The 5% uphill sprint after a lumpy day was not ideal for the traditional sprinters. We also spent a lot of time discussing tomorrows gravel stage, George is a big fan of it, Lance is doubtful that it belongs in the Tour.

get into all the action uh and there was plenty this was a lumpy day it didn’t disappoint everything we talked about yesterday the the the the undulating stage the rain came um it’s tough It’s one of those things as they say in Flemish it was a nant nant translation pain in the ass you know like a person like he’s a nant all you belgians or whatever out there listening you’re like wow how do you one skin I don’t know about you but I’m totally ready for summer here we are you know approaching halfway uh but I want it to continue the only problem is your skin gets nuked obviously more Sun out there we are at 8,000 ft right we’re out there every day whether we’re on the bikes um hanging out in town on the golf course at 8,000 ft and it’s also very dry here our skin takes a beating um but we have a solution and that is one skin their Oso sorry 01 peptide shows you that I’m not a scientist but the 01 peptide now this is the one that targets the zombie cells that causes lines wrinkles and sagging skin it’s scientifically proven to reverse Skin’s biological age at the cellular level I’m in right I’m in game changer I’m in and I don’t leave home without the sunscreen the face sunscreen and I have it on my counter for night time and the morning as well the regular face cream you have no sagging skin one skin is more than skin care it’s about skin longevity targeting the root causes of Aging to help you look and feel your best at every age start today uh get started today with 15% off using the code the move at on skin.co that’s on skin.co not.com doco and the code is the move no more saggy skin nobody wants saggy skin uh as we talked about and as we predicted yesterday tough stage uphill just enough uphill that it rules out although philipson did get second again um but it kind of rules out the pure sprinters perfect um perfect Sprint and perfect finish for gay by the way two1 the the intermediate Point Sprint Yep this guy he’s focused on that green jersey not only that he’s solidified his uh spot as one of the best brenders in the Pelon yes he won that stage arguably some of the best guys got taken out by crash gapped out they weren’t there for the finish uh Sprint today they were all there today uh of course it was a bit harder stage but he handed Le be Phillipson yeah I I don’t know if you guys remember but yesterday when we were looking at the profile George sort of muttered Geet you just said it and I don’t think he remembered it and then you looked at that profile and go look at this Sprint this is not a normal Sprint for the sprinters the way it ticked up which does does favor him the other thing that just doesn’t get talked about a lot is um and we’ve we’ve we’ve spent a lot of time talking about aana and the team to support Cavendish we’ve talked about alason and the team to support philipsson we don’t we don’t talk about gmi’s team right he his team did an excellent job they were they set it up perfectly for him if my life depended on it I couldn’t I couldn’t name one other Rider on that team straight up um but but they’re doing a hell of a job small team they got the confidence yeah they roll they got the good Le Great lead out train going probably more more of a presence than most teams we’ve seen right now if I’m alosine Phoenix I’m actually starting to getting a little nervous there’s been three three Sprint three or four Sprint stages already and they haven’t pulled off a win yet where last year they were dominating um they’re getting a little bit nervous our good friend Chad Mountain Lord Chad mountain and it’s an interesting article here this it’s a couple years old but it’s from the globe in mail I don’t I think that’s in Canada but it’s an whole article about area Tran cycling and really the Heritage there the history of it I I didn’t know any of this stuff but it’s it’s it’s fascinating and we did touch on it the other day that it was a former Italian Colony uh I didn’t know that the capital city is is 8,000 ft so high elevation apparently the roads are good uh I’m reading this article going huh sounds like we need to go to erria they have these photos of of local cycling Races by the way um cycling is the number one sport in arrea so for for uh everywhere else in the world maybe except for here in the US soccer is the number one sport in the world which I cannot understand I I I don’t get this game I don’t get it I think they’re all whiners um but uh in area tra what um cycling’s the number one sport uh now soccer was close and I read this it’s in this article it said that several years back on a on a international trip the entire national team defected so soccer is no longer that popular in arrea they just they just like we don’t like it um but it it’s it has this rich I mean when I first started tracking GMI I was like how the hell did he find his way to the European prop pelaton well because he grew up there and they have this I mean it goes back to the 30s when the Italians were there and and cycling obviously has been a part of their Heritage forever but they have these huge races and again these these they shut down the streets have local races and there’s thousands of Spectators so he didn’t there it is I think it’s amazing yeah he’s he’s going to inspire a whole country imag people going they’re sitting in front like imagine right that the today’s