We found this old German (Pre-)WW2 bicycle in the basement of an old Bavarian country house and now we’re bringing it back to the road again.
This video idea came to us in the middle of the restoration process – that’s why part 0, 1 and 2 are very short and just for demonstration purposes.

  1. Nice resto. Good job – 1 observation – seems like you put the chain master link clip the wrong way around. The open end should be facing to the rear when on the driving or top side of the chain.

  2. Elegant gemacht! Zwei Fragen: Warum hast du die Kugellager gewechselt und wozu dient der Gummiring auf der linken Seite des Lenkers?

Elegantly done! Two questions: Why did you change the ball bearings and what is the purpose of the rubber ring on the left side of the handlebar?

  3. What an authentic restoration. The pedals – mind-blowing simple engineering built with permanence in mind. MASSIVE, thoroughly thought out, simple, durablity in a bicycle. Leave it to the Germans – champions of conveying utility, simplicity, affordability, durability and elegance through sound engineering in everything they do. The only thing – the brakes: not at all convincing, but that allows for uninterrupted forward progress, I suppose.

  4. That's amazing! More of a conservation than a restoration. The patina on this bicycle can never be duplicated. What you did adds value to this already stunning and rare bike. The only change I would've made would be to find period correct pedals. Congrats.

  5. Скажите что за красная зубчатая штуковина , которую Вы надели на левую сторону руля ? С уважением.

  6. Does anyone know what the red rubber on the handlebar is for? And the screw and band in the frame. Is it for stiffen up the steering so it doesn't wobble at high speeds?

  8. Hi 🙂 Great restoration keeping the patina and sharp!

Would you recommend to clean the bike frame with soap and water between the graphite paste and the wax? Or just use a dry cloth? 🙂

  9. I have NEVER seen a high-low beam headlight on a bicycle! Many other features are quite advanced compared with equivalent British bicycles of the day. For instance the handlebar stem tensioner and the chain tensioner. The attention to detail that went into making this bike is pretty incredible.
    Brilliant restoration. Thank you. 👍
