It’s a busy day even if the weather is gloomy at Lake Vyrnwy, for cars, walkers and cyclists

Lake Vyrnwy was built between 1881-1888, it is a reservoir in Wales which supplies Liverpool with fresh water, besides the reservoir the area is a nature reserve and is jointly managed by RSPB and Hafryn Dyfrdwy, it’s a popular destination for for ornithologists, cyclists and hikers.
The river Vyrnwy flows out of the reservoir into Shropshire where it joins the river Severn at the village of Melverley on the Welsh border.
311 brooks, waterfalls and rivers run into Vyrnwy, keeping it topped up, although in very hot summers it has been low enough to see the village of Llanwddyn that was flooded to make the reservoir.

hello H welcome to Wales I can’t see any whales well can’t see any Dolphins nothing no no You’ think there might be out there might you yeah then you’re probably wondering what the heck we’re talking about there’s lots of water in front of us there’s loads of water quite a few waves on there yeah it’s hard to say there could could be a Welsh Lock Ness in there for all we know well Lock Ness Lock Ness monster it’s a lock not a Lo Ness no a lock Nessie a Nessie yeah no nessie’s here no yeah there’s Nessie she’s not swimming in there there’s no swimming allowed in there no no it says no fires no swimming no overnight park in no fires on a sign straight in front of us yes and if you’re wondering where we are we’re at Lake verway look at my hair wind swept yeah well it is a bit windy out there and that’s why we’re driving and not walking today it’s quite Breezy out there and the temperature is not very good we’ve just been listening just sitting watching the water listening to some lovely caling music well it wasn’t music was it it was just sound sound of water yeah and we tried to do a little experiment and it didn’t work didn’t pick up the music the sound from my sound no that’s right never mind that was a goop to them they don’t know what we’re talking about oh no we might be might as well be talking about the Man in the Moon there isn’t one is there we don’t know that only in the John Louis edver no but what about that film what film the one we watched where they went inside the Moon it was built by aliens never mind getting too complicated now it doesn’t matter yeah yes yeah anyway we’re going to go and take you on a Lakeside drive around Lake verway MH and even though it’s a cloudy murky horrible miserable sort of day you’ll still get some views of the lake as we drive around yeah and all the traffic and people walking and people on by probably but still never mind am I ranting yeah didn’t wasn’t a rant it was just saying what we’ll see you’re rambling you’re rambling then that’s more like it anyway let’s go we’ll catch in a moment oh dear come on get this car in gear and go well let’s just let them dest that bit of a view there of a tree can I try using me me sound again yeah but but either side of the tree you’ve got the reservoir you got there we go let’s see if you get the the sound now I can hardly hear it I don’t don’t yeah but you’re de what sh it’s probably not working yep what’s right there well we’ve let you digest that little bit of water for a moment let’s go on our leg drive you didn’t because we were talking over it no but they’ve digested The View oh come on let’s go you can go on forever yeah well we want to go backwards anyway yes backwards backwards backwards there’s a car coming I can see headlights yes we don’t want to Buck put bucks into him what what are you there’s nowhere near us no come on must be a blade of grass in the way you’re all right that side anyway no one else coming nobody behind nobody coming in front let’s go yeah and take you for a Lakeside Drive I the Walkers are out yeah as I said the Walkers are out [Music] [Music] I one thing about driving around here at this time of year you can see the reservoir because uh there’s no leaves on the trees if we come in the summer you can’t see a lot it’s all hidden [Music] very popular for uh Walkers and cycling around this leg you can even hire bikes from there The Visitor Center Visitor Center which is at the head of the reservoir [Music] [Music] Make Way for a little one this Lakeside Drive is the b43 93 if anyone’s looking for it and find it on Google [Music] Maps and drive it on Google Maps for yourself yes you can it’s how I find a lot of my roads in Wales when I’m doing my research is I actually go on Google Maps and drive them think well that looks like a nice Road we’ll drive that one but this particular road we’ve driven many many times before previous to us making YouTube videos yeah and coming up our right hand side as a turning as well which takes us up over the mountains we’re not going that route today but it is a very nice drive and sometimes you well if you’re lucky you can catch a glimpse of the wild ponies we did catch a glimpse of them last time didn’t we [Music] it’s quite choppy on that water today it’s very choppy down there you can almost go surfing yeah there’s quite a few white white horses down there yeah waterfall on our right yeah you can just pick it up pick it up on the camera there we go it’s a better shot it’s not a big waterfall but it’s quite pleasing to the eye it’s quite a large Reservoir verway it is it’s huge there are bigger ones in Wales but uh there quite a nice one around here driving around this one is it Liverpool it feeds I’m not sure whe this one um yes could do I’m not 100% I know one further north of here serves Liverpool but whether this one does as well I’m not sure I can’t look it up on the phone because I’ve got no signal no no of signal around here [Music] it is a nice drive around the lake and if you’re brave enough to GA on a bike and go around on a bike it’s probably even nicer [Music] yes not we’re not into Bush bikes they scared the paj J us out me I don’t mind if I can get have be guaranteed a cycle path but uh and there’s other vehicles no you wouldn’t get me on a bike I’m a wuss like that too long in the tooth to get on a bik now after all these [Music] years hope you got enough Electric in your car [Music] very old bridge going over now obviously built when the road was built there’s not too many cyclists about today on the a I think it’s a bit too Breezy for cyclists today the best of weather don’t know they’re normally a Hardy Bunch they normally are yeah now I can’t tell if there’s anybody no you’re right we’re all right oh there is a van coming now yeah we’re all right we got a passing place here big enough for a van Avante oh he’s got the dolphins with him that’s where they are they’re in the van he hasn’t released them in the in the reservoir no it’s a bit too choppy for [Music] now it’s usually waterfall just here on my right oh it’s not yeah it’s a little it’s only a dribble down it’s a dribble absolute dribble today you wouldn’t think so the amount of rain had [Music] [Music] more coming down that w m but nothing to get excited [Music] about oh look a bike he’s got his sunglasses on yeah oh that must be Dad yeah you’re just going ahead Dad yeah with your sunglasses yeah on a dreary miserable day no sun out all it just must look cool [Music] [Music] m- now that one is a bit more fantastic oh you need to go back can I get a shot of that can I get enough angle on probably not yes just there we go yeah there it is I can’t go any further I’ll be in the no stop there that one’s quite spectacular yeah that’s that’s fair gushing down yes just in time there’s a car coming behind me now [Music] B tie around this little bit for [Music] wonder if he’s run all the way [Music] around probably has how we going that side but man you should be on that side in first place against the traffic yeah and towards the end of the lake now far off camper ANS lined up there [Music] yeah for [Music] he’s not very big we didn’t have to squeeze in too much for that [Music] one oh he’s a bit bigger yes [Music] m wondering if we can get the tower showing up can’t get in a position really [Music] [Music] just pull on here and see if we can get shot on there it is that’s the end of the reservoir and you can distance you can actually hire boats here from this little bit Yeah to go out onto the reservoir all sorts of things you can hire here and up to our left it’s not just on the screen I’ll just reverse a bit he’s nowhere near me just to the left on the other side that is a hotel up there oh we got a loads of people now m [Music] [Music] video is a little bit longer than usual but we wanted you to bring you [Music] up along the end to the bridge and we’re going to take you over the bridge the head of the reservoir [Music] not so choppy here no no smoo the I think it actually tells you on the signs up there it does yes but we can’t see them yeah Liverpool Corporation of Liverpool yeah is Liverpool that feeds yeah you were right I thought you were 100% but I think I hope you’ve enjoyed that trip you can’t quite get that in unfortunately this side of the dam no but uh