stage is is streaming or or being televised on every bar TV in the entire country imagine that’d be so dope sitting in one of those bars and watching I they were freaking out I mean we were doing that back in the late 90s with you we were watching in bars first thing in the morning copper tank copper tank hey another interesting thing about aat tray that Johan mentioned I think it was two years ago because we weren’t talking about gas geret so much last year you almost slipped up there is uh any I believe it’s inos that’s has a development program there and there it’s like a four fiveyear plan M to uh develop T talent and Scout Talent out there where in in Era well what what what has been and OB obviously South Africa’s had uh great professional cyclist for a long time uh they have a long list of of of really really great cyclists um and and then you had this wave of Rwanda cyclist you had some there was a a huge of course the country of Rwanda went through a ton uh brought themselves together and is really one of the crown jewels of Africa now and and Rwanda cycling was a was a big movement nobody talked about errea I mean there’s been guys but this is this is the most successful North African story for sure and and uh to to back up Rwanda they’re having the World Championships there next year which I hope to go to if my son qualifies for the world championship team in September next year yo can I go of course I would I would I would 100% go to that what seat you want to take what seat you want to sit in or you want me to try to organize wait we talking Jizzy cuz if we’re talking Jizzy let me just I will say this on I didn’t mention it to a friend to see if he was interested and he may may not be interested everybody’s everybody’s listening I don’t need my hand on a stack stack of Bibles I’m talking to everybody here you set up the Jizzy the Rwanda you in 100% right there’s a here’s a y heard here is a a the potential or fictional or theoretical whatever stack of Bibles I’m in okay that would be insane I just happen to have a JB pull out your Bible um no that’s but yes it’s it’s and I think that um I mean Rwanda has been such a great story in cycling and that’s why they they have the games I also think that that that the cycling World Championship shouldn’t always be in in Europe in Western Europe like wa it’s it should go around the world including the United States you obviously we we’re in Australia in recent years but that’s great that’s what it that’s the way it should be um another headline which I I uh we we touched on yesterday on our socials uh there was updates after the stage yesterday Julian Bernard young french guy um riding the time TR when we were we what we caught on the socials was he was riding and I just saw him like waving his arms I like what is this guy doing in his time travel like I thought he was just feeding off the crowd I thought okay that’s settle down which happens in the back of the pelaton a lot yeah but I’m like dude you’re in a time trial then then it hit me I was like oh no I think this is his hometown then he stops I’m like okay well now that’s enough but then I was like wait that’s his fan club from his hometown I get it cool his wife and child I believe as well yeah I love that I I I’ve made a mistake and saying anything now as I do every morning I get up Brew the coffee I brew the coffeee for this morning cuz I was up before George um this first morning you were up before me I go through all my websites and read my news right I hit ESPN daily B CNN check some cycling stuff a cruise around New York Times um I but I go to ESPN first right this probably the biggest Sports Outlet for news in the world uh and cycling was on the front page of espn.com right um which is great unfortunately and I’ll just let me just read do this headline this just chapped my hide we had Rimco ofle dominated the time trial one um is now won a stage in all three grand Tours moved up to Second here’s the headline on ESPN that’s not there anymore anyways it was tour to France Ryder penalized for smooching his wife or something this that was the that was so congratulations cying you’re on the cover of ESPN unfortunately it’s for a silly fine for a for a clian fraction my point and my moral of this story is the UCI what are you doing you can you not get out of your own way like that was a cool moment worse worse they they actually said it damaged the look and reputation of the tour to France I mean really I think it’s the opposite it it shows the beauty of the sport the nature of the sport the passion for it David Le Parian and all his little cronies they’re [ __ ] toned deaf all right that’s just toned deaf get stop yeah like let’s let’s think about other things let’s think about real issues let’s think about growing the sport and to issue a release it says to your point of this was damaging the image of cycling and now it’s on the front page of the biggest Sports Outlet in the world well you you got you got better stuff to do my friends agreed okay today’s show also brought to you by Ketone IQ we often hear that fasting and exercise are good for the brain hvmn launched the world’s first drinkable Ketone in 2017 Ketone IQ is their latest Innovation on ketones with better taste cost and Effectiveness Ketone IQ delivers clean fuel that can cross the blood brain barrier supplying your brain and body sustained energy focus and sharpness also uh excludes or they have a great partnership with Vis Malisa bike and uh nine out of 10 teams in this tour to France are using Ketone IQ 30% off