[Music] the weather had changed at the toour of hor and we were heading into a day that could have been for the sprinters maybe the Breakaway Riders and one to test the GC Riders if the wind was blowing nerves were bound pressure was on for those who hadn’t won yet those who wanted to preserve what they’ gained or saved in the time trial were out there and ready to go all in wet wether gear as well as the rain poured at the start start in sum on heading to final resting place of the late General D 183.2 km 2 and a 12,000 M to climb and plenty of ups and downs throughout the day with the wind for the most part blowing across the road stage eight of the tour saw a brand new GC the order of the top three was the same outside of that rogl had moved up to Fourth and the difference between first and second was now down to 33 seconds today pachar in yellow but eveno having won the time trial the day before getting closer several Riders got close to three up the road in the first few pedal strokes palus and a teammate Biser of EF education easy post joined by yonis Abramson they very quickly had two and a half minutes behind though EF was still up to no good they really wanted to attack the race and it was a pleasure to watch Alberto betol trying to lead out Ben Healey up the road two mates still waiting and Abramson adding to his King of the mountains lead hey vills bodor and the rest Williams tried to be involved but would they be able to get across still over a minute to close here with around 30 km there were a few splits developing behind some of the sprinters were already losing contact but losing contact at the front of the race were palus and his mate biger they sat up and very soon it was 5 minutes the Gap to the Solitary Man up the road who remained Abramson a full 20 points in the intermediate Sprint went to him and then a perfectly engineered intermediate Sprint from Anto Mar taking first and second and denying extra points to those chasing them behind bam gay was really in the box seat into the final 70 km still over 5 minutes at this point for yonas Abramson would he make it there’d be a few crashes and niggly moments behind War baril involved in this one a split that needed repairing but that would be stitched together a little further up the road good news for mat F PA and the rest C out inside 60 km to go tributes to General de and at the front well inside the final 25ks after hard work from several teams it was better news for the Chasers they were about to catch yonas AB Bramson several bigname Riders being dropped including Michael Matthews and the Norwegian in the polka dot Jersey who has enough points to stay there till at least Wednesday now would be caught after a sterling effort with 14 km to go so to the final few kilometers not everybody involved movements crashes comings together it will be a nervous one uphill in the final kilometer as well all about having the legs and timing that Sprint right Brian Kar was being led out by kufus who hadn’t won a bunch Sprint at the tour since 2006 there are opportunities too with mesg trying to be up there for jar Lula looking around with nobody to lead out aramburu was in the mix but there as well as Al Lee you could see waiting yasper Philipa this though was a perfect finish on paper at least for bam gmai he followed the wheels he did everything right once more Brian kukar The Chosen wheel to follow and when it got to inside 200 M to go he still waited 150 to go then that’s where he went in the green jersey at the front under pressure all the way from the Lee and from philipsson with Akerman challenging nobody could lay a finger on binyam germai a second victory in this first tour to France week and overall control in the green jersey competition bie bringing his best again and and Mar on cloud n celebration for Ander Mar and Binum Gite and in the car they knew they’d done it again it’s a nervous stage not everybody there to contest the Sprint but those who did were taught a lesson Once More by the aat trayan [Music] Superstar this is gmi’s moment a second stage win at this tour and the green jersey a very comfortable fit gay philipson and the Lee with aan fonberg in the top five Gibbons Tois right aramburu and eveno sneaking into the top 10 [Music] stage eight to gay another day on the podium and another day in the green [Music] jersey the standings looking brilliant for him now very very tough to see a challenge being mounted without that a couple of stage wins for somebody [Music] else and in the yellow Jersey competition the torto France is still led by T gachard going into the gravel stage on day nine it’s 33 seconds over aapol just over a minute back two [Music] fing to 199 km a day in Champagne but he’ll be popping the corks they’ll be hoping the tires won’t be popping 14 graveled sectors to take on this is a really tough day one that’s been Recon checked but they’ve got to perform on the day a champagne finish to the opening week and it takes place in you’ll be able to see it live and On Demand on Eurosport and Discovery Plus

  1. BINIAM GHIRMAY POEM
In the heart of the Tour, where courage meets speed, Biniam Ghirmay rides, a champion indeed. From Eritrea's 🇪🇷🇪🇷🇪🇷 proud land, he takes his stand, Two stages claimed, history in hand.

First African rider, in Tour's grand embrace, Green jersey leader, his skill leaves a trace. Intermarché Wanty, their teamwork true, Guides him to victory, amidst the Tour's blue.

But beyond the podium, in Eritrea's cheer, Fans' love and support, ever sincere. From Asmara's streets to hills afar, Their chants lift him, beneath cycling's star.

For each win, a tribute to families' strive, Eritrea 🇪🇷🇪🇷🇪🇷 beams, where dreams revive. Giro d'Italia, Gent-Wevelgem's thrill, In every pedal, his prowess spills.

Biniam Ghirmay, ride on with pride, In your journey's tale, Eritrea's guide. A hero on wheels, from Africa's shore, Inspiring triumphs, forevermore.

  2. Second time the editors purposefully cut out Bini. Only putting white riders there on the main caption. Why ? It is a choice not a chance ? Bini won right ? Or is it just me

  3. But it's Biniam Germay who deviated from his line now, he practically moved from the left barrier all the way to the right. But it's ok as long as nobody got boxed in behind? I'm not trying to defend Philpsen here, but sprinters don't have eyes on their backs, once they go they go. Both of them should have looked behind before doing their deviating moves, like experienced rides they should be.
