this is it guys the final round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup before the Olympics get started in just under 3 weeks time and what a Fitting Place For It the French Alps where historic Le provides the perfect testing ground by the end of today we will have a clear idea of what we can expect when our athletes take the starting line in Paris plus there are just three rounds remaining towards the overall World Cup title adding plenty of spice into the [Music] mix so it starts with that famously tough long climb a never ending climb certainly feels like it when you’re riding it then heads up into the wood line technical descents are plenty lots and lots of roots in there before it heads back up again really A Tail of Two climbs and two descends drops down through the big bike park turns heads through this really really tricky piece section it’s been soaked all night massive amounts of water falling last night until they go green Sam gar in the middle getting swallowed up bad start for gar as he slips the pedal Simon Andreas and disappears up the road Charlie Aldridge alen harly Cale Factory racing one two three up the hill join by Luca Schwarz Bower fast fenetic start as we had anticipated Thomas lard right in there as well LCA Brio moving backwards slightly as well lar forer moving forward but at the minute in the Red Bull helmet for Cale Factory racing it’s Simon Andreas on the right hand side and they see him K in the white helmet Alan hly and to his left lucao has taken the lead there he is the Italian national champion and then it’s hly behind him with a small Gap already here 4 seconds Simon Andreas Simon Andreas he’s on fourth place now it’s Ellen Hatley who is second three canel Riders two three and four here in the race we have Danel Brio moves through the par now Matas Fluker yeah come to the front pass Charlie Aldridge thir Place M Aly just in front of him almost here on the most difficult part of the course almost at the highest point here we go this is how Luca Brio got in the lead on the last lap performance to over rers long range Cruz missile up an attack took three Riders and one goal and then just kept going B yeah it’s really a real Attack of him wow just bends his elbow around the tree there Luca Brio absolutely superb love to see a replay of that Maas already back on the wheel of elleny in front of him three of these at the front now Ollie back together again it’s Brio from hly from Fluker is there any opportunity to work together here or is this going to be a straight out gun fight I think on this circuit there’s very little flat sections you straight from The Descent straight into the climb so it’s every man for himself but was a maaz just watching from the outside with speed of looking on the way up through so he had to start on the third row due to that kind of poor short track but different tactics here he’s running this sectioner running past slow I’m telling you now that will not have gone down well with the South African but he’s got the move done fluger so it’s Brio fluger havly all the Geller and they are 21 well Luca Schwarz bar is 21 seconds off the lead there he is in your screen there Luca Schwarz bar with Andreas for company three groups pluger into the lead now we did say he was looking good he Fanci turn the front here and this technical section now really suits the Swiss look at Al har putting the effort to get right back up on the back of him again yeah Mato likes to lead this is an attack are nearly out the front [Music] door big SE yeah 7 seconds now for Lua yeah and Gaye continued his move he was in the middle of that Bunch he’s now pushing the front of it now back up into sixth place4 is now lcao 14 seconds off the lead and third here we GOP it was the opposite fler having to dig deep to get back on the back of up this a little the shoulder he feels that he’s stronger here on this climb is also just a bad moment what you have if you didn’t take your gel or your energy to you a really pushing on there you see him look behind big attack and he’s putting the hurt on now here we go L Bri third place oh front endless s the cruise blur nearly getting away from then off the edge of the track bro in all kinds of in all kinds of problems there is a group of three again gay leading that group Andreas and aend in there 177 baits per minute from a possible 192 for gear and that’s the difference in between the numbers one and two in the race now there’s the lead of the bike race Alan hly then Matas fluger looks like he’s on the ropes a little bit here there it is on screen the rider in red at the top now he never a did he no not in Cross Olympic I mean cr Olympic yes and thir he had a 2 second lead to that chasing group but some here yeah we be lucky got away with that one didn’t he got unclipped from the pedals just in time got off the bike tical crash to GW Gibson in the women’s race just as they were coming off the board just fold maybe just a lack of concentration just no together and that’s put him right back into the clutches of this gears group behind him and Andreas now Andreas blows past bro as does gears as does aend that’s a good move from Andre and you know that bro having just had that crash in the next descent he’s going to be a bit slow he’s going to be a bit tight so Sam gear staying out of the tag feed Zone as Simone avendo takes the lead here we go oh yeah it was just going wrong for a while and he stopped really suddenly there yeah yeah yeah it’s a hard cck on his sight you never want to see that when a Ryder hits the deck and stops there is a leader Alan hly on the number two bike for canondale factory racing chipping away at this track in Le looking really