your first subscription order plus a free six-pack when you use the link ketone /the moove that’s Ketone doccom thememove also today brought to you by eight sleep I got home yesterday I went and played a little golf yesterday I you know I there days you you see packages on the front door step and you’re like hm I got a package well I pulled up from the golf course and you cannot miss an eight sleep uh uh package this thing is huge and it was sitting on my front I was so happy I got my eight sleep here in Aspen I mean boom right on the front doorstep big box big number eight on it I was like yes this thing’s a game changer you can you can cool it you can heat it and now you can elevate it and and for all you wives and women out there because let’s be honest it’s mostly guys that snore isn’t that right I mean I don’t know any women that well that sounded bad hang on a second but it’s mostly dudes snoring but it elevates like you start snoring and and your misses or the thing knows it elevates your head my wife’s going to love this when I get home with it I tell you what um that’s new right that’s that’s part of the Pod 4 ultra and that is what landed on my front doorstep yesterday uh unbelievable adds up to one hour of quality sleep to your night’s rest think about that if you slept for seven hours what you’d do anything to make one of those hours a high quality hour that’s a game changer head on over to 8sleep.com thememove use the code the move that gets you 350 bucks off the Pod 4 ultra and they currently ship to US Canada United Kingdom Europe Australia and soon arria that’d be something guess who’s back George who our friends at the feed are back to keep us hydrated and fueled throughout the tour to France moscot now here’s the thing about the feed and I say this every year the feed has been with us for a long time yes they have I I literally kick myself that I didn’t think of the idea nor did I invest in the idea it’s an amazing idea plain and simple agreed I mean how much do you did you love uh eating the same old stuff day after day stage after stage back in the day G yeah especially this this point in torto France guys were getting sick of their new bags the same old thing every day so uh diversity is key when it comes to that no the feed is back for those who don’t know it’s the largest Online Marketplace for Sports Nutrition you can pretty much buy whatever you want yeah I love getting single Serv of everything when I get my feed box I usually get at least five different gels a couple different hyd hydration packs um just keeping it clean and fresh as always so the feed will have some pretty great deals for all 21 stages of the tour starting with their tour to France pack yep I just got mine it’s got 10 11 products some of my favorites like pillar magnesium for Sleep scratch chews all kinds of stuff now and George isn’t here’s the thing George is not great with math but instead of working out in the gym today as I was uh he took a nap on the mat and use the foam roller uh for a pillow this is true I did work out three times yesterday and so his his math is getting better but let me help you with it that’s 11 products for 21 bucks it’s about 50% off and you get the feed musette bag and a limited addition tour bottle go to the feed.com get you a nice feedback look at this musette bag and I got a bunch of new products in there as well you you want to see what I got in there cuz I just sent me a new bag okay I got me a nice bottle something’s in there too what we got in here nope nothing’s in there honey Stinger chews we got all kinds of stuff we got Morton um powder for the bottles I mean endless I got and everything’s different in there so it’s super cool yeah just like the Tour all right one other thing that uh that we have not talked about mads Peterson had to abandon we were shocked that he even continued yesterday but it’s that next day when the injuries really k can so yeah I mean sucks for him because uh today was perfect for him yeah and they they they actually interviewed wild V art before the stage uh right when they got the news he wasn’t going to start I mean just that that’s like textbook man Peterson finish um so that yeah sucks that’s not he he went down hard he went down hard and not only is he suffering from that crash but a lot of these guys have the Olympics in the back of their mind and even though they want to have successes in the Tor France the Olympics is a huge deal for pretty much everybody except for Lance um so he’s clearly wants to step back recover and get ready for the Olympics so you got to give him got to give him some credit and hope for a recovery that is an excellent point we also got a shout out abrah Hansson I mean I know the guy I know you don’t like the polka dot Jersey but the dude went solo for like almost 100 miles not only did he go solo he he got six minutes on the pelaton so what happened it actually ended up being a really tough day there was at one point five different teams chasing this one guy down you give a guy like that 6 minutes and you don’t put an allout effort to catch him you’re not going to get him you’re never going to see him again so that was a incredibly impressive ride by him you you shout out to Thor Hof who’s the GM of that team had dinner with him a few weeks ago and uh he’s putting you know he’s just really happy with that team and he’s done a great job with them I’ve never cheered for the POC D Jersey like I mean I was really rooting for that kid primarily all Scandinavian Riders as well which is not very common