Join us on an unforgettable and chaotic day in Cannes, France! Our e-bike tour through this beautiful city took some unexpected turns, including a scooter incident that caused one biker to fall and another to break her leg. After dealing with the aftermath, Tom and I ventured on a walking tour to the historic Castle of Marie de Cannes. We ended our day getting lost on our way back to the tender! hello this is Renee and Tom and I are on the ultimate World cruise we just anchored in can’s France and tendered to shore we are about to set off on an exciting ebike ride through the city and let’s see what Adventure awaits us because you know we’re going to have some our ride starts off smoothly through the city streets except for the camera angle that my GoPro has on my left shoulder our guide stopped several times for us to take some Scenic pictures H has a rich and varied history it began as a quiet fishing Village and then was later settled by the Romans during the medieval period cans was fortified to protect against the Pirates in the 19th century can transformed into a fashionable Resort town can is now famous for its annual Film Festival luxury hotels and beautiful scenery as we ride further and further up the hill Tom’s single speed bike will not power up the hill you’ll notice I’m only holding my bike with my left hand my right hand is holding his elbow and I’m helping him up the hills probably not the safest thing to do we did that all the way to the top of the hill once we got to the top we had beautiful scenery time to head back down you had to ride your brakes almost the whole way down it was so steep so far so good no one is having any issues on the way down [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] as we get back into town it gets a little congested our fellow bikers was riding along mining his own business when a scooter zoomed by and purposely knocked him down his knees and elbows were banged up but he was okay [Music] Less Than 3 minutes later his wife fell off her bike and broke her fibula and tibula an ambulance was immediately dispatched and took her to the emergency room her husband rode with her in the ambulance which left two empty bikes to take back to the bike shop we waited for someone else from the bike shop to help pick up the second bike this all happened less than 5 minutes from the bike shop we did find out later the couple did return to the ship in time before we left she will need surgery when she gets back to the [Music] states after dropping off our bikes Tom and I walked a half mile to get some lunch at the local Cuisine from there we went on a walk tour to the castle you would assume we know where we’re [Music] going somehow we walked into the back door of the castle and not the front the castle was originally constructed in the 11th century by monks who sought Refuge from invasions throughout the medieval period the castle was a central defensive structure its strategic position on the hilltop provided a vantage point to Monitor and defend against potential Invaders the castle suffered damage at the end of the 16th century and was partially demolished in the 18th century despite this it retained its historical importance and Architectural Grandeur in 1919 the municipality of cans acquired the castle and converted in into a museum once again we’re going to be walking up a lot of steps to the top of this Tower as we climb to the top the steps continue to [Music] narrow that structure just doesn’t look safe but we’re going to go on up it was 109 steps to get to the top of this medieval [Music] structure the views are here were simply amazing this is the door we came out of and it’s time to go back down and 109 steps [Music] down we continue to walk through the museum and in several areas no pictures were allowed [Music] [Music] [Music] we exited the castle into the gardens [Music] we continued our walking tour through cans and of course we’re going to get lost [Music] nope we shouldn’t be going up this sidewalk we have to turn around we finally make it to the tender to get back to the ship what a day from ebike Adventures to Castle tours and a few mishaps along the way here’s our itinerary for the next four ports make sure to like subscribe and ring that Bell for more Adventures from every corner of the Globe see you at the next port [Music] [Music]
