so you want to move to Australia let me guess you have a ton of questions but no one to answer them let me be of assistance hi my name is Dane I am from the UK and I moved to Australia on a working holiday Visa nearly 2 years ago I cannot believe I’ve been in Australia for nearly 2 years side note I have to leave soon if you’ve been following me for a while you know that I post videos all about how to move to Australia I’ve covered this topic in so many videos which I’ll link somewhere around here I also share videos on on the best places to go and invite you guys on my adventures with me living in Australia for 2 years as an expat gives you a certain amount of knowledge because when I landed here I knew zero I knew nothing I didn’t know how to sell my taxes I didn’t know which is the best mobile provided to go I don’t know how to get a job although I have heaps of videos on this content I still get asked hundreds of questions because it’s just impossible to answer all of them this is why I came up with my ebook your ultimate guide to moving to Australia on a working holiday be so I will link this down below thank you to those who have purchased the book already I really hope you found it useful there is over 100 pages of Juicy insights sharing with you how to get a job what you need to prepare how much money you should save I cover everything or as much as I possibly can cover because I get so many questions I thought I would do a Q&A for you guys just answering some of the most common questions I get around moving to Australia so I’ve got my laptop here let’s just get straight into it question number one is it really as expensive as everyone says it is this is a simple answer yes Australia is expensive however I feel like the wages are so much higher that although you pay more for things like rent and food you don’t actually notice it too much because you get paid a lot better and I haven’t lived in the UK for 3 years now but from what I get told by my friends and family it actually sounds like it’s more expensive to live in the UK most of my friends they pay more on their rent rent bills even petrol whereas I pay a lot less for those and I live a better quality of life where’s the most underrated place you’ve been in Australia so this is a very difficult question to answer because I’ve SE so much of this beautiful country but I have to say the Kimberly region which is in the northwest of Australia I recently went there in September and it had the most amazing time it was one of those destinations where it was very r remote off- grid I was camping every night but the things that my eyes saw were just incredible so if you ever get the chance to go to the Kimberly question number three is it possible to save enough to travel this will depend on two things firstly what kind of Lifestyle are you living and secondly are you spending a lot of money so it’s definitely possible to save a lot of money you hear about these Backpackers they go and work in these Regional or remote areas and they save a ton of cash it’s definitely possible I not one of those people the way that I’ve been on my working holiday VI is I generally worked for a few months and then traveled for a few months and just the cycle has repeated so I haven’t exactly saved up a ton of money since I’ve been here but saying that I’ve been on So Many Adventures I’ve traveled to all the places I want to so I feel like I’ve got everything I wanted to to out of my working L visas if you’re someone that’s living in say Sydney and you’re going out every day and you’re just working you know minimum hours you’re probably not going to save a ton cash but if you’re in a remote area your accommodation is included in your work and there is nothing to do and you’re like living that lifestyle for like a few months you’re going to save up a lot more money so it really just depends on what your lifestyle is like what job you have how well you get paid and how much you go out so this question has been asked quite a few times with getting a second or third year you need to do 88 days in your first year and then 6 months in your second year to obtain the second and third year working holiday visas a few people have asked the question around like say if I did 4 months of regional work in my first year can I carry one month into your second year so you only have to do five months the answer is no whatever work you do in that year only counts for that year so say for instance you wanted to get your six months in your second year you would have to work those six months during your second year does that make sense next question a very common misconception about Australia do you see snakes and spiders everywhere no honestly if you’re from England you will totally get this like the first time I said to someone in England I’m going to Australia they looked at me like I was a crazy person they were like you are going to get eaten by a snake attacked by a spider maybe wrestling a crocodile I was like hang on a minute is this really going to happen and I can confirm after spending nearly two years of my life in Australia I’ve had one spider in my house I’ve seen snakes I’ve seen crocodiles but that’s been whilst camping or in really remote parts of Australia so it’s not like they’re just sharing the streets with you you’re not going to see snakes in Sydney or wherever you’re living you know it definitely does happen and More in certain areas but is massively overhyped about the wildlife here you know you think you’re going to come here and a spider is going to greet you at the airport to check your passport that is not the case so you have nothing to be afraid of next question how long should you book in a hostels if you’re traveling I have always done three night minimum and I do that because I feel like three nights is a good enough amount of time to check the vibe and if I want to stay longer then I can extend if you book a week and it turns out you hate it you’re stuck there for a week so I think 3 days is perfect next question is about travel insurance so a lot of people have asked me do I really need travel insurance what about Medicare if I have Medicare because I’m from England do I still need travel insurance I personally believe is your responsibility as a traveler as a working body Visa person to have insurance because anything can happen you know I’ve heard so many horror stories about people having to Fork out tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of pound dollars wherever they are because they’ve gotten an accident you know we think we’re young we’re fit nothing’s going to happen but when you start traveling all the time life becomes more unpredictable and you’re just put in riskier situation I’ve definitely had my fair share of near-death experiences it’s just part of being a Backpacker and traveling that things happen and sometimes they’re not very nice so with Medicare you know I have Medicare but I also still pay for my travel insurance because with Medicare it doesn’t cover the full cost because I’m not an Australian resident even though I have Medicare I’m still going to have to pay for an ambulance so say for instance I get hit by a car and then they C me off in an ambulance I think it’s like $900 to pay for the ambulance and then I’m still going to have to pay some of the medical fees although it will be a lot less because I’ve got my Medicare card I still feel like it’s better to have travel insurance just to cover all the costs in case anything happen and when you’re traveling around Australia as well it just puts your mind at ease that I am covered so you should not be traveling without insurance I think it’s just really irresponsible um if you do need a travel insurance I will link the one that I use down below I have worked with them in the past they’re called Safety Wing they’re not sponsoring this video but I have personally been a customer of them for nearly 3 years now and I like it because it’s just a monthly subscription that I pay it’s about $45 a month and that covers me for travel anywhere around the world and when I’m not traveling I can just cancel that and then restart that when I start traveling again so I’d highly recommend that as a travel insurance I’ll leave the link down below so many of you guys asked me how much should I save to come to Australia so with applying for the visu you need to have at least a minimum of 5,000 Australian dollars in your bank account and I think that’s a really good amount to start with but if you’re going to be traveling first I would say save as much as you can so I think the $5,000 is good to just cover your living expenses for food transport and tie you over till you get a job if you’re going to be traveling first I would budget between $700 and $11,000 per week I know that sounds expensive that will cover your costs of hostels flights buses trains food activities so I think $1,000 would be perfect so what I would do is have your $5,000 put that aside and then think right say if you want to travel for 6 weeks save $6,000 and that might sound like a lot of money to you but Australia really is an expensive country to travel and you are coming here on like a once in a lifetime trip so you’re going to want to have a good time so the next question is should I find a job before I moved to Australia so this is going to sound very hypocritical of me because I actually found a job before I moved to Australia but I’ve been traveling for a year before so I was like I need to save some money so and I’d already been to Australia before I’d done the East Coast over 6 weeks so I was like I know I want to live in Sydney cuz I loved it so the reason I would say you shouldn’t find a job before moving to Australia is because you don’t know where you want to live Australia is so big in fact it’s just a tiny bit smaller than the USA which is pretty big so you’ve got to think there is so many options there so many places you could live if I was going to Australia I would save all my cash and then once I landed here I would travel to all the places that I’d want to travel to and then consider okay where do I want to live and then I would start looking for jobs because what can happen and it happened to me I moved to Sydney and I just didn’t leave where I was living and I didn’t see more of the country in terms of like living in different places because I was just in Sydney I had a job there and I got pretty settled pretty easily so if you’ve been to Australia and you know where you want to live maybe start looking at jobs but if you’ve never been here before I think the best thing you can do is travel as much as possible and then decide where you want to settle next question is is it hard to make friends this is a yes and no question it is hard to make friends in the sense that if if you’re traveling all the time and you’re not really staying in one place you’re going to find it harder to make like better connections and find more of a community which is what I found like I live in a coastal town called Woolen gong there’s not many Travelers that come through here not many people know about it’s a very like local Australian Place everyone’s Australian here and everyone’s lived here for a very long time so it’s been difficult for me to make friends cuz I feel like people live here they already have their friends however when I was living in Sydney I made heaps of friends but then the problem with that is they all moved on because they were all travelers and they were only here for like a certain amount of time so I think I would say it’s hard to make friends but don’t let that put you off I’ve definitely made really good connections and really good friends here but my personal experience I’ve just found it difficult to make friends next question is really good how do you feel about only being allowed 1 to 3 years if I’m honest I find it kind of stressful because as you will realize when you come to Australia you will love it and you’ll fall in love with the lifestyle and the country and the weather and you won’t want to leave so I’m in a I’m in the situation at the moment where I’m coming up to the end of my second year working holiday Visa I can’t get another Visa until July because of the trade deal stuff with the UK but I also want to stay here so one of my only options is to do a skilled Visa which is a lot of paperwork and it’s going to cost me nearly $9,000 so it is a bit stressful but I feel like if you come knowing that you only want to stay here for one year make the most of it but there is a massive risk that you will fall in love with the country and you won’t want to leave in that case things are kind of tricky because there’s many Visa options but they’re very expensive and the Visa system here is just so complex so it is kind of stressful like I feel really settled here and I love my life in Australia and I feel unsettled that I have to leave for like a few months or however long until always sort out a new Visa so yeah that can be really annoying another question I get all the time is should I book a tour for when I get to Australia so you can definitely come here and do everything on your own like you get so much help from people in hostals or other Backpackers on the Facebook groups but if you are feeling nervous or you’re not feeling as confident to move maybe consider one of the tours I know they’ve got ones with like ultimate travel and welcome to travel I’ve never done those but I can see why they would be a really good idea because you you know you have like a week with making new friends you get some support with setting up your bank account Etc and I feel like it would just be a really good idea because when you move here even as a 29-year-old that’s traveled extensively I was still very nervous to move here so if you’re feeling nervous it’s totally normal but maybe you want to consider one of these tours okay we’re on the home stretch I have a few more questions so is it easy to get a job here again yes or no it depends what your skills are it depends what kind of work you want to do and where you’re living so I find that I hear from my other backpack of friends who live in places like can that it’s really hard to get a job because everyone wants to get a job there because it’s nice it’s the weather’s good and you can get your 88 days so I’d say it depends where you are if you’re in a place like where I am will and gong or maybe like a regional town where they’re desperate for workers it’s going to be very easy to secure work but it might not be where you want to live so I think this one’s a bit of a balance so in summary is it hard to get a job in Australia I think it can be difficult to secure a job mainly because you have this six Monon limit on your Visa so you can’t work for one employer for more than 6 months that came into Force again this year if you go to Regional areas or places where maybe there’s not a lot of Travelers this will definitely increase your chances of finding work because people don’t really go to those areas and they need employees so you’ve got a better chance of getting a job but I understand that lifestyle isn’t for everyone one of my biggest regrets which is something someone else asked do I have any regrets about my working quity Visa my biggest regret is not going to experience a different kind of Lifestyle like I’ve lived by the beach before I know I love it but I feel like I’ve just settled into Australia whereas what I wanted to do when I moved here I wanted to like move to some random Outback town and just work a job that I’ve never worked before so if you have the opportunity please do that because I never got to do that and it’s something that I mean I still could do it but I don’t have a lot of time and I’m very settled here so I probably won’t do that and the last question should I move to Australia this is probably the top question I get thank you so much guys for your messages and your questions I’m more than happy to answer them if you send them to me or comment them down below but I’m always going to tell you it’s a big fat yes from me if you’re asking yourself should I move to Australia it means in the back of your mind somewhere along the line you have had had the thought of I kind of want to move to Australia do I want to live by the beach do I want to go live in the outback you should just go and pursue that and the reason I say yes is because if you don’t whilst you’re you know at a certain age you lose the power to go and do a working holiday Visa the Visa is only for 18 to 30 35 in some countries and once you pass the age limit it will be very difficult for you to come and live in Australia for a period of time so I feel like as a young person it’s better to just move to Australia on a working holiday Visa it’s very easy it’s very seamless and if you don’t like it or things don’t work out you can just buy a plane ticket and go back home to your old job to your old friends and to your old life that’s that’s the plainest way I can put it so in summary should you move to Australia heck yes you should move to Australia I hope this has been helpful for you I certainly had so many questions when I first moved to Australia it was very daunting I was very nervous but things will work out how they’re supposed to so don’t let that put you off you are feeling the exact the same same as most other people you’re probably feeling excited nervous anxious just like what the hell am I doing I had all of those feelings but trust me it’ll be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made if you want more advice or information I’ll link down below some resources I have my free mini guide to preparing to move to Australia I have my ebook that you can purchase I think it’s 40% off at the moment and also I have heaps more videos in a playlist down below so thank you so much for watching guys I hope you have the best time moving to Australia if you going to do I’m already excited for you connect with me on Instagram or YouTube thanks for watching this video until next time take care and peace [Music] out