in our sport at all for that matter but they’re really focused on Scandinavian cycling so and that Jonas Abrams is somebody that Johan was talking about that was originally a climber at 58 kilos he’s the guy that put on 20 kilos and worked on his strength to just have this punch is that right 20 lbs or 20 kilos 20 kilos he went from 58 to 78 kilos wow w we might have to talk to him about that that’s that’s a lot speaking of but he wanted to be more of a puncher he wasn’t as good a climber as he thought Christian pointed out on TV yesterday that um vindigo lost 8 lbs since last year which no the guy was a rail last year I don’t I don’t understand how that happened I think that’s Remco that’s Remco who lost he lost two and a half k no no it was vindo cuz I texted him and said were you talking about vindo and he said yep 8 pound I don’t understand that either he must be donating organs cuz there’s nothing left I thought that was funny oh boy ask me why I’m playing this why what oh boy what are you doing look at Li Li is going off over here we can show her right now well I got to give a shout out to Colombia national team they’re playing today against Panama 400 p.m. I will be on your couch watching that and I hope all you soccer fans will be as well Columbia’s president will be there as well he’s been down in Panama recently moving on I um I read I read a lot of news um and and I I’ve caught the news that the president maybe he was down there in advance of the game I think probably that was it the reason he was in Panama uh moving right along George does not want you to look this story up but he will uh yeah y good for him uh before we talk about tomorrow which is the gnarly gravel stage which I think you have a lot of opinions on I do we have a little bit of a teaser we’re going to have a special guest on the show not just for a five minute segment not just for a day but to spend a lot of time with us and we teased it out yesterday no correct guesses so we’re going to give you a real really good clue now this is an audio message that they left and they’re on their way to Aspen as we speak see how good you guys are with your voices yoan just a little update um I now land at 820 in uh Aspen um my Visa hadn’t come through my application so uh but they put me on the next flight which is 3 hours later um but I’ve got the Visa through now I’ve checked in um so I’m all on that flight now it lands at 8:20 in um Bal Boulder Aspen rather than 5:30 hopefully not Boulder we got a long ride to the airport tonight listen this we we have been I touched on it in my social post right before uh the tour started I’m excited about this but I I I will believe it when I see it uh and and and is this not just a perfect evidence of I mean you’re clearly coming from somewhere let’s just say England right sound like an English person um which part of you doesn’t get the visa dialed like he rolls up it’s like I mean that come from England I don’t know I mean maybe there’s who knows with this one I mean there could be sounds like he might have overslept and missed his first flight I mean that’s that’s why we couldn’t say anything the only reason we’re talking about it right now is I we’re like 99% sure that he’s over water so if he if that airplane lands on this side of the water he gonna make it all right make it watch out for our socials because apparently Lance and I going to go pick them up tonight um so we’ll be posting that out yeah I got a massage so let’s not uh hope hopefully doesn’t come in during that time oh I appreciate you getting me one as well I knew that was coming I knew that when I actually asked you I said you got a good missus here yeah yeah yeah gets his own massage thanks man I appreciate it yeah ventom trivia we’re going to give away a brand new ns1 at the end of the tour what about the gravel piece we talk about that oh yeah we got to talk gravel we got to talk about jumped ahead sorry we also got a shout out this uh Arnold Del guy he’s he’s been top three top five every day today got kind of squeezed in he was coming quick the team has got full confidence in him it is pretty uh sorry my son’s FaceTiming me right now um it’s just exciting to watch such a young guy and also Bingham gmet is only 24 years old as you pointed out JB I mean these young guys are winning everything these days y yep uh so tomorrow we will do the trivia but let’s tomorrow’s such a such it’s a unique he uh first of all it starts and finishes in the same place so Alan will have a very easy job tomorrow uh 200 km not flat lumpy but if you’re looking if you’re watching the show or if you can find this online to me they almost have this laid out like Perry Reet so you obviously have the climbs categorized you have the Sprint bonuses uh uh designated but then you see the brown icons right so the this is a gravel stage so this is laid out like uh it looks to me like ASO or the tour is calling these sectors right so you got 14 13 so there’s 14 sectors or sections of gravel right um and and the last of which is really not far from the finish I mean you have four of these sections there’s a lot of gravel now uh I don’t know how I feel about this uh I get it I get it I get the gravel is is is the pretty girl at the prom is the bright shiny object it’s what everybody in industry is Raging about um uh I I I don’t think it I don’t think it belongs in the Tour of France right just because listen mountain biking was all the rage 20 years ago did did did did they come along and say well we should probably have one day where there’s a