cycling supporters around the world were expecting a champagne finish to the first block of racing at this year’s totto France nobody expected a calm afternoon sipping in the sun however this was going to be very very interesting 14 gravel sectors 32 km in total the stage 200ks almost and a loop at the tour in and around the Champagne region town of TWA a first proper sustained exposure to the gravel roads in the history of the men’s tour to France one where the GC could be lost others hoping for success in turns of a stage win now before the race there was a moment of silence to remember the late Andre Dreer who was tragically killed while racing in the tour of Austria the day before Norwegian Riders visibly affected the cycling family morning when the flag was dropped and racing began on stage n of the tour attacks did not cease some huge names were at the front since the start with just over 150 km remaining the first of 14 sectors of gravel roads were hit just 20 seconds of a gap back to the yellow Jersey group for those up the road and others still trying to join a breakaway of 12 they were were Pitcock and Healey they get some help from palus and the early break of the day was established two and a half minutes almost back to the padin and there were already issues most notably for primar RIT he was distanced and he would face a big fight to get back on a couple of teammates were in and around him and as the gravel sectors came he himself would have to close the gap this time at the intermediate Sprint behind every time they went onto a sector there was an acceleration in the yellow Jersey group they got to within 35 seconds with 80 odd kilm to go and Patra himself was having a go then joined by aapo and Vore this was kicking off inle himself would try with 77 K to go the G see guys kicking lumps out of each other already would any of them regret the effort [Applause] though Bacha going with 75 K to go and theore having to follow on a bike that wasn’t his own yannik provided the spare bike even theol would be caught for a while RIT was distanced again but the Slovenian was fighting as those at the front of the race fighting to stay ahead led by Derek G they managed to just about extend their Gap again after being within 15 seconds of having been caught the break at the front split into two groups and behind other Riders wanted to join bam get mat F Paul Michael Matthews and Rasmus tiller followed by the old Wy Fox that is R kosa 22 km to go last few sectors of gravel and Pacha was at it again once more distancing Rivals this time theago and aapo were called out rogl once again at the back of a chasing group thankfully for RIT and the rest it would come back together Father Paul and Co weren’t getting closer to the leading group and with just over 10ks to go yasper sturen who hadn’t won a race on the road since winning Milano Sano went off in search of Glory ironically the last time he won in any racing was on the gravel he’s the reigning European Champion 8 to 10 seconds was his biggest Gap behind they were attacking each other would that be the end for the chasing group but no inside the final kilometer or just about Stan ran out of gas lenko was there G was going for the line Alex samburu as well Tom pitcock in the fight for the stage win but it all went to Anon Tois and toi were winners at the tour bam gay winning the Sprint for the minor places behind and extending his lead in the green jersey competition Delight though heni team from France and at the end of a pulsating stage it will be a Frenchman with the pop of a champagne cork arriving to the first rest day Anon Tois now a tour of France stage winner he beat Pitcock G adamu Healey lenko Romo Stan gmai and Matthews 4 hours 20 minutes of electric entertainment one of the greatest stages in recent memory the toour to France beautiful chaos all day long until J on top of the podium at the end of it for the general classification going into the second week it’s a 33 second lead for T Pacha aol’s in second there go third RIT surviving in fourth and one mover into the top 10 is Derek G after his brilliant day in the Breakaway Vata then still in the yellow Jersey nine stages down still playing of action to come the Tour stage 10 is what the tour of FR resumes with on Tuesday or to Santa just 1,000 MERS of climbing possible Crosswinds the terrain is perfect if it should be blowing possibly probably a Sprint 187 km will be on the menu and we sincerely hope you’ll be able to join us for what’s been a fairy tale tour so far you can catch it live and on Dem and on Eurosport and Discovery Plus [Music]

  1. Seems like many people have no clue about bike racing. Pogacar is riding with his legs and not his head…. Jonas is riding with his head and his legs. If you wanna win the Tour you have to use both just like Jonas.

  2. I thought for sure MVP was going to give this a crack. He really hasn’t been at it this tour for some reason. Did I miss something, was he injured or something in the lead up ?

  3. I'm sorry but Vingo is just annoying. Never cooperating, refusing to help anyone, never pulling a single watt for anyone or come out front.

  4. Nine stages done

Vingegaard has won 7 of the 9. Each time he ties pogacar it’s a win for v, b c he came into tour undertrained and fragile

P has 1:15 here on gravel he needed to get approx 2:45 on v, zero he got

    B c in high mtns stages 14 15 v will get approx 3 min on p

P lost tour today, on gravel

What v has done so far on such training is spectacular

  5. Loving the race this year.
Honestly, I think Pogi went out front to get out of the dust and get some fresh air.
This race has everything. A feast for cycling lovers.

  6. If I was riding I'd hate the gravel. As a fan it's really fun. Great tour so far. Too bad the Anchovy wouldn't pull when he, Remco and Pogi got away.

  7. Turgis is literally zigzagging to left and right in fatigue at the final meters. How is this not considered deviation? He could be considered blocking Pidcock

  8. visma was really amazing with those magnificent riders : Van Aert back and fort to help the front of the peleton , Jorgenson , such a powerfull rider that could manage POgacar's attack , WOW !!! , and the danish rider , after that bad and seriously crash with a short and not so good training , also managed to keep up the pace with the slovenian rider Tadej Pogacar ! Wow and WOW ! A blowing mind performance of visma lease a bike , for sure ! How are they doing such amazing races with cyclists so seriously injured ,especially in the Tour of France .All the spring till the Tour they didn't made anything at all , no noticeable achievements and crashed everywhere , no offense! I mean … this is a wonder ! Isn't it ? It doesn't matter that Pogacar won so many powerfull races and Giro this year till now , it doesn't matter that Yates , Almeida and Ayuso are such good and powerfull riders ! It doesn't matter their results !?! All that counts is that , somehow , by pure visma miracles their riders are such astonishing riders with no match in peleton !?! Is UAE so weak and disorganized ? Just make a simple comparision between this two teams :visma and UAE . What their riders has in their records ? Or , how are their standings in this year achievements ? I mean , suddenly UAE riders have a bad condition or something ? I really don't get it ?

  9. Pogi , in my humble opinion , made a bad jugment for this stage or maybe he wasn't his decision . He could have race with Remco and vingegaard till the and after they catch the brakeaway . Why ? Be cause : or they could've drop vingegaard or they could have do a battle at the end of the race and the winner would have been one of two Tadej or Remco because they have a good sprint better than the danish rider . And there is something else to add , they could have put a really nasty gap on Roglic . I think Roglic is the nemesis for Remco .😄 Well , I think this is a lesson to think about it .

  10. That was the best stages so far from one of the best first weeks of the Tour! Pogacar and Remco were racing so aggressively it made Jonas look scared. I cant wait to see what week two brings us!

  11. On paper pogacha needed to be 3 minutes far from Jonas at the end of the first week. But Jonas be able to cut 2 minutes deficit meaning visma did great job.
