there was golden Greg rainbow Remco and now a napol a stage winner at the tour if Belgium already wasn’t interested in this race that interest just skyrocketed AOL beating Pacha by 12 RIT at 34 seconds Vore well in the fight the world champion Remco AOL takes his first stage win at his first tour to France he was the favorite coming into today that will not make this Victory any less than sweet Robbie because that was magnificent wasn’t it no it it was not an obvious thing I mean a lot of people were saying he is the favorite for the TT being world champion and everything but you’ve got to do it on the day a week deep into the tour to France with everything they’ve already had the fatigue that’s already accumulated the pressure could it’s not quite a week always feels like a week for me stage seven I think is so you know it’s it’s getting it done with the the added pressure of it being the tour to France the big moment and being for the first time up against those other major rivals in a TT I mean they they’ve done plenty of them between them they’ve all one time trials in grand Tours and you got it done you you got to hand it to him it was a huge ride even with the problems at the end you imagine the nervous moment it quick step well we’ll get to that in a moment but what I really liked about his face there Danny when we saw that he realized he’d won he he’d been told he’d won to puff of the cheeks several times over this is relief this is a monkey off his back he’s been wanting to get his first stage when the pressure on the world time trial Champion today would have been huge and it’s just a case of job done I did it what I knew I could do of course being world champion in this discipline he was the out andout favorite coming here today in his debut to of France and he’s taken his first victory in this race it’s a huge pressure off his shoulders in uh the race against the clock so yeah it was a brilliant ride executed perfectly and he put the work in didn’t he before this this was a big goal for him and it’s shown that his form is building throughout this to of France it wasn’t the perfect day for him though Adam talked to me about this mechanical that he had at some two and a half kilometers to go I don’t know it sounded like Robbie could hear the the sound on the gears later on but that early one that he had he just literally looked like he had a problem and shot his hand straight up before he even tried to sort it out again then he looked like he jumped his back wheel it might have been as you suggested Robbie just might not have been able to get in a bigger gear the chain might have been stuck ever slightly but little bunny up of the back wheel and he kept going but if that was a problem or a puncture it would have been just disastrous for him and he’d have felt for him so it would have been awful but luckily he was fine yeah very luckily that hopping of the back we giving a good sharp bang on the ground is the equivalent of giving it a bit of a kick and just getting it to just shunt its way down and we don’t know yet what exactly it was but could be as simple as something caught in between the cogs of that cassette set on the back I’ve even had it myself where you get a small magnet that can just flick up get caught in between and your chain just won’t move anymore on the Chain now as well yeah the chain waxing could have got a bit sticky by the end who knows but um what a moment for for them he just hearts in mouths we say he was lucky but he did manage to stay calm Under Pressure he knew what to do he didn’t let it fluster him and this then is the moment he rolled into the line with the fastest time on the day
