’s not going to clog it’s going to stay stay very clean um and the other beautiful thing about this is this valve I’m sorry this uh brass call a piston it’s super durable unlike the prea like everybody has like at least one set of bikes with a prea valve at an angle um and if this does get cloged this gets a little bit dirty you just wipe it off like that so it goes back in there and over to here so this is the uh the core and this has been bored out to uh like I’m going to say like double or triple the flow of the air and seal that goes in and the other beautiful thing about this is if you do have a u uh press the core it’ll screw right in so more air flow no clogging correct just simpler and easier more durable reliable corre correct and the last things I’ll show you is uh the uh the nut has a an o-ring on it too to keep it keep it close easier and then the uh the gasket I’m going to call it the gasket uh has been reshaped to fit the curvature of the rim like in it’ll go that way I don’t know if we can get that yes there so and it’s it’s a software material so it makes a much much better seal so the old square around ones will go up to like 90% this is 100% steel and then at the very end uh more air flow for the inserts uh so it’s coming out the sides and the bottom so if there’s an insert it’s it’s also come out the sides cool available now in shops uh no September like I say mid September and what’s the price of it again so for the extra for the so we’re going to go medium uh large and regular those are $55 us and the extra tall is going to be $65 that valve length I mean yeah the valve l so pass with man bik Gravel Road rims yes absolutely so what do we have here then so this is the new Double L chain wear Tool uh dou L stands for linear and lateral um so yeah we’re going to measure multiple facets of chain wear at this point so two big things when we talk about linear wear what we’ve traditionally called stretch um we’re the first in the industry to kind of get accurate results with both aam flat toop chain with its larger roller diameter and with a legacy roller diameter so uh if we’re only going to pull off of one side of the roller you’re you have to know what diameter the roller is otherwise it’s going to have an impact on that uh reading it’s easy to say oh it’s not that big of a difference if you’re measuring five Links of chain it’ll under report where by 2% so it can be the difference between replacing just a chain and an entire dve tra uh so measuring lar wear is super easy uh to do on the bike but you basically you’re going to put that roller in that little v-shaped Notch and then we’re going to go to the other side and then we’re going to line up one of those holes with uh the pin on the chain and so we’ve got 0.25% down at the bottom .5. 75 1% and then we do a 0% is kind of a calibration Hole uh to kind of just instill confidence in the tool over its lifespan um so yeah kind of a cool thing removes roller wire from the equation as well and then like I said that v-shaped Notch uh accurately locates both uh both roller diameters the other side of the tool the lateral wear is something that’s become more of an issue as we come into one by Drive trains that are kind of designed to be uh run at wider angles um so yeah this has to be done off of the bike um but we extend five links out and then if we’re the chain sags below our uh recommended replacement Mark then you know then you’re ready for a new chain in terms of shift quality so um this is a chain that when you saw it on the other side was about. 25.3% of linear Weare um definitely way before where we would replace that chain from a traditional standpoint but this chain was removed from service because it wasn’t shifting well so when you think of the the derailers moving around from the bottom and it dances over and then the Chain’s got to jump up that cassette if it’s got all that extra play in there those shifting motions of the derailer are you know getting delayed and you’re not getting that optimal shifting is it the first tool of a type to do both measurements it is so yeah something that we’ve actually got a patent pending on uh in the US and’ll probably file uh International once here before the end of the year but uh yeah kind of a unique thing that’s uh that’s been a factor in smaller applications uh more limited use cases um for a long time but the one by thing is really kind of brought it to a head so um yeah starting the conversation around that getting some uh some Factory Texs and some chain manufacturers chain Brands to kind of warm up to this idea and realize it like yeah we know that that’s a thing but we’ve kind of always kept it quiet so it’s very unlike any other chain wear tool isn’t it yep definitely definitely a new New Concept so I’m available now yeah so they’re available in the UK at Saddleback uh has received their first shipment um they’ve been pretty successful for us so we had them in and out of stock within a matter of hours um for better and worse good problems to have for sure um so yeah we’re continuing to make make more in our Oregon shop and we’ll have them back in a few weeks they all made in us still yeah y we make them in b working along with everything else to myself so and can I ask how much it cost us anduk 45 us I think the UK price is a little bit more than that uh I want to say about 50 um but yeah other colors available just one color freedom from Choice any color you want as long as it’s green perfect cool thank you awesome yeah thanks so we have some new technology here which physique have been embracing the new Saddles can you talk to us about the technology how it works and how you use the technology to achieve a custom saddle yeah heart and soul is uh the pressure mapping technology so we’ve got a sensor mat with 64 sensors in it and I can just put that sensor mat as a cover as a cover on a saddle and then by uh connecting that to a to a software or to an app like in the case of physique we can um we can measure dynamically what happens in the interaction between the pelvis and the saddle so we see exactly if you’re loading more the right side the left side if you’re rotating to the front or to the back if your hip is stable or if your hip is instable so you put this on a normal saddle bike and and you ride on a stationary trainer exactly and then you have this data here which shows you and then we see exactly the Hotpot so where are the points that the pelvis is loading more the saddle and then we can translate that result into in our case for example a bike fit adjustment let’s say maybe it’s better to go a little bit a little bit lower with the saddle maybe 5 mm lower or in the case of physique we can translate that into a custom saddle production what are the benefits I know a stupid question what are the benefits of this over a regular sadle off shelf not everybody is really sitting symmetric on the saddle so you always have these individual elements the hots spot can be a little bit more to the front can be a little bit more to left or to right and when you do a custom settle you don’t have to care about a large group of people you can just care about this individual case and make a product that works as as good as possible for this individual case is that a big takeaway you found that people aren’t symmetrical on a saddle they kind of have a a lean to one side or the other side they we see that all the time okay yeah and you have a lot of bike fit so positioning details to make it better sadle heide plays a role sadle positioning but of course you can also work on the SLE model itself to customize it what sort of future do you expect to see for this product and your company generally go forward um so we Define ourselves as specialists in terms of pressure mapping and it’s definitely our plan to roll that out over maybe not just over the saddle but also for other contact points so I think that we’re just okay at the starting line of this whole project and product line they might say gloves or handb grips or B tape perhaps or a lot is possible okay fantastic

  1. Loooove the Parlee Taos, it has everything I need in a gravel (the looks, storage, udh, huge tire clearance). Fortunately the made to order + EU manufacturing is going to price it out of my budget 😀

  2. Parlee used to make great bikes. Honestly not sure how they are now. But, Jonathan left and went to Reynolds years ago and the customer service fell apart. Tom Rody or whatever his name was wasn’t great. Probably meant well but he isn’t Jonathan. We dumped them as a manufacturer at that point.

  3. The geometry looks really good. Most of this characteristics I love about my Salsa Journeyer. Of course the Salsa frame was $699 and this Parlee is $5590. I think I’m good for now.
