Tour de France riders consume an average of 8,000 calories per day, per stage. At 1.96m and 130kg, Jamie Christian, aka the Giant is used to crushing these kinds of calorific intakes, consuming about 6,500 calories during training, not to mention the 11,000 calories required during a bulking phase. But inside those calories, the foods and nutrition required is very different. So, we’re swapping out the breakfasts to see how Hank and Jamie handle it.

Tor of France Riders eat an enormous amount nearly 8,000 calories per day per stage but the question is what would happen if I gave a tour to France Rider’s breakfast to one of the world’s biggest bodybuilders how would the breakfasts compare and would I manage it it’s time we find out oh Jesus man I get you sweating just looking at this CU I had extra sausage for the breakfast what I’m going to get food sweats 100% like burping a baby [Music] welcome my friends to Jamie Christian aka the giant he was the world’s biggest bodybuilder at 1 m96 and weighing in at 130 kilos it’s fair to say that Jamie is an absolute monster and then we we have our cyclist in the form of Hank he is on a good day 1.7 m and weighs in at 75 kilos the Giant’s diet is insane he consumes 6 and a 12,000 calories a day to keep up with his intense training regime but that increases up to 11,000 calories a day during a bulking phase but how does that compare to a cyclist fueling arguably the world’s hardest endurance event the tour to France a tour to France Rider could consume in excess of 5 to 8,000 calories per stage depending on the difficulty so in our minds this could be quite an even battle but will the giant handle the tour to France breakfast and will Hank our cyclist handle the Giant’s breakfast let’s find out hello there how you doing Jamie for you a classic to of France breakfast three fruit toasts you don’t do porridge do you instead of porridge I think let’s go if you got like granola and yogurt could we do like three bowls of that for drink Let’s do an orange juice for the Vitamin C two double espressos um and then we’ll just see how we get on I don’t really base it around the carbs are based around the calories so we’re going to look to get as many calories in here as possible at least probably 3,000 yeah yeah so we’re going to go for the apple tree breakfast please yeah I don’t like mushrooms cuz I replace the mushrooms and the tomato with an extra slice of toast yeah side order a french toast please yeah could I add extra sausage for the breakfast coconut flat white God you wouldn’t have a cocon off I would I would definitely definitely yeah I’ll have oat milk card what cakes have you got in today for breakfast Cherry B that’s perfect I love a cherry bake yeah and it goes lovely with a coffee as well yeah and that bit do you know what I’m sweating already I got the food sweat just here in your order loser pays all right done thank you so thank you this is my lovely friend as well so the TR oh that would be mine performance uh that’s good health you need that one and this one is shine which is kind of strawberry based with other I think they’ve worked out perfectly performance and shine exct skin complexion you definitely need digestion help and I can’t remember what that one is for a to likey this they want to get hydrated real real quick you’re out in the sun for between 4 and 6 hours in the mountains so hydration is key cheers brother cheers as your as your stter before your breakfast thank you D thank you thank you so much mate don’t mind me mate du it into your Jerry B go for it enjoy enjoy promise you won’t be a diabetic tomorrow got to do some cardio after this to get the blood sugars back in check so you can get calories in from obviously a lot of good food but essentially to eat 10,000 day there’s got to be a bit of bad stuff to pack it out as well oh so this is the filler it does feel like a filler right now how are those going now going good I I do like my coffee imagine I’m in Italy right now or France yeah yeah we are in you’re in France right now you’re ready for the queen stage perfect thank you very much three of yeah three of those for my man and then one is two slices is it that’s not three that’s six really holy oh there’s four sausages and a little like half one small step perfect I think that’s for me as well yeah there you go thank you very much oh it’s a fruit toast and granola that’s it time three I thought it just one granola no no that was times three yeah thank you buddy thank you so much man appreciate it oh Jesus man I got his sweat just looking at this should we stuck in yeah let’s go for it all right good luck man good luck for you good luck for you [Music] [Applause] right cuz I’ve been eating for years I don’t know whether it’s because of that or it’s just my personality I have a very particular way of eating things oh see but my toast I’ve done it wrong you’re just bit of an animal aren’t you really cyclist animal can’t take you cyclist anywhere [Applause] [Music] can’t eat six of those I’m making this three I need to stop talking how you do it eat that’s what I do I [Applause] concentrate So Jamie you you consume I read this like minimum 6,500 like this is obviously when we like you’re bulking you you you know you’re working on that muscle growth which is actually very similar to a Tor France Rider who’s looking at between I mean it’s different on different Siz Riders but 6,000 to 8,000 calories per day obviously the morning is a good time to sit down and try and cram in as much of those slow releasing carbs like oats and stuff y but we would try and stay off the proteins MH cuz s actually just told like you know you carry a lot of weight in the gut so you want it just to go straight into energy I thought it would be quite an even battle but it’s we’ chosen very different foods for different reasons really yeah yours is primarily towards energy right energy and performance 100% all energ mine is very similar but the the difference is protein for the muscle building content yeah building and repairing musle tis cuz I’ve had five sausages bro and and beans three bacon three egg at three bacon that that was struggled to eat by the way oh yeah the B don’t forget the bake well top y but you eat it it’s quite fatty that’s what I didn’t think a bodybuilder would want the fats again from a point of view you got to imagine at this time I’m probably 10 my heaviest 160 kilos body weight yeah I’m about 70 so the amount of calories I need to consume is far greater anyway yeah and then the amount of calories I’m going to burn off just just walking about is huge yeah so you’re going to need to bump up those calories with a bit of crap as well yeah but that really is probably 10% of the diet 90% of the diet is going to be good food cuz then if you eat too much bad food yeah you’re going to gain weight but then with that it’s probably going to come a certain look and high blood pressure and all sorts of other ailments that you don’t want and interestingly like I was just saying like we as cyclist have got to consume that amount of calories while riding like up two in the panes on theps we don’t often get the time to actually sit down have a chat and tuck in like it’s all on the go fast foods yeah whereas body building is complete opposite yeah spend as much time as you can sit sat down and the limit I feel like you got the better deal bab I’m want is I mean what would be interesting is if we prod chose a hill of some kind yeah I can do that and then we’ll bike pack you up to my system weight oh and see who can get up the hill if there’s any difference in a big difference in time okay that’ be interesting yeah on let’s do it if this video what should we say 6,000 likes we’ll get Jamie back on and as a bit of an extra I’ll give pain my bicep routine [Music] be a bit of moral support okay all right like burping a baby I Feel Jesus Christ that’s real C [Music] belly so could you imagine eating like this every day no I can do it like genuinely I’m I’m literally not the biggest fan of eating I I do it as a just a a way of fueling see it is fuel not a lot of people find eating like a passion for me don’t care what about training for a ride I guess you’re on a specific either diet or level of calories or macros that you need to consume I did start weighing my food when I was riding a lot mhm to get the right amounts cuz I knew I was under fueling the whole time y cuz even on a 4our bik ride I I don’t like eating that much no I find like my body types quite easy to put on F you know a lot of people like Sai for example super fast metabolism you know can eat as much as he wants and nothing goes on him when for me it either turns into muscle or it turned into fat bit like you you know quite similar probably Brothers we are yeah the Heritage the blood lines run deep yeah they do how does it feel that feels all right to be it touch the surface it did yeah it was it was definitely a nice amount um and to be fair I could have finished this it wasn’t for boredom and not you know you didn’t finish yours so I’m just trying to not make you feel yeah yeah yeah I appreciate that M but good fuel source for sure granola yogurt fruit toast yeah I can see where you’re going with the carbohydrates and the energy yeah so the idea you know behind all that and keep it nice and boring is also just to make sure that the digestive system keep keeps going through and you’ve gone for like obviously the heavy proteins and stuff and I think the cyclist has got to take that into account that in 3 hours time we get on the bike and racing over 100 miles potentially and up mountains and day after day after day after day so you kind of what like don’t want to have just too much weight yeah for sure in there you just want to kind of consume it turns into energy I don’t you don’t want to get caught short on the bike either I mean I could end up losing the race it’s happened before but let’s be honest no one wants to try and do number two on the bike those bibs aren’t number two friendly interesting though how like both of us eating is just so important fueling is just so important yeah yeah I think the food part is the hardest part and that’s what it makes a difference between a top top level athlete and somebody who just you know enjoys doing it and perhaps wants to be a top level athlete but just hasn’t got the mental capacity to stick with this laborious yeah thing it’s like um a job in itself eat 100% if you guys agree then do let us know in that comment section below don’t forget if you want to see see another video with me and Jamie to hit that thumbs up button and um also just let me know who you think’s bigger we’ll see you in the next video Yeah Christ

    1. What food and drink do you consume to prepare your body for a big ride? Let us know in the comments 👇

    2. "Tour de France riders eat the same as anyone else for the distance and climbing." They don't have different physiology.
What cyclists do is propel a wheeled vehicle through air, and lift the mass of the vehicle against gravity.
What bodybuilders do is use machines or freeweights to lift mass against gravity. Much more mass, more often.

Many good bodybuilders, at some time, are offered an evening job as a male stripper. I was offered £1000 per night, in 1984.

    3. "I eat really just to fuel" such an English thing to say haha, this kind of perspective is always amusing from a French viewer's point of view XD

    4. lol as a bigger rider I love seeing content that feels inviting to riders who don’t look like Tour de France riders, and dont intend to.
