based on your Fitness level use my 30-day free trial to see for yourself the second Sprint stage of this year’s tour to France could Mark Cavendish break Eddie mk’s record from San de Moran to S Valas we have a couple of rollers Cat 4 climbs nothing serious to worry the sprinters we were going to have a Sprint finish so mostly an easy day for the GC contenders and their teams but a big Target for the sprinters after half of them were denied on stage three where there was a crash in the final three colomet and just like on stage three no Breakaway went no one wanted to get in the break total energy obviously got bigger fish to fry ju us so was fourth on GC stepped out just having a joke with lazano but his team said we don’t want to provoke a war although the Pelon seem pretty chilled and he’s saying it was a bit of a joke Pacha got in on the action he in mvdp swapping turns and then inos started h on the radio the chatter got a bit stressed is pacher attacking what’s going on eventually ver and rouso gotten the breakway and things settled down and alerson and little Tre had them pined about 4 minutes so became a conventional Sprint stage the stage low in the middle was all about Road furniture even to the last 4 km where the 3 km rule had been extended to visma stayed in front position for most of the stage and then with some clouds coming in and rain hitting the roads the stress levels increased in the peleton as you can see with all this road Furniture some of it taken out but curbs dividers in European cities these are more and more common and here you see one vingard is waving saying follow me cuz there’s a divider coming up there’s other riders that signal it behind and we can’t see it from Front on what happens deeper in the pelaton but there’s actually not a big crash but a coming together just behind and it nearly involves T pachu who has the crazy save uh instead of hitting this road furnish but here’s what happens I think it’s Solair in front of him I don’t know who maybe I think it’s Solair he looks ahead and then he’s going to sort of Nod with his head to follow him right into Mar are going to follow alberon right and Sam Bennett I think on the Cath he wonders if there’s not enough space for him right so he’s going to decide to go left paga he overlaps his wheel with his domestic in front of him and doesn’t sort of break there is space behind his domestic to just follow right but he doesn’t he sort of overlaps trying to look himself where to go and goes not left just middle and then he gets to this point here and he’s like oh that divid is coming and Bennett goes left with his space Pacha decides to go right but the pel on squeezing there’s no space to go in so he gets bumped off his own domesti and quickstep uh and has to emergency break on the paint just holding it up instead of hitting that road Furniture but the Ricochet effect means that PO Bill ba I think maybe Jack ha go down but then there was the intermediate Sprint shortly after and Pon wins which you know is not the big surprise he’s been the best at them so far but just want you to look at P Phillipson look at his body language after that intermediate Sprint shakes his head something’s not right he just doesn’t look as fast Maybe crash on stage three but he hasn’t looked as dominant this season either as compared to last year so that meant the Sprint was going to be very very open and we’ve got more Road Furniture we’ve got a short descent coming after a 3K climb and notice of all the teams in front inos Vialis UA team Emirates Red Bull borans those are four GC teams that were in front there’s one that’s not or DSM I guess are not but a St of Kazakhstan also staying at the front all day but look at Kristoff leaport he’s going to overlap his wheel to the left of one of the visma Riders and then pedal through this corner but that’s a mistake because there’s Road Furniture in the middle of this corner in the narrowing and he basically chops himself or gets chopped uh because benote goes left through the furniture but laort seems to be okay but yeah problems for visma another Rider on the ground they’ve had about most of their team crash so far and as I said here’s the lineup of those teams a keeping Mark Cavendish in good position through all this row furniture with vingard one wanting to hop onto the other side not happy with the side he’s on but I mean the aana train of federov luchenko they used to hard on the climb before they kept Cavendish forward fresh in good position through all this road finish you got morons in the middle of the road taking a video for what you know your mom on Facebook get a grip and we’re waiting to get onto the 4 km go Banner where the the quote unquote safety is we get there GC teams go to the back where they belong and now the Sprinter team starts Anto marhe and Lotto Destiny trying to get to this narrowing first and again aana look where they are with Mark kavish front 10 positions look where alberon to Kikar with vanderpol and philipson about 20 positions back in the pelaton now that’s a valid strategy that appon to have used before they’ve stayed at the back in UAE tour Springs come up late with philipson or previously merly year but then two Cas to go they’re still back there and now Victor cart’s on the front for lotto is Absol abolutely drilling it which means coming to the front is both very very difficult to do which you see maybe s cry Anderson as the man on the left hand sign trying to do and it’s also it comes at a cost to your Sprinter obviously compared to where a stanner are they’re already been in that position for kavenish quote unquote for free by being there for the last 10 km and then their fresher to move him up you see ballerini in front of CAS bow moves to the front doesn’t really start his lead out he waits for abrahamson to jump and he lets DSM also come across to the left of him so he doesn’t jump too early so the experienced train of Cavendish starts to click although merku actually gets chopped off Cavendish wheel at some point so he can’t do the final lead out and so yeah they kept cavish in fantastic position yes they don’t launch him with 75 me to go but he’s here fresh 1K to go alberon tock on the right hand side and Cavendish wants that wheel of philipson from Phil bow house thinking that Vanderpool is going to launch philipson into the next Dimension with his lead out but actually Dan mlay he does a stronger lead out ler pool Philipson’s dropped off on ml’s Wheel but then mlay is about to go backwards Cavendish launches out of aiman’s wheel goes across to the right hand side as we look at it Peterson crashes into the barriers and Mark Cavendish takes his 35th stage the Twitter France but watch here look at cavish Surf bang onto Aman’s wheel he’d already taken bhouse wheel which is the wheel to be takes card off it and he knows Gibbons is a lead up man Gibbons will go it’s 300 me to go aiman’s going to go inside barriers maybe Philips a little bit more cous than last year Cavendish slips through and he knows aiman’s about to launch and act as his lead out man and that’s exactly what he does then there’s the open space out of the bend where it’s straight now Cavendish looks to his left sees there’s clear air and space and because while he’s moving left he’s cutting off the draft to his back wheel philipson spends 3 to 4 seconds getting to his back wheel as Cavendish is moving left now did that make a difference in the end not really to be honest Cavendish just looks straight up faster than philipson but experience timing Precision Power everything came together and a pretty good lead out from estana Kazakhstan as well leading the 39-year-old mark kavenish taking that record-breaking Victory ahead of yasper Phillips and then Chris do for good Sprint after crashing Del Lee yakobson akan dear K T and abini G the teammates in Mar V turns to GC nothing changes Pacha still 45 seconds ahead of a Paul and 50 seconds ahead of vingard as at yesterday AO in fourth and Rit Carlos Rodriguez land Al Chon and Bernell hope you enjoyed the video I’ll see you the recap of the Sprint tomorrow ciao

