Judging by the paint on the headset cup, I feel like this is a very old conversion, with probably some prior accidents. Glad you’re ok

Looks like an incredibly old set up. These things happen. There was likely signs of cracking for quite some time before this event. A good habit is to give the bike a once over around lugs and joins on bikes in general. I’ve definetly been there before snapping a frame clean in half 😅

The fork broke a long time ago you just didn’t notice till this happened! Luckily the scrap value of the steel is probably more than you paid for it