strong bar up by yeah I mean he he’s having a good time here on this course you can see is how he’s pedling he looks relaxed but going very fast well there’s more attacks going on deeper in the group GE and and it’s to cover off an attack from Simone avto s Andre is still looking strong he responds immediately when Sam G attacked here they are yeah if you speak about the French Riders I mean and L defin G is off the bike just loses the front end jumps off doesn’t seem to have cost him too much time he can yeah running now get moving again just a momentary laps of concentration there here we go in L bull roots and roll section for the penultimate time alen hly you see just super smooth yeah I hung a foot off there each R each lap yeah but if you look at the lap times of the the top 10 Riders there’s almost nothing in between these just a few seconds in the in between these ridal there is second place man m Luger a Podium for him today would bring him to a career total of 37 there’s G thirdd place so he’s made a break from this group as a big attack from Sam gears how how did you do that we haven’t seen it top right of your picture here Sam Gars goes now on the outside and just that’s the attack of him hits the blue lights the blue touch paper and goes look at the power what he’s delivering right now an unusual place to attack as well right at the top into those rocks it’s worked for him but he looks almost like he’s doing a short track race now the power heads into these famous bike park [Music] [Applause] turns but you see a just really methodical really efficient cross the line on the his final lap now for Alan hly 10 minutes away from that World Cup win again we go Luca Brio attacking up the left hand side now moves past Simon Andre and Simone aend and he’s is not that far in front of them all of a sudden has Sam G in his crosshairs G will see him and no needs to get a move on here G just needs to get to this last part of the climb now if he can get into the technical stuff and just keep bro at Bay Simon Andreas coming as well not that far off so the final lap then this on your screen is the battle for third place between Sam Gaz and Luca Brio Alan hly of C Factory RAC and has the lead it’s Matas pler sitting in second bro though bro fancies the go here moves past him bro up in third place late in the day for Santa Cruz Rock shocks pro team what a race he had he was on the third place for a long time and now slly he back again on that third place this is one of them you see sliding over these roots all three together woods and rolls Andre’s got a neat little line on the inside everyone’s going sharp right of of a big tree he just cuts around the other side of itar goes down gears off the side of the track where he had problems before and now that has allowed Brio and andreason to head up the road can gar recover yet again this weekend and let’s have a look at it OE yeah you just see him come around that off camber it’s where be like bri actually had an accident a couple of laps ago and Alan hly then heads down into the Rock section for the last time one more rock section to go and if hily wins he’ll be the first African man to win a cross country Olympic race since the late fa standard in 2012 what a result this is Alan hly takes the UC cross country Olympic World Cup winning Le a debut win for him in this format lifts the bike in the [Music] [Applause] air mat pluger heads towards the line second place today for the tumis Max and Swiss mountain bike racing team leader shakes a finger big smile for Alan hily plenty of respect between these two and now we’re going to the battle for third place Simon and andreon leads Luca Brio into the last stages of this race Brio has been so brief andreason has done so much work what’s it going to come down to andron covers off that inside line it’s going to head to a Sprint has brid gotten off in the bank to get past Andreas and he’s going to have to come from a long way no Brio sits up it’s not his today the day belongs to canondale factory racing Simon andreon home in third place celebrates with Alan hly their second XO win of the Year Luca Brio yeah I mean uh unreal weekend um yeah I mean we spoke before the race and I kind of mentioned the double and yeah I think I kind of visualized it and uh yeah I’m so happy to have executed it I mean yeah unreal weekend for myself and for the team um to have two boys on the Box in both races I mean uh yeah good sign for the team and uh especially for me leading to the games around the corner but first off man to take to UCI World Cup Podium since the late Berry standard in [Applause] 2012 in the top spot Alan harly takes the win his first cross country Olympic top step for canondale factory racing Alan harly wins in h sa Le and there we [Music] are hly Fluker Andreas bro and aent your top five today confirmation of the results then hly fluger andreasen Brio avendo G Schwarz barar Joffrey kelei to Philipe and col it Dy Alan harly then takes the lead off the cross country Olympic overall standings ahead of shter Columbo Schwarz bar G Fluker kety Bev R and suu

    1. I ride and race XC. I can understand the trend that course designers are following in the effort to make it more challenging for the riders and thus more exciting for the spectators. However, it seems they are attempting to ignore the weather as one of the design criteria. Everything is great until it rains. Then it's a sloppy, clumsy (and dangerous) mess to navigate and equally painful to watch. I'm hoping they'll soon find it prudent to reel it in just a bit before we start seeing career-ending injuries. Crans-Montana was just as bad as this one and I'm amazed nobody got seriously hurt.