    1. Worth circling back tomorrow to highlight that bunny hop, there are alternative angles of it. Straight up leapt over the fallen rider and would otherwise probably have caused some significant injury

    2. What a superb narration of some cycling history that warms the cockles of this English man's heart greatly. Kav is king et le blaireau est triste 🙂

    3. Incredible win from Cav, and the team that backed him so well.
(Also if Pog goes on to win the tour, this will be the day where he saved his tour with that amazing save

    4. you probably have your reasons (more clicks?) but yesterday I was really mad for being spoilered by your title… maybe I'll watch different highlights if I didn't see the stage myself and don't wanna know what happens from reading title, but yours I would usually like best

    5. Chapeau to Astana. Never been my favourite team (for obvious reasons) but they have faith, foresight and courage in spades to take on the Cav crusade. The team won it in the last 30 km, leaving Cav to do what he does best in the melee.

    6. Come on. Everybody knew he could do it. Mainly UCI. It's funny how the international media as a whole idolizes this guy. Cavendish surpassed Eddy Merckx in this regard. But Merckx won in ALL areas. I'm not going to take away from him being a good sprinter, but he's always been a bad sport and a poor sportsman, German Marcel Kittel says so. If tangling or sprinting shoulder to shoulder is one thing, purposefully knocking your opponent down is another thing. The organization did everything for him to beat the number of stage victories in the Tour, and Eddy doesn't care. Merckx won: 5 Tour, 5 Spin, 1 Vuelta. Cavendish never even made it into the top 50. Everything was prepared for him to win the stage, he did it, thankfully, now he's leaving and it's already late. They'll say yay, yay and soon it will be forgotten. Astana invested in this, even apart from Friday's time trial, we have flat stages until Tuesday, one he would have to win. Blessed organization! The "Cavedish" is already more than 2 hours late. He must not pass through the hardest mountains.

    7. I'm 39, i say this on behalf of all the 39 year olds around the world 🌎
Go Cavo 39 Years Young, Winning the 5th Stage, Incredible Achievement 🖖

    8. This man is a Legend, years ago he was sprinting against Erik Zabel, now even Rick Zabel (Eriks Son) has retired but Cav is stil sprinting ❤

    9. Best sporting moment of 2024. Been following Cav since 2009 and crazy to think without the Tours he missed through illness, crashing out and leaving early for Olympics he could have close to 40 stage wins. Chapeau legend!

    10. Wow this is amazing. Such a good head for sprinting. I wonder what his total would be if he had not had the Epstein-Barr virus?

    11. Have watched the TdF avidley every year since 2001, and I remember a young upstart sprinter appearing on the scene in 2008, cockily declaring that he was the fastest in the world. But he very quickly started backing up his claims, his wins became some of the most exciting stage finishes on the Tour; and over the years he became one of the greatest riders in Tour history. Then in 2016 it was all over, and even though it was sad, it made sense after 8 years as a GT professional. I don't think the '35' has been Sir Marks primary objective, I just think he wanted to finish his career on a high, rather than having to retire through illness, or after being scraped of the road with a broken shoulder. Anyway, Mark you are a true legend, a sporting GOAT, and thanks for all the thrills and spills over the years!