  1. Just to add, from 1st July 2024, if you're from the UK, you don't need to meet any specified work requirements to be approved for additional years (whereas previously you'd need to work a certain amount of days for the 2nd/3rd year) as long as you apply for your visa after 1st July for anyone starting this year 😀

  2. Hi mate. Just wondering I’m from England and with the whole 88 day thing being scrapped would you recommend waiting till after July the 1st to apply for my visa? I’m looking at moving over in late august/early sep. thanks Dain.

  3. Hai mate I'm from the Philippines do you have any idea of when will be the start of intake of WHV between Philippines and Australia? Hope you'll notice.

  4. I'm considering on taking the WHV scheme, I've never been to Australia and my goal is to maximize my WHV time, get it renewed up to 3x, and hopefully make some money. I don't exactly know where to live and I'm not keen at travelling before I start working. As I will be looking for regional work to be eligible for a second WHV, do you think it's smart for me to stay in these areas first and look for work?

  5. Thank you so much for this video! I found it very useful and I feel even more motivated to go to Australia than I was before (and I was very excited)! First video I saw from you but it was great! Cheers!

  6. hey man where can i contact for more information and detail im planning to go to australia when i graduate in 4 months im 18 years old i appreciate it if you can help me thankyou

  7. I'm currently researching about the JENZA working holiday package to Australia. I'll be finishing college this year and Im still not sure if i will do it, but seeing your videos is definitely convincing me!

  8. I'm from the UK, never travelled before, havent been on holiday in 9 years and after turning 29 a few days ago I made the decision to finally go for it and do a working holiday in Australia! Im so apprehensive and actually went through 'Global work and travel' just for ease, thankyou so much for your videos and guides Its been really informative (taking lots of notes) I'm heading there in October! So excited!!! I wish I did it years ago!
