Hi,

I'm a bit lost. Hope to get some help here.
So I am looking for my first normal, but budget MTB and now I have two options. Specialized Rockhopper Expert 29 or Trek Procaliber 6.
Actually, I almost bought Giant Fathom 2 for a good price, but it was a bit too big for my size and shop didn't have other sizes.

We have no big hills where I live and maybe XC bike would suit me better (having in mind that I would use the bike on tarmac as well) , but I like technical roads in the forests and some small jumping so my mind is leading me to more trail-focused bike.

Anyway, I suppose these two options are more on XC size. However, Trek has a bit more front travel (100 vs 120mm), bit more angled fork (which is also tapered). Also it has thru axle and dropper. So specs seems a bit better. Price is +100eur for a Trek, but it seems to be a bit more futureproof option.

But maybe I am missing something with Specialized bike and it's actually better in some other ways which could be more important?

I appreciate any input on this!

The Rockhopper Expert is a pretty bad buy at $/EU1,200. Like you said, old standards and such. If the Trek is only $100 more and comes with a dropper it would be a no-brainer.
Of course, sit on both and buy they one you think feels better.
