this is Renee and Tom and I are on the ultimate World cruise and we just stocked in Corsica France join us on an unforgettable and hilarious self-led Bike Tour once we were cleared to leave the ship we got our handy dandy map out and went the wrong direction to find the bike shop for about a mile we got to the bike shop 20 minutes late climbing up these steps we thought for sure we’d have to bring our bike back down them but we didn’t they were waiting around the back for us [Music] the bike shop told us to go around these metal barriers but this guy had other opinions and started yelling at us which we didn’t understand because it was in French so we took his advice and turned [Music] around we regrouped and tried it again and as we turn the corner this is where my GoPro dies we biked for 11 miles but I’m only going to be able to show you about half of that and that would be at the point when we turned around to go back to the bike shop so as we’re heading back to the bike shop I’ll tell you a little bit about Corsica France and of course the additional mishaps that happened along the way corica has a fascinating and turbulent history marked by various phases of occupation and resistance the island has been inhabited since prehistoric times the Greeks established a colony around 5 65 BC the Romans annexed Corsica in 237 BC integrating it into the Roman Empire eventually it came under the control of the republics of Pisa and Genoa there was a Revolt in the 18th century and France purchased Cora in 1768 the island was integrated into the kingdom of France in 1769 Napoleon bonapart was perhaps the most famous Croatian he was born in 1769 and went on to became the Emperor of France the ride back looks like it’s going smooth until there’s construction and we can no longer ride on the sidewalk so we turn around we decide hey there’s a cemetery there let’s cut across go back left and up a road to see if we can go inside just a small side Adventure in Corsica cemeteries are often featured above ground tombs and mums reflecting the Island’s unique culture and historical practices the practice for using above ground tombs is partly due to the Island’s climate which can be harsh and humid the above ground burials help preserve the Integrity of the remains so we go up and up and up this road right into a dead end at this point we turn around again and decide we’re just going to head back to the bike shop because what else could go wrong it was however a beautiful day for a bike ride with the ocean to our right so you’ve been watching us ride for a while and we did stop for a quick restroom break however I didn’t know that I forgot to put my kickstand up when I took off as we pull up to the construction area a construction worker starts yelling at me to put my kickstand up in French which I did not understand I finally figured it out only to have Tom getting yelled at by the other people that we shouldn’t be on this sidewalk because it’s not a bike sidewalk and they refuse to move of course they were yelling at us in French and we did not understand that either however the sidewalk was clearly marked biking in pedestrians we finally got through but they continued to chirp at us about we should not be on this sidewalk well at least that’s what we think I went ahead and took the lead and Tom said to make a right and that’s what I did because there’s a really nice sidewalk that I can see up ahead but there’s steps now not a bike path the guy was right it eventually turns into a bike path and we again have beautiful views and then the bike path disappears and I’m thinking oh if I go right I can cut through here and get to the sidewalk quicker it’s a dead end so we turn around [Music] again as we get closer into town the sidewalk gets busier and busier we stop long enough to take a picture of the fort that was built between 1492 and 1789 oh look we’re at the Port but we’re not stopping because we have to go another mile past the port to drop off the [Music] [Music] bikes and we ride right on by the entrance where we need to drop off the bikes so we have to take the bikes down the [Music] steps and around the [Music] back after riding 11 mil and walking 5 Mi we see this building cuz it’s all about location location location we’re back in time for a special 4th of July dinner after dinner we enjoyed an amazing show by by the shadow hand puppet master something do you want to make him happy and of course he’s not finish [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] B fire [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] are living for today [Music] [Applause] [Music] I good [Music] [Music] [Music] uh-huh I like it uhh uh-h that’s the way uh-h the way- uh-h I like it [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] I make a brand new start [Music] and then next we celebrated the 4th of July with the balloon [Music] drop what train did she take midn [Music] [Music] home of bra [Applause] 3 2 [Applause] [Music] [Applause] 1 people started taking the balloons off the rails and popping them as well happy 4th of July here’s our itinerary for the next four ports make sure to like subscribe and ring that Bell for more Adventures from every corner of the globe see you at the next port [Music] [Music]

May I ask some questions?
I recall you buy toiletries, but doesn't the ship provide those? Or not on long cruises?
Wow your nice Bike ride turned out to be a BMX adventure going down steps and off road. Happy 4th.
Don’t you love the friendly people in France
Loves like a loverly bike 🚲 ride

Yeah, if Corsica is welcoming tourists to their island, they need to step up and provide a booklet of maps of important information for tourists
such as: a map that includes
bicycle paths, walking paths
sight, and sites important to see, where are the toilets food outlets etc
and the bike shop needs to step up too
to provide a leaflet of the best bike track, paths on island for tourists and have them available on your bike for you
also when booking bikes you should have been told the location for pick up and also for return
and also to provide tourist marker signs through town, so you know where you are
in French and English would be best.
Thank you for the evening show on the ship it was incredible
and
thankyou
for the special American Day Show