mountain bike no I don’t I don’t know I I you were you were the same way about the cobbles and you fortunately had guys like me that could Shepherd you along these Cobblestone sections but I like it I think it’s going to be exciting of course you like it I think it’s going be dynamic um it’s going to be very hard to predict like pogar said in his interview maybe not the toughest stage not going to make him win the Tour of France could certainly make one of these guys lose the Tour of France um it’s going to be very exciting day I don’t think it belongs in the tour are you expecting strong out can I just I let me just be very clear I love love riding gravel like if I had a choice I would first pick my mountain bike secondly I would pick my gravel bike and then I would ride the road third I love it it just doesn’t belong on the tour not like this this is not uh just because it’s the hip cool thing no I disagree now um that’s from a sporting perspective now as a fan sitting back like am I going to be entertained by this and curious and and stressed that somebody’s to your point in the pre-show JB I mean somebody could lose the T of France on a day like this is that interesting to sit back and watch yeah I just think from a sporting and a historic on a traditional standpoint it doesn’t belong not like this 14 sectors I like it I we’re going to see some big big guns going for tomorrow vle these guys that are really good at bik bike handling are going to be out there uh really hitting it on those sections and can I say just say one other little thing I 100% reserve my right to change my mind like let me get through tomorrow I may be like you this is the [ __ ] coolest thing I’ve ever seen I can’t believe it took so long to have it in I sitting here today I’m like I don’t think so I I got to think it favors somebody like pagar with a strong team to stay around him because with gravel it tends to just be strung out Carnage well you saw what he did in Str Bianca he just basically rode away from everybody with 40 miles to go this is the tour to France a little bit different but he’s not scared of the cobblestones he’s got um a good team behind him but there’s some really good Specialists out there Tom pitock vandero that they look at these sections and you’ll see the differences they’ll make in the corners in the gravel and they’ll basically be flying around people without even trying because even though everybody at this level at the Tor of France is extremely good by at bike handling a lot of these guys are lost on the dirt and they have no idea how to take these Corners so for me in particular I’m going to be super excited to be watching these guys that have a cycle cross background that have the classics background those are the guys I feel like we will see Excel tomorrow yeah wild vanart uh I I did have a question and I think you have an answer George about uh Tire choices yep CU this is uh for those at home who sit around and just think about tires I’m sorry but uh this is this is important right uh and we know the the the tire game in procycling has drastically changed in the last 5 10 years right wider Tires Lower pressure tubless etc etc um I was curious about uh you can’t just ride your normal Road tire with even perhaps tire pressure what what uh what are your sources saying for tire choices tomorrow Whitey uh rod in they’re using the same exact equipment as they did in strata Bianca which is 30 mil tires um they got bling Matthews who’s I’m a huge fan of and I think he’s got a great shot tomorrow very good technically very strong very powerful with these short you know 4 km climbs and gravel sections right after them uh so they they got a good shot tomorrow for the win by the way let’s not forget it also rained a bunch all over Europe today sup and tomorrow is supposed to be cloudy so it’s not going to it’s not like here when it rains in ASP and it dries up like hours later I think it’s going to be a lot still a lot of Muddy sections that uh will make it even harder for those guys if it’s wet do you think we might you see it sometimes at like Unbound or those kind of races where it just gets Caked Up and they have to stop and scrape it off and and but in those races they have stations where they can rinse off their bikes like it’s it’s very not that many not that many I mean I think that’s the point of Unbound look at me talking about it like I’ve been there I don’t know but uh uh it we and we also don’t need to get into the sort of the science the chemistry of of mud or dirt or gravel but there are different types of dirt right so if it’s Clay based it is a disaster right you just can’t get that out of chains and derailers and and chain stays it’s just such a mess and and you know the other thing it is when that stuff starts getting caked on people don’t think about this but if your bike ever gets caked with mud like that get off and pick it up yeah it is heavy mhm it is heavy is heavy I don’t think the gravel will be or be quite like that like it is I’m down but one thing uh to point out which Lance a lot of the mechanics will agree with you cuz Samar is a logistic the mechanics and a director Samar is a logistical nightmare because not only do they got to go in today change all the equipment for tomorrow stage they got to place all they’ll probably bring in staff from all from all over Europe because they got to place their staff on all the different sections with spare Wheels they got to plan out their feed zones a lot of just like they do in rub yeah most of these teams now they don’t even have feed zones anymore I don’t know if you know that they have planned uh feed feed stops where they send their staff and they tell the Riders they’re going to be there at kilm 80 they’re going to be there at kilm 120 they don’t even have feed zones anymore and if one of these Riders misses their feedback their nutrition is so precise that their day is potentially screwed because they’re like [ __ ] I just missed my 400 calorie bottle and I needed that and I was planning on having that for the next 50 kmers I missed it I’m screwed so the feed zones nowadays are just pretty much as important as anything else and they’re sitting down right now they probably planned it a while but everything is U completely planned out to the te in terms of feed zones and spare equipment for these Riders tomorrow well two things one uh I did not know that yeah I just assumed there were feed zones I guess if you watch the race you don’t see it much anymore so I didn’t know that uh number two I just want to go back to Michael Matthews I do think he’s a good uh one of the good picks for the stage uh and he watches our show watches the show and if he’s if he’s watching or listening right now let me just tell you something all right and this is a message to all you kids out there uh when when you’re out with your buddies and you’re figuring out what your nickname is right boy you be dropping to your knees and praying that your friends give you the nickname bling yeah cuz that’s a dope nickname the dopest I mean you want to have you want to be seen as cool and your friends I mean if one of them even mentions I’m going to call you bling so yeah that that’ll still I’m okay with that yeah you don’t even have to win with have a name like that R roll up my name is bling I mean that’s it I mean it’s over it’s over seeing the douches with a name like that y for real I me it could be so much worse I don’t know [ __ ] we’re pulling for bling tomorrow let’s go and probably a good day to listen to outcomes and get Johan and Spencer’s take on yeah I’m I’m going to listen to that too because tomorrow is a very tough stage to predict well vanart vanart vanol actually Van’s dad was on the show or not on our show on uh on peacock today talking about how we kind of had a slow start and he feels like he’s getting better every day and tomorrow is just his favorite type of terrain I would guess well here’s the thing right so you look at if in so many we have we have done this so many times has compared this rivalry between vanart and Vanderpool right we’ve been talking about this for years it is a true rivalry right on one hand you got van art he he’s still thinking he’s got a GC racehorse in in uh bagard right so but if you go across the aisle and you look at Vanderpool this is a team that is really dis alpus and dun right this is a team that’s just been disappointment after disappointment in terms of stages they and you’ve seen it we’ve seen the clips of uh philipson at the finish so might they say okay this the Sprint game hasn’t worked for us MVP why don’t you go for it is a perfect day for him if he is getting better riding in the tour I mean I mean that takes a lot of pressure off that team get go get a stage win with the best Classics rider in the world and and then we’ll figure out the Sprints let’s not forget philipson is no Panic cooking when it comes to the classic type races as well he’s gotten second place at rub I mean the guy’s a a beast in this type of terrain as well so if he gets there uh this could be his first stage win as well and and by the way ban and gmet is no Panic hooking either correct guy won’t get web guy can ride the cobbles guy can get in you know fine position be in the right position at the right time don’t forget about him yep love this you know what now I’m kind of talking myself into the gravel thing I’m like this I is that [ __ ] up or what all right I just told everybody this is the dumbest idea ever in which does not belong and I and if I’m and if I’m man if I’m being honest like we’re in therapy here I don’t know I’m kind of excited you’re excited and and typically that sort of profile I don’t know if we’re going to pull it up is would be um indicate a breakaway super lumpy hard you know after hard weeks of RA of racing but what’s going to happen even if there is a Breakaway in those first 25 km all the teams behind are going to be fighting for pos position so fast that they’re going to be going 30 40 mph before these sections that’s going to really limit the time a breakaway can get before those uh sections but on the flip side of that very difficult to organize right look at all the sections and the little Punchy Hills in there tough to get a team together and and get organized and Chase over these wa excuse me why are you saying that you had the best team in the world to get organized we would would stay organized stay the front the good teams would be able to get organized there was the only one blue train right and I’m not the only one who thinks that there’s a lot of I don’t I don’t I might risk getting a fine from the UCI 100 Swiss Franks who gives a [ __ ] be on the cover of ESPN let’s do it all right now we’re not on peacock I’ve said a lot of f wordss today yeah okay when we are we back tomorrow on peacock I think I don’t know bka or Gabriel when are we back go on I don’t know somebody knows Gabriel knows he always shouts it out what’s stage number I don’t think it’s nine stage 11 stage 11 stage 11 okay gotta all right so you got three more days of he’s still he’s still mad that uh Columbia B Costa Rica so he’s kind of laying low back [Laughter] there yes uh yesterday yesterday’s question was was a tricky one what was the bike brand and model at Lance Road during his two time trial wins in the 1999 tour uh that was the light speed blade it was the blade I knew it was the blade I could add to that story as well yeah please do one I went and visited the factory in Chattanooga Tennessee U because we have one of our grand fundos there and they showed us the design when they were designing that bike for Bobby julick and then they realized apparently somebody from On LAN team wrote in that we want to try this bike blah blah blah and Bobby got put on standby and the bike went to Lance so Bobby’s still a little bit of upset about that Bobby went with me to the factory and told me that story which I didn’t know I thought it was kind of funny Bobby’s got a long list with me I mean that’s I that might be number 11 I hate Lance list like that that put it on the list [ __ ] it he he doesn’t hate you H know he doesn’t I love him he’s he’s such a nerd though I love that though he’s so nerdy he’s coming to Aspen soon you told me and and I’m I’m we’re all on the tree we’re in the TR therapy tree y I’m excited to see him yep the therapy tree get the CL got the clean hang on anybody wants to start getting real emotional here I got a box of kleenexes for you uh Bob’s coaching my son by the way yeah well you know what tell him to keep doing it cuz it’s working we’re all going to Raa uh well as assuming there’s a Jizzy involved I will be going to Randa uh but yeah that’d be um that’d be I was going to say one other thing though on this uh ah [ __ ] you got me oh the bike yeah no so we we we got this sloppy bike maker back in day and and I’m like I think I’m I’m going get Podium with tour friends and they roll up with the bike their time trial bike that they expected us to ride I said absolutely not I am not riding that that’s that that cannot win the Tour FRS so that was the reason that we called these Hillbillies down there in chanuka yeah and um it was a good bike it was light speed blade yeah yeah it’s great and I’m sorry for taking yours Bobby is that bike do one of the does that bike exist anywhere great question that is a great question that’s cuz that’s a I mean of collectors that’s a good one there were two um I’d have to go back Dave is Dave is commenting it’s it m joh which Dave back me up I I I think there were two and I I don’t look I don’t remember any of this stuff I just know I won that’s it um but I believe the first time Char the prologue I wrote you could tell it was a titanium bike and then said uh bike sponsor of the team were like oh no no no no everybody can tell that’s not our bike I’m like no [ __ ] uh so then we painted one and so then later in uh am I making that up Dave no nope okay good because uh as I’ve learned um I’m bringing these tissues back as I have learned through hours and hours weeks and weeks months and months of therapy uh one of the things I’ve learned is memory is malleable so that’s why I uh I can’t tell exactly but I I’ve been it’s been confirmed one was titanium looking and the other was painted all right today that was a long answer to get to today’s trivia no today’s question uh and you’ll have to do some research on this one probably in this room you’re probably the only one that knows Lance uh what was Lance’s fastest marathon time and bonus for race name and year all right go to ventom racing that there two that were close uh how not know your fastest marathon time who gives a [ __ ] you get out you get 230th in the marathon who who cares what your time like if I would have broken the world record I’d have remembered it I was just out trying to run you know I did do one of those uh with Cam hannes he came in it might have been the one that that wins the the trivia question but Cameron Haynes who’s now one of the biggest podcasters in the world fantastic guy I did his he was in Austin some months ago and I did I went out did a 5k with him uh benefit he does but he crossed the Finish Line with me I I won’t say where but uh and by the way nobody in the [ __ ] world knew who cam Haynes was I’m just saying he crossed the pench line with me and now he’s I mean he’s up there with Rogan I mean he’s the dude’s huge so that might be the one ventom racing.com thememove to send in your or your answer for the trivia question okay and oh wait I do have a couple of good question I feel like George was about to say something go no I wasn’t never mind all right couple quick questions here I will I need one we see in most other professional sports basketball football Etc that there is a lot of trash talking amongst the Riders during a stage if so who was or is the biggest trash talker and can we get them miked up for the rest of the tour that’s from Stephen and Magnolia Texas yeah I actually wouldn’t I’d say there there isn’t that much trash talking because this is so many different languages in the pelaton and a lot of things get lost in translation there’s tons of trash talking amongst recreational cyclists like Lance and I and all the local group rides um but in the Tor France Paton I wouldn’t think I wouldn’t think there was that much at least there wasn’t back in our day a good person to ask that question uh would be assuming they arrive would be our special guest I have a feeling he would have an interesting answer and perspective on that question so we might Park that one for a day by the way even if he IES in Aspen today that doesn’t mean he will be here tomorrow cuz we’re not sure if they will be ready this is I say we throw once they show up we’ll just slip an air tag in his pocket when he gets here believe it’s not a bad I as much as I know it’s not a bad idea right uh here’s another question real quick from Tim uh pogy looks great and UAE brought all the big guns for this tour my question is are their days of are the days of teams working together gone for good these is not as strong because of injuries Bora really only has Vaz off to help Primos Remco only has Landa other than letting UAE run away with the thing could other teams reach some kind of Alliance to break it up that’s from Tim and Virginia good question it’s an excellent question and I don’t want to uh defer another question but Johan would have an would have the answer on this if if I were to attempt to answer this just from my uh you know where I sit um and not having really any um s forces inside the sport just as a spectator I think there is a lot less of that a lot less of that sort of back room hey help me today I’ll help you tomorrow or help me tomorrow and I owe you ones like I I think I could be wrong but it it just by watching I think there’s a lot less of that than I mean look if we go back to our day and age I mean they weren’t just handshake deals I mean you ask George yeah well that’s we could how much in a um in a stage like tomorrow he doesn’t like talking about if advantages line up there there’s going to be natural alliances happening even if they’re not pre-planned but uh instantly the directors in the back will be talking like yo so and so is off the back let’s go let’s get together and then see what happens or even the Riders the team captains will make those calls so even if it might not be pre-planned or pred discussed it can certainly happen throughout the day yeah yeah you that’s a maybe on JB squared you can ask he he will know exactly okay uh if you have a question for a future show just send it in the move at we do. team and uh maybe a special guest coming up and tomorrow posted I’m so excited about this crap uh anyways we’ll see you’re so excited that you threatened to replace me for for a minute that’s kind of you know little scary but about what when did I do about our guest coming in I’m kidding you said something the other day but it kind of pissed me off so anyway moving on all right well hey you know what on that note kind of piss me off on that note I can I’m going to go get shammed up and go for a ride with this man and now now we now I’ve pissed him off and so I can’t wait I mean we know how this ends the old man going to get his ass whooped but uh you got to get in line behind Bobby apparently yep that’s right yeah I’ll be your your Whipping Boy today all right thanks for tuning in see y’all tomorrow [Music] [Applause] [Music]

    1. Was thinking, "Wow. What an incredible moment.
So awesome they captured it. Will probably live forever in sports history."

How often does a cyclist do an individual time trial THROUGH HIS HOME TOWN?

Completely agree with LA. Absolutely tone deaf to fine this guy for stopping to kiss his wife while she holds their child.

    2. Hey guys, thank you for starting this podcast, dedicated to cycling around the world, as an African and cyclomeniac, I’m so proud of Biniam Girmay. Lots of people don’t know this, but biking is such big part of lots of African countries, across the continent as an everyday transportation from
Generation through generation. If you travel to some African countries, it’s very usuel to see women with baby on their back and a load of wood on their head riding a bikes… and wanted to point out that Ethiopia (Eritrea) is the only country in Africa that was not colonized

    3. I remember watching the Giro years ago when the entire peloton stopped in a town where one of the riders was from to eat pastries made by his family. Such a cool thing to happen.

    5. Everybody knows that as soon as you agree to a nickname that your friends want to give you or in the slightest way You hint that you like a name. Then you have guaranteed. That won't be your nickname, and we all know that you have to play it very carefully and act like you hate it.
      LMFAO 😆

    6. Why do they have “Gravel Stages”? You wouldn’t take a high performance road car down a gravel road… Nevermind without an engine air filter. You have guys that are tuned to perfection on rigorous diets just sucking in all that dust! I don’t get it. Erik

    7. Lance was like a God in Eritrea , you were the God of Eritrean cycling fans . It was a time where your name and poster was all over Eritrean cities . The day you land in Eritrea the government will be required to let people free from work because the city will be locked up to see your face . Many people have the face Pantani and many other greats . Eritrea is the best place to trace back the cycling greats .

    8. Really lance. Hillbillies? C’mon man. I’m from the south and proudly east of the Mississippi. We all know Texans have wicked pride albeit unwarranted. Proud rednecks

    9. The great Lance Armstrong talking about Eritrea. We all watched you growing up and you would be amazed at what cycling means to a lot of people in Eritrea. Go to Eritrea and watch Sunday local races! You won't regret it!!

    10. Hey guys, Have been following the Tour for 25 yrs and is it my imagination? I don’t see feeding stations with bags. I remember the days of sandwiches and cans of coca cola?
Has the nourishment just gotten more sophisticated?
      Never miss a pod…
